Stock Resources GROUPS DirectoryThis article is meant to serve as a list of groups at deviantART that focus on art resources.Stock Resources GROUPS Directory5 years ago in Art Features More Like This
I know you can find all these groups and more in dA's Groups search, but how much time would it take you to find them all? And how many dead accounts and unrelated results might you sift through to find what you're looking for? (I did that very thing for this article, and I can tell you one rather probable answer to both questions is, "a lot.")
Not that I'm complaining. I simply saw an opportunity to compile a listing of deviantART's 80 most helpful groups about resources. But let's back up a bit.
Before I began this directory, I felt it would be important to introduce everyone to a place (the place) for dA's resource providers (and users) to get acquainted with the world of stock photos, textures, PSD files, tutorials, and all that other great stuff artists need to create their masterpieces! Thankfully, I didn't have to

Paint Tool Sai Speech Bubbles TutorialFirst you need a new line art layer and to use the vector tools provided. Use the curve tool and edit tool to create your speech bubble shapes.Paint Tool Sai Speech Bubbles Tutorial2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Below in red is where to find the line art layer. Click it to create a new line art or Vector Layer.
On the new line art layer, click four points in a rought squared egg shape like below in the large red square. Use the curve tool to make this shape. The curve tool is marked in a little red box to the left of the image below.
Now select the edit tool. Then from the middle of each point, click and hold then drag outwards to create a new point and deform your shape into a rough circle. You may need to change between your edit options to edit the shape. Translate should be fine to do most of the shaping.
Then you can use the curve tool to ad the speech bubble tail. That's all there is to making speech bubbles in sai. Of course you can draw

Tutorial Treasury 05In the Tutorial Treasury, you will find tutorials geared towards Photomanipulators and some that will deal with a broader subjects, such as lighting, colour etc. The tutorials will be from dA as well as from all over the web and in each episode, there will be 3 to 6 tutorials for your reading pleasure (any more than that I guess no one will have time to read anyway). If you find any good ones, shoot me a note so I can include them in the next installment!Tutorial Treasury 052 years ago in Art Features More Like This

Know your Basics - TexturesThere are a lot of tutorials out there on how to create / photograph texture as well as how to use them on a technical level, but the question of why and when to use textures is rarely touched. This article wants to fill that gap and therefore looks at texures from a slightly different perspective.Know your Basics - Textures2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Textures in Manips as you know them
For a photomanipulator, the first thing that comes to mind when hearing the word "texture" are images that can be used in soft light or overlay mode to texture a manipulation or parts thereof. What most manipulators therefore have in mind, are images like the following:
Beautiful textures, sure, and useful, too, but have you ever thought of doing more with them than the aforementioned overlays? And have you ever considered using other kinds of textures, too?
A more objective look at Textures
The following definition is an excerpt

Digital Art / Traditional Art use only :
Only use my stock as a material for an artwork that follows the guidelines for deviantART Photomanipulation or Mixed Media Digital Art categories, or as a reference for Digital Painting, Airbrushing or Pixel Art or Traditional Art (Painting, Drawing, Sculpture...).
This means that in accordance to deviantART Policy for Photomanipulation & Mixed Media, all digital images whose creation did not involve other techniques than texturing, filtering, color alteration, addition of text or scribbles are considered as an unfair use o
Appreciation and some advice for beginnersI have had this journal in mind for quite a long time, thinking I will find a time to write it down after I find a job (so that I can give 'advice' as a professional ). I've been less active in the past weeks since I was on a probation in a game company and I thought I would make it this time, unfortunately today I was told I have to go back to job hunting again. Anyway I'm not gonna wait any longer since some of my fellow deviants have been asking for advice for a long time.Appreciation and some advice for beginners2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Before I start – my apologies if some points in this journal are not clear because of language, I am not a native English speaker.
I'm not giving these advice as a professional or an elite artist (I hope I was!), just sharing my learning experience and some personal understanding of conceptual design and arts. Please ignore or correct me if I got things wrong.
Ok. Some related information about myself – I studied computing at university, in my final year I found myself really lack of interests in programming or

And honestly, even without this, you guys and girls are the best followers, friends, and people that anyone could ask for.
I have to go make sure the bathtub is not pink now…
Tuesday Tips #1 Photographing your Art:iconRising-Artists: is here to help you become a better artist not only by connecting you with thousands of artists, but by also challenging you to drive yourself further.Tuesday Tips #1 Photographing your Art2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Now we would like to start helping you overcome some tricky problems that we all see happen quite often on DA!
In this issue, we are going to discuss Photographing Your Art
Lets Start by first understanding the basics to a great photograph:
General Rule of Thumb for composition of a photograph: Use solid/semi solid backgrounds with not too much detail that would draw the viewer's eyes away from the subject of the photo (for this same reason, do not have other items in the foreground.) Natural Sunlight is as good as it gets for physical three dimensional (non-reflective) objects.
For Jewelry, and any crafted object with glitter/sparkles/reflection - Use a lightbox/softbox with Sparkler Bulbs!!
When using fill lights or extra lights in a studio/room, be sure to set the White Balance
