THE CHURCH OF GOOGLISMSTEP 1: The problem.THE CHURCH OF GOOGLISM2 years ago in Personal More Like This
You have a problem.
Don't tell me you don't have problems.
Everyone has problems.
Determine what your biggest problem is.
Don't have a big problem? Too scared to admit it?
You can start smaller- How about a small problem?
How about something that concerns/bothers/confuses you today/this week/recently?
Come up with a bunch of keywords that describe your problem.
STEP 2: Ask google for solution to your problem.
Google your question using ALL the possible keyword combinations that your problem relates to or has in it.
See if anyone already has a similar problem or has already resolved it.
Take 3 hours if you must.
Finding correct information can get tough, especially if it is obscure, hidden, answered incorrectly or has conflicting answers.
Answers without proper sources or evidence are generally incorrect and should be disregarded.
If there are too many conflicting solutions and opposing answers and you're not sure which is correct,
Use the principle of

My dA story[Wow, it's been ages since I wrote a journal, so I thought this little bandwagon would be the perfect opportunity to do that.]My dA story8 months ago in Personal More Like This
I joined dA in 2006. I was 16, a sophomore in high school.
A friend of mine suggested it offhand, and I had been posting my first ventures into digital art on forums for a private server of Ragnorok Online, so I thought to myself "why not! Let's see what this is all about."
I had no idea what I was getting myself into, but the moment I first started posting, I could feel something change. Having people interested in your art and stories was so motivating; it was unlike anything I had ever had in person with family or friends. Up until I joined, I'd never really taken my art seriously.
I was on here for a year before I started concepting SalaDays, a slapstick story about supernatural teens in school. A lot of people showed interest, so I started up a webcomic (and even opened up

Squirrels....of DEATH.As a rule, I run under the assumption that if word of an outbreak or pandemic suddenly hits the news, it's already too late. With people moving across the world at the rate they now do, an incident can be reported on one side of the planet and by the time the networks broadcast it, the bug is probably crawling in through your living room window.Squirrels....of DEATH.2 years ago in Personal More Like This
So, when I hear that a squirrel just outside Los Angeles has been found dead and racked with The Plague, I get a little freaked out.
That's THE Plague.
You know: the one that killed 200 million people in Europe BEFORE the advent of mass transportation.
Now, there are plague animals running wild all over the place, and the Black Death can actually be treated at the moment, but the bacterium has been at large for centuries, giving it plenty of time to turn real nasty. Our antibiotics get less effective by the day, with the bugs they're used on becoming more and more resistant to them through misu

Went to study Web Design... And failed misserablyThats me when I studied Web Design a few years back.Went to study Web Design... And failed misserably11 months ago in Personal More Like This
This is a short segment in my life that I haven't really talked about before, (mostly out of shame). So after graduating from Graphic Design school, my dearest mother really wanted to push me to study somthing else to 'expand my worldly knowledge', she started asking if just having a Graphic Design background is enough, whether I have enough skills to survive in the real world. She kept talking and talking, so in order to shut her up, I told her I could study web design because internet is the future and I have no knowledge of coding. She liked the idea. GOOD, Now leave me alone, I will study Web Design and become good at it, maybe I have a hidden talent with coding, maybe I am The One. Big mistake. :T (There has been wayyyy too many times when I would choose to listen to my mother's advice instead of following my own instinct, and in turn costing me lots of problems in the end. The most recent one costing me a whole gr

I got to experience pretty much everything you guys mentioned in the last journal xD though not to such extremes in some cases. Overall everything was ok. China was cool and HK of course is shopping heaven. I'll make a better post later after I sort out all these photos. Most of the pics I took are of weird things... =3=
But anyway before that!!!!!!!!!!!!
When I was in Shanghai, this little sparrow (?) flew over and landed near me, so I approached it like I always do when I spot birds, expecting it to fly off when I try to poke it..but it didn't 80! So I picked it up.
Sorry for the crappy photos, my dad took them and he never focuses on the right thing OTL
I carried it around with me for the rest of our time in that area, but then left it behind cause I c

Where did you learn?
I've taught myself. My Secondary (High) School art teacher told me 'cartoon are not art' and so I had no interest in perusing 'art' classes any further. At about 13 I began to draw every day, less studying, more drawing what came to mind, creating characters and worlds and getting my thoughts and feeling onto paper.
I joined deviantART at 15, and the feedback and critique I've gained through sharing my art online has helped a lot in my improvement. I wasn't born with any 'gift', unless you count functioning hands, I learned through practice. My early drawings are just as bad as everyone elses (I keep them as proof) I a

David Bowie was the living embodiment of this prevailing ‘60’s mantra. Never had such a waiflike cultural figure of a rebel so discombobulated and terrified the established social order. In a time of gender role experimentation and redefinition, he was the oddly attractive symbol of the

Still Life Food Photography Contest
Still life photography usually involves a set up - planning and careful execution of a shot. Food photography in particular takes a lot of preparation and the time to make a dish or an item of food aesthetically pleasing. So I thought it was about time we had a contest involving all elements! Your challenge is to create a brand shiny new Still Life Photography piece that features Food. Now the catch is you must be creative with the food. Entries will be considered carefully and if you are taking photos of food that someone else has made, then you need to step up the mark and make it as unique as possible. If you made the creation yourself, give us a brief idea in the description of how. Utilize the descriptions of your artwork to tell us about your photography!

Flash Fiction Month July 2012PrefaceFlash Fiction Month July 20123 years ago in Literature Features More Like This
This article is written for #LitResources. Our goal is to be a collection and creation station for all resources pertaining to literature on deviantART. This article will focus on Flash Fiction Month! It will include information about what specifies flash fiction, activities around dA for flash fiction month, and links to resources revolving around FFM activities.
If, after reading the article, you have more information or resources to add, please leave your thoughts in a comment! And don't forget to this article to help spread the word.
What Is Flash Fiction?
Put simply, flash fiction is a very short story. Lengths can vary from as few as six words (i.e. Hemingway's famous Baby Shoes) to a thousand, sometimes more. It depends largely on the outfit for which the author decides to write a piece of flash fiction. For the

Now I have a confession to make... I self suggested this deviation to DomiSM, so it didn't come as a surprise I received it.
I know from being a volunteer that some people feel that DD's should be suggested by others or that it should be a surprise. Well no, not always. Sometimes you have to fight for your work to gain exposure. Gone are the days where deviantART was a small site... you need to learn how to use the channels on dA to get the exposure your work deserves.
These days, I work in vector and the high pecentage of work I upload to dA is client work. A huge part of being a Freelancer is marketting yourself and putting yourself out there. This is why self suggesting yourself for a Daily Deviation should be

"I DRAW SPANKING PICTURES!"
wheww, glad I got that off my chest. But yeah, just felt I needed to make that announcement.
But seriously I want to let my current watchers new and old understand this. If you do not like those sorts of pictures then you might as well click the "unwatch" button, because that is what I do here, no, its not every picture, but it is a theme of much of my work.
here are a few frequently asked questions I get about my spanking work just to clear things up.
Q. OMG! BDSM? 50 shades of grey, whips and chains?
A. No, not really, no. For those who actually pay attention to my artwork, the spanking situations I draw usually fall under four different categories. "Parental Spanking" "Discipline Spanking" "Silly Spanking" and something I like to call "Mean Spankings" As you will note in I hardly if ever draw "Sexy Spankings" honestly, contrary to popular belief, I don't really like kinky span
