I hoped to God that standing in front of Bruce's door with my fist poised above me mid-knock didn't constitute as a reason to look creepy.
It wasn't that I was necessarily scared per se . . . my mind had merely decided to recap on every single seductive encounter that's ever occurred between Bruce and I . . . So I was a bit distracted to say in the least.
A strange chill that ran down my back awakened me from my trance. It was so quick that I almost thought I had imagined it. I looked behind me down the desolate hallway in the direction of my room. It was only after I saw no explosions, nor heard any peculiar noises that I felt comfortable with turning back around a few seconds later.
'Strange,' I thought fleetingly. Was someone talking about me? I quickly disregarded the idea, however.
One more deep breath, and I found myself connecting my fist with the dark mahogany wood that separated Bruce from me. A few moments later, to my complete surprised, a tall, skinny

Roxanne smiled demurely as she stood there and watched her best friend practically launch herself at the handsome playboy before snatching the keys out of his hands giddily (And then begin apologizing profusely for her action, of course).
She took one last look at the two before turning to close the 1-story high maple wood doors that led to the foyer of Bruce Wayne's impressive mansion. Only, Alfred's was the only face that greeted her when she went back inside. He was smiling kindly.
"Miss Jackson," Alfred said as Roxanne began to climb the stairs. "Might I recommend a trip to Master Wayne's outdoor facilities? There are a plethora of sports and other recreational activities that would serve to entertain you throughout the duration of the night."
Roxanne paused mid-step up a stair and actually considered taking up the friendly butler on his offer. However, her shoulders sagged a bit when she realized that before she could do anything else, she would have to make sure that s

The explosion shot violently across the scorching desert sky in fiery plumes, the image searing my eyes, and resounding in my afflicted mind. The deafening roar, the horrified, confused screams, the prolonged groan of mangled titanium making swift impact with the dunes, burning sand raining down, all of it culminating in such a symphony of sorrow, causing me to shake. The speeding starship, ablaze, screaming at breakneck speed towards its doom, desecrated, getting torn to silver shreds. There's a faint sound of shattering glass accompanying the more painful roars as an officer is thrown through the bridge window, dropping hard into the swirling sands, already dead. There's nothing left to identify the ill-fated vessel now, save for some badly burned off lettering, and I can only make out a barely intelligible, "VAL."
I felt my body toss and turn, shaking violently now. The ship ceased its groaning, dead. The screams felt louder and louder until they consumed my entire conscious. Starfl

Red Robin: Hey, how was I supposed to know they'd be wearing anti-meta armor!?

The hoods come off, and they are held in the hand of Joseph Kane. His suit has some tears and he has a few minor injuries.
Joseph: Let me guess, Batman saw you were in the area and thought a small strike team would save my kosher bacon.
The teens remove their ropes.
Kid Flash: Pretty much, yeah. Who is this guy who kidnapped you, and what's NNSS

The young captain's usually striking bright blue eyes, lacked their usual boyish charm, looking exhausted today, as Starfleet as a whole was reduced to complete and utter chaos. His regulation transmitter had been beeping angrily since five yesterday, and he couldn't remember a time when it sat calm and still, not accusing him of raging careless failure. Right now, he stood in the newly reconstructed Daystrom Institute, his transmitter buzzing on the edge of the table, nearly about to fall off, while the captains and first officers of every vessel in the fleet, all spoke at once, in panicked tones, asking him the thousands of questions that he'd already tried asking himself but still couldn't answer. How many dead? Had the hyper-gravity device been faulty? How could Khan possibly know of the takedown? What was his next move? How many more would die? What could Starfleet do in terms of defensive maneuvers? How did Khan appear to be on course to fly over the desert when he so obviously w

It was actually a baffled What!!! followed by a Why? which was weakly mouthed.
He wished he could take back those expressions. But it was too late. It was his turn to respond, and he knew that he had to. He shook his head impatiently, as if to drive away the thoughts impinging upon his mind.
"What do you know about him?" he could say, finally.
"Nothing," she admitted.
He sighed and struck his palm against his forehead.
"Tell me something, Diana! Did you come to me for advice? Or are you merely to informing me?"
She thought for a while.
"It was Hawk Girl's idea," she said, pointing to her winged friend. He squinted at her and she dodged him.
Diana took charge, knowing that Hawk Girl wasn't going to plead her case as she did before her a few hours ago.

Fifteen year old Emma McBain lay flat on her back in the center of her bed staring at the ceiling, her six week, four day ultra sound pictures held loosely by her left hand that was calmly draped over her belly button.
Breathing in a deep sigh and holding the picture up one more time she let out a loud groan. Letting her head fall against her black and red little pig themed pillow, she looked around her small but decorative bedroom. Her walls were littered with pictures of her and her friends, random newspaper clippings and even the occasional movie poster or comic page cut out. Her shelves stuffed to the brim with strange books and trophies, on her desk she had her uncompleted math homework that was now late as of yesterday morning.
Who could think about doing algebra at a time like this she muttered.
Sitting up slowly she looked past her skull-themed skirt past her pale legs all the way to her purple stri

Rachel Tamarack was in her early 20s, chestnut hair with large brown eyes to match. She was average height and in her own words could stand to lose a few pounds. She was a typical college student. She made straight Bs, lived in a small apartment and, like every other student, was worried about upcoming finals.
But that would have to wait. She glanced at her wrist watch anxiously. Another wave of pain hit causing her to twist in her seat. Pressing a button on her watch, she called, "Rachel to mothership. 0137 arrival imminent. Requesting immediate retrieval."
Rachel took the remaining moments to caress her swollen belly. 0137, who she had dubbed Michael, was soon to arrive and the process would begin anew. She thought back to how it had began.
It was Rachel's last year of high school. She wasn't a naturally smart girl. She had to earn every grade she got with late nights at the library. This Friday night was no exception. Miss Willias, the head librarian, had finally managed to

It wasn't quite morning and yet past midnight when Ira was awoken by a flurry of activity in her womb. She had almost forgotten she was carrying triplets for her friend.
The arrangement had been a sort of exchange of services: her friend had helped her when she lost her job, gave her a place to stay with minimal rent and even helped her find a job (not the surrogacy, but this was a way to get some extra cash and help out at the same time), and so Ira agreed to carry her infertile friend's frozen embryos, which had all attached.
Rolling over onto her back, she groaned as the kits all kicked hard and rubbed down her belly to try to soothe them

The second voice, male unlike the first, sighed as he arrived at the door. There was a soft yelp as his bare feet caught a splinter on the deck and waved at his companion to stay back in the sand as he approached the glass doors. He peered inside, looking like no one had been living there for years. He crouched down in the darkness and pried up a loose board, finding a rusted key there. I like to sit and think a lot because neat things happen when I do.
I was sitting in class one day when I thought about the walls being pink. That's my favorite color. When I came back from the bathroom, the walls were pink. It was like someone came in and painted them. No one else noticed it but me.
I tried other stuff. I thought of my lunch box having an apple. The apple was the best apple I ever tasted.
I was really excited but also a little worried. I didn't want to do anything bad. But I didn't know why it was happening. It just started that one day.
After the apple, I was very careful. I didn't do anything for a while. I turned my favorite doll a couple different colors but that was all. I tried a couple things. I figured out I needed to really think about something to make it happen. Also, when I got worried about aliens from space because of something on TV, they didn't show up. So that didn't do anything.

Yeah, people make promises
And tell you what you want to hear
But when it comes down to it
You're all alone
No one cares about
No one likes you
Let alone anyone love you
It's just you
The ones you thought you knew
They tell you they love you
Or that they'd die without you
But it's just a lie
Like everything else in your life
You think you would be used to it
But you're not
It still hurts
It still makes you sad
But that's what to expect
So in the end
It's just you late at night
Crying into your pillow
With only your razorblade there for you
Nothing they said was ever true
And you should just get used to that
Because it's just you

She needn't have feared; the King simply wanted her to watch over two of his wives that were with-child. They had both miscarried before and he wanted nothing to go wrong this time.
