Remembering 9-11-2001Never forget the horrors of 9-11 and all the people whom died;Remembering 9-11-20011 year ago in Personal More Like This
not only in the initial attack, but also the firefighters and clergy who died rescuing people from the burning builds, the brave men and women who died aboard United 93 as they brought it
down, giving their lives to save others from suffering the same horrible fates as those in the Twin Towers and the Pentagon.
Never forget the brave men and women who sacrifice so much each and every day so that we may be safe from any such attacks; they put their lives on the line so we don't have to.
So, please, some time in your day, say a prayer for the souls of those lost in the attacks eleven years ago...
We must NEVER forget.

The Bang Bang ClubYou have to see this movie about war photographers called “The Bang Bang Club.” For photographers, it’s a near perfect experience. The Bang Bang Club2 years ago in Personal More Like This
The way photographers are shown in films follows the way in which any profession tends to be depicted in fiction - - usually as a caricature in a single dimension useful to the dramatic license taken out by the filmmaker.
The classic 1960 Federico Fellini movie “La Dolce Vita” introduced the paparazzi to the world stage and forever established a benchmark to the public’s perception of this type of news photographer as essentially a point and shoot automoton in the service of publicists. That view stuck no matter how brilliantly Weegee worked in this idiom with his sardonic exposures.
Here are Fellini’s paparazzi:

Thanks every single one of you who commented on my last journal.
You have no idea how much it means to me to have each and every one of you in my life. I truly wish I could reply to them, but most of them have left me speechless.
I consider all of you my friends, so it makes me really glad to know that all of you care so much <3
Im going to cut into my comments, replying to most of them ASAP <3
LOVE YOU ALL <3
Hooray ! Long live to deviantART !Now 13 years ago deviantART was for the first time on the internet!Hooray ! Long live to deviantART !4 months ago in Personal More Like This
I'm sure $spyed ░matteo and ░jark don't really realize at this point the revolution they start.
deviantART comes from a small community of deviants to millions deviants!
From a small "applications skins and wallpapers" community to THE art community on the internet !
From a hundred deviations to millions of deviations !
Now 13 years later deviantART is made of 80+ active staff member, 50 community volunteers and more than 20 millions active deviants !
I'm really proud to have joined this community 9 years ago now, i'm browsing it more than 11 years now and I've seen it change a lot during all this time !
deviantART is always improving, changing... try to always be the best place to browse art (and it is for sure!), to give the most possible exposure to all the kind of art... That's just really awesome and breathtaking !
I encourage you to wish deviantART a Happy birthday and a long long long life to them !
SDCCVery quick post - just back from an AMAZING SDCC, where we spent an inordinate amount of time with Angelo and the other great guys of deviantART. We had an amazing joint panel with them on day one, and lots of fun after that - including late-night bowling, during which I fell over. Ahem.SDCC5 months ago in Personal More Like This

FAKE FRIENDS: Make you say sorry when you want to talk to them at odd hours of the night, or even just hang out at odd hours. REAL FRIENDS: Come right over and hang out with you, until you either fall asleep, or kick them out.

Me, deviantART and Madefire...and 'Captain Stone is Missing...' Because that's what this is REALLY all about.Me, deviantART and Madefire8 months ago in Personal More Like This
Don't get me wrong, I'm not going to do a big sales pitch here for my book, rather I'm going to tell you WHY I think this partnership between Madefire and dA is so exciting, and that all hinges on my experience with Captain Stone!
OK, at the risk of repeating myself, I've been on dA quite a long time. Six years. Not to be sniffed at! I've posted journals that have, at times, been deeply personal, or instructive, or sad or angry - but all human. I've bared my soul a bit, and always tried to be honest above all.
I've also shared my journey in print, then the slow move to digital. The development of Cap Stone (http://liamsharp.deviantart.com/gallery/42431821) and my move from the UK to the US. You've always seen the inner-working of my life as a pro here, and it's been my honour to share it with this fantastic community.
When it comes to creating stories, getting them seen is hard - especially in print! Ove

FULL CIRCLE - dA meets MadefireWhen digital comics were first imagined we just had the web. It was a blank canvas, of course, and it was crying out to be scribbled all over, desperate to burst open the long-slumbering narrative modes we had all taken for granted and formed habits around.FULL CIRCLE - dA meets Madefire8 months ago in Personal More Like This
The questions were multiple:
- How long will it take to kick old habits? (To paraphrase Douglas Adams, when will people really stop mistaking the food for the plate?)
- What will these new mediums look like? What will the grammar be? Will we be participants, or passive watchers?
- How will we build them? Flash? After-effects? What?
- How do we stop the pirates if it’s a basic PDF reader?
- How will we reach people, and how will it make any money?
- Can we do it like Spotify or Pandora, and have it supported by advertising, giving everybody the content for free?
These were things Ben Wolstenholme and I were wrestling with when we first started talking about Madefire several years ago. Other pioneers had faced boldly into these

Happy 13th birthday, and thank youToday marks deviantART's 13th birthday and a handful of us -- $spyed, $mccann, $chris, and me -- have been on this amazing journey since pretty much day one. Thirteen years ago, most of us in that handful were just teenagers, unknowingly embarking on a time in our lives that would shape us, inspire us, and be truly thought-provoking in ways we could have never imagined. Today, I find myself so fortunate to play a role in the ongoing journey that has deviantART at the forefront of solving complex problems that affect the creative community.Happy 13th birthday, and thank you4 months ago in Personal More Like This
Throughout the years, I've met incredible people at deviantMEETs, town hall meetings, and visits to new countries -- all of which have fostered relationships and changed my life. I'm extremely grateful to have talked with every deviant who has crossed my path -- even in a note, comment, or journal. The deviantART community has flourished and prospered in the past 13 years, and we're thankful for that,
I hate most game publishers and this is why...There are not to many things that get me mad in this world, I have a fair bit of understanding and am very tolerant, but there is one thing above most others that I really cant stand and that's game publishers that care about making money more than making games, and I know that a lot of people know exactly what I'm talking about.I hate most game publishers and this is why...1 year ago in Personal More Like This
The worse offender is EA, but there not alone Ubisoft and a long list of others are right behind them.
Because of this most games these days are focusing on "13 year old's that live in New York City" the games are accessible not finished and minimum effort, they just all round suck.
A side factor of this is most hardcore games have became completely extinct, look at RTS the last grate one was Supreme commander FA, and that was years ago, RTS are totally dead the only ones that do get made are the most accessible heaps of crap like Star Craft II and all C&C games, they have almost 0 base building and the economy is focused on rush, RTS should be at leas
