Season EnderYellow~! Its been awhile since I made a write-up for my gallery (more than a year?).Season Ender2 years ago in Personal More Like This
2013 has been a very busy year for me because of work and freelance (mobile app development) --- causing me to hibernate in photography for more than seven (7) months.
Aside from work, my favourite lens (Tokina UWA) got himself some fungus and my EOS 1000D got injured (like hot-shoe problem and sensor dust) --- as a result, I end up rejecting every invitation because I don't have any gear to use on --- and it took me awhile to send it to a server centre because of tight schedule
On a brighter side, I think this incident is nice because I still have some awful backlogs to catch-up with from 2012.
PICKING A NEW CAMERA
SO FAST FORWARD: Finally I got myself an editing device (a Macbook Pro for obvious reasons) and a new camera (Fuji X100S) because of my freelance.
Lots of my friends are asking me :
"Why pick a non-interchangeable camera…?"
"Why pick X100S..?"
UPDATE: Bracer Raffle #2 =DUPDATE: Hey Friends, I get to go on a surprise camping trip this weekend! Unfortunately that means I won't be able to call the raffle until Monday or Tuesday, but to be fair the raffle will still end on Saturday! So all those entering must enter no later than tomorrow night! I will see you all again next week!UPDATE: Bracer Raffle #2 =D2 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
It has been a crazy busy summer! So, busy that I have not nearly been as active with my photography and clothing as I would like. I also have been promising more bracer raffles for the future but have gotten behind schedule with them! So to start off the slide into fall I would like to host another bracer raffle!
So here is how it works:
-Favorite this Journal. (this is how I will keep track of the contestants)
-You must be watching me. (This is a gift to my friends, not passerby's! It is ok to start watching me now. )
If you are the winner, you will get to pick either one pair
Introducing the deviantART Collection on FotoliaToday, we are announcing the launch of the deviantART Collection on Fotolia, a selection of over 3,000 images from artists on deviantART. It is a grand experiment bringing together the excellence of work on deviantART with an opportunity for artists to gain worldwide commercial exposure for their work.Introducing the deviantART Collection on Fotolia3 years ago in DeviantArt Announcements More Like This
What is the deviantART Collection?
A while back, we announced our partnership with Fotolia.com through the StockProject group, where you can find hundreds of free stock images. We teamed up with Fotolia once again to create the deviantART Collection.
A team of professional photo editors started filtering through images on deviantART looking for excellent photographs that would work on commercial websites, like Fotolia, that sell images for designers and art directors to use in magazines, advertisements and product packaging. The team then offered artists on deviantART an opportunity to
Complete Pyramid Head Helmet TutorialIntroductionComplete Pyramid Head Helmet Tutorial8 years ago in Personal More Like This
Okay everyone, here is the long awaited Pyramid Head Helmet Tutorial! Unfortunately, I do not have step by step pictures, nor do I have measurements of the actual frame or the foam-board panels, just the finished product. Also, I did not sketch out blueprints when I made the helmet, but I used pictures as references. I'll describe later how I did that. As a matter of fact, that might be more helpful to you than the actual measurements themselves. But anyways, lets get started. Use the following links as reference throughout the tutorial:

Wii-U speculation updatedI posted my last journal about Wii-U speculation over on ScrewAttack.com's website just for a lark. I haven't used the blog feature there in almost 2 years and since the new redesign all my old blogs were deleted anyway. Imagine my surprise then when I woke up this morning to find that my blog had been promoted to "community spotlight" (meaning it's on the frontpage) and that there are generally intelligent and thoughtful discussions going on as a result (some including responses by Metal Gear Ben!).Wii-U speculation updated3 years ago in Personal More Like This
I gotta admit... I didn't expect that at all!
Since then though a lot of new information has come my way about the Wii-U, a lot of it confirming some of my speculations. One really great source of info this a YouTuber by the name of Shokio. He is currently doing a series of videos (like right now a new one is coming out every day) talking about all things Wii-U related from the technical specs, to the controller, to the impact it will have etc. He's a really great source and aside from a t
FAQ: FFXIII-2 Starseeker weaponEdit: Many of you asked for a transformation vid. So, I made this video clip. Enjoy!FAQ: FFXIII-2 Starseeker weapon2 years ago in Personal More Like This
In my former journal I asked if you would like for me to explain how my Starseeker weapon was made. Since there were quite some people that would like me to do so, I decided to make this FAQ journal. So, I hope I'l answer some questions you might have about this curious weapon and I hope I can explain it well enough for you all to understand.
Note that I made the weapon a couple of months ago and I don't remember everything very clear of the making of it. But, I'll do my best.
So, first things first: The Starseeker
Serah's weapon is quite the interesting one. This because it's a transformable one just like her sister's, Lightning. Nonetheless, it's a transformable one from bow to blade, which original form is none other than the cute moogle companion, Mog.
Of course, Final Fantasy is all about 'Fantasy', so making an exact workin

:iconsteinboredplz: I don't know about any of you (I'll just stand on my soap box for a minute here) but when someone finds me cold hearted because I view my own stressors and my physical and mental responses to them as scientifically interesting, it kind of makes me feel sorry for them. Some people take their own troubles too seriously, and it ties them up in knots; me, I see them like they are. I know I have some irrational thought patterns about certain things, but even though I know they're irrational, I do them anyway, which I find fascinating about myself. Yes, some people think it's weird that I'm one of my own test subjects, but haven't you ever wanted to figure out the way your own psyche works so that you can estimate roughly what your reaction would be to certain things, should you

Book 3 Foley Art!From Wikipedia: Foley is the reproduction of everyday sound effects which are added in post production to enhance the quality of audio for films, television, video, video games, and radio. These reproduced sounds can be anything from the swishing of clothing and footsteps to squeaky doors and breaking glass. The best foley art is so well integrated into a film that it goes unnoticed by the audience. It helps to create a sense of reality within a scene.Book 3 Foley Art!2 years ago in Personal More Like This

On the other side of the mic is Vinny Quisetti, the “foley walker,” the person performing the sounds to match the movement in the footage. Unfortunately, Aran can’t show clips from the series, but if you are interested in filmmaking, this is a good look int
The Photographers Guide : Taking Quality PhotosThe camera is just a tool, it's not magical. You don't even need a DSLR to be a photographer. Anyone can take a picture on any device, and it be considered art. It is how you do this that most effects your outcome. For example, take me. I don't own a dedicated camera - used my camera phone - the Nokia N8 - for each and every photograph i have clicked that is in my gallery. Sounds odd ? Well its the truth. What doesn't kill you makes you strongerI just went back and read some of the horrible comments I've received from people in the past. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger3 years ago in Personal More Like This
I remember how hurtful it was and how much I wanted to just dissapear from it all. I felt helpless and hopeless.
The internet can be a terrible place.
When people aren't accountable for what they say they feel a certain sense of power. The ability to judge others without being judged ourselves is a position of immense dominance. It's exhilarating to exercise that dominance over another person.
But now, looking back, I realize that it doesn't bother me anymore. I don't even bother hiding, deleting or responding to those comments because it just doesn't bug me. I feel a resounding "eh",
I keep those comments up so that people can see the kind of behaviour that people reduce themselves to when they're behind a computer screen. Every "this is shit" or ""he" is just a dyke and a "she"" has meaning to me now. It means that I've overcome something that I never would have thought possible. I'm not hu

Feature: Hocus PocusWhen I think of halloween the movie Hocus Pocus always comes to mind. It's such a classic I can't imagine going a year without watching it. It also happens to be one of shuttermonkey's favourite movies of all time, seeing that he was born on Halloween. We've decided to watch it a little early this year so we can get some other great spooky themed movies in every week up to his birthday. I've decided to do a feature for each movie so bear with me, or be on the look out for more journals featuring artwork based on some amazing movies! Good evening again.
Tonight I'm going to show you how I made my Full Hollow (Vasto Lorde) Ichigo's helmet (from Bleach).
Hopefully you will get some hints or tips.
This is not the only way to make a helmet/mask. I'm just going to show you how I figured everything out.
This was also my first time ever making something like this, so it's now perfect or anything!
Thanks for reading and let's get started! ^^
This is how the whole thing SHOULD look like. A mask and utterly ripped character with cool muscles (prolly have to hit the gym still at least 5 years to even achieve something like that).
Well, so what do we need?
-Plaster of Paris (bandage type, whole box costs around 20 dollars)
-Fingers (your own)
-Some modeling clay mass, I used the first one I found. Brown modeling mass which does not need any heating. (10 dollars a package)
-Black and white spray paint (any typ

Once in a while people will ask me what kind of brush that I used in photoshop. I kept meaning to make this kind of post so I could explain it better. So if you guys have anymore question about photoshop I will be glad to answer it and make another Q&A post.
1. WHAT TYPE OF BRUSH DO YOU USE, IS IT BASIC BRUSH OR A CHALK TYPE BRUSH?

Make sure under the Window> Brushes> Shape Dynamics> Size Jitter's Control is under Pen Pressure. This brush is useful for inking and blocking basic colors.

Ten Tips for Nature PhotographersThis article came about after a deviant specifically requested that we write ten clear, simple tips for Photographing Nature. Troubleshooting articles and information can be very useful, but sometimes breaking it down into manageable memorable chunks is so much easier. So without further ado please enjoy our Ten Tips for Nature Photographers!Ten Tips for Nature Photographers2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
1) Get into your environment
Yes, it's rhubarb. To be a true photographer, you must be at one with rhubarb.
When we talk about photographing Nature, we don't necessarily mean wide expansive rolling landscapes. Whilst they contain any number of elements that are nature focused and made up from natural resources - Nature Photography is about getting into your environment and getting up close and personal with these elements. So think of it like you are Photographing the components that make up that beautiful lan
Adoptables, I sold one, now what?So you started doing adoptables, made or used a nice lineart, put some pretty colours on it and someone liked it enough to shove money or points in your face and demand it for themselves. Awesome, you just sold your first adoptable and I can tell you that the main part (making one and finding a buyer) is done.Adoptables, I sold one, now what?10 months ago in Personal More Like This
Since selling adoptables is not easy, many people concentrate only on the first part of it, which is made up of designing and advertising the adoptable. And then suddenly a buyer appears and pays.
I just sold my first adoptable. Now what do I do?
Well, the first thing to do is 'close' the adoptable. You do it by changing the adoptable status and adding a 'CLOSED' to the title or somewhere in the description. I strongly suggest to add the 'closed' status only after being paid because if you're being scammed, the 'closed' status can trick any other interested buyers into believing that the adoptable is truly gone.
You might also want to take it down from the grou

In many people’s mind, cosplay is most often related to complicated costumes, armors, impressive props, out-of-this world creatures and other visually stunning elements. But what about those characters who are depicted in casual clothes, with casual hairstyle and nothing out of ordinary to present at the first sight?
