This is cover art I did for the Long Hidden Anthology: Speculative Fiction From the Margins of History www.kickstarter.com/projects/1…

I wanted it to kind of look like this area had been submerged for a long time but was just recently drained out (either through a mechanism or through magic), revealing hidden monuments and a path for the group to use to escape the burning city in the background.

I got some feedback recently that I never did landscapes, so I dug through my drafts and found a messy sketch from 2009, and then expanded the image a ton and fixed it up. The original sketch only had the top 1/4 of the image, and it was all just plain hills. This was originally inspired by a part from the book I was reading at the time (Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell), and on my repaint I redid a lot of areas and threw in inspiration from the book I’m reading now (The Silmarillion). That said, it's not fan art (it's not anywhere near accurate for it to be fan art, haha), it's more just me pulling bits of pieces of ideas that I liked from different places. :)

Another piece for Imagined Realms! This is actually an older sketch that I went back and colored. It was fun to revisit this one. :)

There is a 1.5 hr process video available for this piece on my Imagined Realms kickstarter page, so if you'd like to see how this was created, please check it out.

(this breaks my record of "most cats included in a picture," with 15 cats. because reasons.)

This is a piece originally made for the Prismatic Art Collection. The intention was to do a big fantasy battle featuring women heroes of different backgrounds. It was fun doing a fantasy scene where I got to choose all the parts rather than work solely from a strict description (although it did end up taking longer for me to complete, since I kept changing my mind). :)

This is an illustration for Tor.com, for Marissa K. Lingen's short story "The Ministry of Changes."

Here is the next image in the series I did last year for the Llewellyn Worldwide 2014 Astrology Calendar. :)

Virgo: August 23- September 22. Mutable Earth sign. Colors: Earthy greens, browns, wheat gold and ochre. Detail oriented, rational, industrious, harvester, gatherer, organizer. They care about the group, and love to be of service to others. Less focused on interacting with others than they are taking care of others needs. Love working with their hands. Associated with harvests, crops, orchards, wheat fields, healing, teaching, sorting. Here, Virgo is taking her harvest to go share with others (originally I had her holding a list, but I like this pose better; now she has a bunch of papers rolled up in the basket on her back). This is another of my favorites out of the set :) <3

A princess and her serpentine dragon :)

This started off as more experimenting with shape and form, and then I started obsessing over it and had to finish it and get it out of the way so I could get back to focusing on my actual work. *cough* Overall I’m really happy with how it turned out. :)

Edit: Here is a detail shot, as requested by ~NonieR :) [link]

Here's the last one! This was for a series I did last year for the Llewellyn Worldwide 2014 Astrology Calendar. :)

Sagittarius: November 22 - December 21. Mutable Fire sign. Colors: Deep purple, burgundy and deep red. Outgoing, athletic, curious, spiritual, confident, high spirited, restless. Often are wanderers, truth-seekers, believers, at least metaphorically. Have universal concerns and strong beliefs and want to save the world. That said, they are also very fun-loving, gregarious, and great to be around. Ruled by Jupiter and typically associated with an archer, so I’ve depicted the sign as an archer high up on a hill, shooting fire into the sky. (I guess she’s on Ganymede or something since Jupiter is that big in the sky. XD )

I want to give very special thanks to Lindsey Carmichael, Olympic Bronze medalist archer, who posed for me for this sign and helped me out immensely with getting the archery parts to look halfway accurate (which I would have completely failed at without her help). She is an amazing and super-nice person, and I am incredibly honored that I got to work with her. Thank you, Lindsey!! <3 (and thank you for being so patient with me, haha)

Here is the next image I did for the Llewellyn Worldwide 2014 Astrology Calendar. :)

Gemini: May 21 - June 21. Mutable Air sign. Intellectual, dual-minded, curious, young at heart, easily distracted. Colors: Yellow and monotone shades. Associated with communication, libraries, books, education, and passing on information. Has a myriad of interests but doesn't always follow through. Gemini is traditionally known as the Twins, so I've depicted the sign as twin youths (perhaps with short attention spans) running around in a huge library sifting through papers and books. (Note: the papers weren't torn out of the books; maybe they’re just notes that they’ve taken that are flying around).
