Big kiriban contest - win 1 500 points! CLOSEDBig kiriban contest - win 1 500 points! CLOSED3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Due to the fact that I keep getting notes and comments how this and that person cheated, I have to close this contest.
I'm sorry guys.
I've always been trying to be kind and fair and I organized many kiribans already but I hate it when people don't play fair and that's why I really have to cancel this.
But, stay tuned. I decided to give a 3 month premium membership plus points giveaway!
Noone will be able to cheat that way, and luck will decide who the special winner is.
P.S. Points I was going to give you in kiriban contest will be transferred to this new contest.
Check it out here and fav the journal to participate:
Hello, my lovely watchers and kind visitors!
It's my birthday in a few days (20th June), so I decided to organize another kiriban contest with lots of points as prizes for the lucky winners.
Here are the official rules. They are simple, bu
Everyone is a CriticNote: This was originally written in reply to a friend's journal. Said friend had left some well-meaning constructive crits, to which the artist had thrown a hissy fit. Friend then posted a journal lamenting the tendency of artists to blow up in one's face when confronted with friendly con-crits. ("We're only trying to help them improve!")Everyone is a Critic2 years ago in Personal More Like This
This was my response, now slightly edited for clarity. I'm posting it here because it occurs to me that other artists might feel differently, and I'd like to hear your feelings on the matter—hopefully, if we can all be open and honest about what we want, then maybe we can better ovoid these misunderstandings.
Also worth noting: I'm speaking specifically of visual art here, but I hold similar feelings towards critiques of comics and plain prose.
Everyone is a Critic
Here's a thing to keep in mind: everyone is a critic.
Being a critic is easy.
Being a constructive critic is a little harder.
But it's still easier than actually making the a
PE: Tolerance Towards Daily DeviationsIf you're like me, one of the first things you do every morning is turn on the computer to check the DDs for the day, if you make this a habit sooner or later you'll see something featured that you won't like at all, making you spill your morning coffee all over the screen.PE: Tolerance Towards Daily Deviations3 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
Oh the crime! That poor coffee going to waste.
Before you hit the Caps Lock button and begin an essay about the drop of quality of DDs, stop. Take a deep breath, maybe walk around for a bit to cool down, and think about what you're going to do. To begin with, complaining about the DD leaving a comment is extremely disrespectful for the artist because most of the time, they didn't even ask to be featured. Instead, take a moment to consider why was it picked, DDs are chosen for far more than just being visually attractive, as the article Daily Deviations - The Myth and the Legend explained; we often look f

Why artists get so pissed off --"Why do you artists always get so pissed off when someone uses your artwork? You should take it as a compliment!"Why artists get so pissed off --9 months ago in Personal More Like This
"You should take it as a Compliment --"
A compliment would be admiring an artist's work where they post it, and if you really want to use it that badly, complimenting them would be you having enough respect for them to ask first.
Most of us don't get mad because you use it, it's because you use it without asking or pretend you didn't know who/where it came from when there's a link to where you can find the original artist on the image.
Taking someone's car to crash it in a derby isn't a compliment to them any more than taking someone's art to wreck it or claim it is a compliment. More so without asking.
"What about realism artists?! They copy from photographs all the time, no originality there but you don't yell at them for copying photos! What makes
Womens Rights againHonestly Tired of itWomens Rights again11 months ago in Personal More Like This
I’m honestly sick and tired of making comics or journals or whatever about women’s rights. But it seems like every week there’s a new story about how some asshole guy makes some sort or sexist remark, or how women are being excluded from some place, or killed in others... I’m so sick and tired of it all. I wish I didn’t have to talk about it all the time because I think “women’s rights” are really just part of having “common sense,” but apparently the rest of geek/gaming culture doesn’t think that way.
I was going to make a couple of comics for SYAC elaborating on these recent issues, but I just don’t feel like it anymore. I don’t want SYAC to become a preach-wagon for Women’s Right’s issues more than they already have. So instead I’m bringing you the rundown in this journal instead of making more comics about them.
