.Portrait photography is not about making people look beautiful. Or showing perfect skin. Or sparkling eyes. Or hourglass silhouette. It is about seeing the beauty in them. So thank you, Photography, for truly teaching me how to make a difference between good and bad people.
And from now on, I'm taking the photos I want to take. And no one will ever take my passion away from me.

Why Drive will be the movie that is remembered in years to come
Film Noir is a genre of “life in the shadows” movies that became popular in America during
the uncertain times of World War II. Westerns have remained a shorthand for the American
psyche with their sullen outsiders with a personal code of honor bucking the system.
Samurai films mirror the lone avenger protagonist, but set against a longing for a lost
society of incorruptible values. Now and again a notable contemporary noir or western or
samurai film emerges with little fanfare amidst all the commercial cacophony of the louder,
bolder, more spectacular action films that rule today’s box office. One such gem of film
blending all three genres flashed out of the shadows briefly in 2011. It’s called “Drive”

I tend to keep things close to the hip, and I generally think there are much more qualified people than me, but sometimes its cool to hear perspectives from people at different points along any given road...
The topic: Photography
The reason: Im bothered by what seems to me to be a lack of good foundational information about how to approach photography.
Someone asked me a simple question on my facebook page recently. It was actually the first question anyone has asked me directly about my photography which I think is awesome...im still stoked that people other than my immediate family like what Im doing.
But to be honest, the question disappointed me.
The person simply asked, "What gear do you use?"
Yeah I know....its a simple question, and actually there is nothing wrong with the question itself. And if that was ALL he was actually askin

Tattooing has existed since the very beginnings of Neolithic human expression and has since those ancient beginnings continued to be a reliable flash indicator of personality type. There are those people who get tattoos and there those people who simply do not. Even though the social opprobrium for getting inked has greatly disappeared in recent years, and even though skin art has become almost boringly de rigueur amongst rock guitarists and other entertainers, there is still one element that separates the tattooed from the non-tattooed in terms of artistic appreciation: commitment.
Tattoos may be the first “interactive” art form. The art lover doesn’t just buy an artist’s artwork – he or she becomes one with artwork, he or she commits to becoming a living canvas for the artwork, he or she, by choosing the tattoo to be borne forever, shares authorship with the tattoo artist of the artwork. Emoticons! Hold the Milk, Please.Everybody knows the best part about growing up is sugar-encrusted, marshmallow-loaded breakfast cereal. Luckily, the best part about being grown up is that you are no longer at risk of choking on the toy that drops out of that cereal box.Emoticons! Hold the Milk, Please.4 years ago in Personal More Like This
This year, go back to school with a good breakfast and some sweet (but not sugar-encrusted) emoticon gear. Unlike our intern, please, be sure to keep breakfast and emoticons separate. Our new Emoticon Keychains, while very chewy, will fuel you all day long with their good vibes alone. So yeah, don't eat them.
We have tons of emoticon gear, so breakfast isn't the only time to get down on some emotie goodness. Check out our shirts, buttons, and our all-time favorite, full-size stressballs. In fact, we now have so much emoticon gear to sink your stressed-out fingers into, we gave emoticons their own category. Click to chec

comment on it.
I will make sure I visit your page and comment on one of your deviations, giving it a constructive comment/critique.
one lucky deviant who participates in this project will get 100 points
Why am I doing this?
I'm trying to show to deviants a real value of good feedback. It's something we should all learn to appreciate, when the comments aren't just pure words like awesome, wow, good, cool...
Deviantart is a big community with many exposed/underexposed artists but all of us are the same when it comes to getting feedback. We all get good and bad.
The Fractal Universe:icontechgnotic:The Fractal Universe5 years ago in Personal More Like This
Is a photograph only a record, something created by a machine? Can photography ever truly be considered art? That question seems quaint and laughable these days, but if you do a little research you will find that once upon a time it was a raging debate. Thankfully a consensus has been reached that the agency of the photographer – his or her eye and critical mind – choosing the subject and manipulating the machine (the camera that is the art instrument) is what establishes photographs as potential works of art when created by an artist-photographer. Pretty basic common sense, huh? So why then is there now a debate as to whether FRACTAL ART is truly art – or just something produced by poking patterns into a computer? Isn't it just really random e-graffiti, a fibonacci button mash?
Here we go again… Hopefully it won’t take nearly a century again before fractal art is recog
The Declaration of Rights of the BulliedYou have the right to feel pain and hurt when someone says or does something that hurts you, even unintentionally. The Declaration of Rights of the Bullied3 years ago in Art Features More Like This
You have the right to brush off someone else's words and actions and not allow them to affect your life.
You have the right to lose respect for someone who hurts you.
You have the right to be empathetic, and choose to understand that their words don't necessarily mean who they are.
You have the right to believe that someone is bullying you out of sheer sadistic cruelty.
You have the right to believe that sometimes the meanest people are those who are the most hurt inside.
You have the right to stand up for yourself in the heat of the moment. To call out behaviour that hurts you or others. To point fingers and say "This is wrong. This needs to change."
You have the right to stand up for yourself days, weeks, months or years after the fact. Sometimes you graduate from school and you and that bully are both in your 30s. Maybe they've matured. Maybe they haven't. You ha
Listen Live to $spyed on the radio! Creative expression through music!Listen Live to $spyed on the radio!5 years ago in Personal More Like This
Before there was deviantART, Co-Founder and CEO Angelo Sotira, aka spyed, founded a music community called Dimension Music, or DMusic. As music is one of many avenues of artistic expression, creating deviantART as an outlet for the visual arts seemed to follow suit. However, music has always been near and dear to spyed's heart.
That's why when Southern California radio station KCRW asked spyed if he'd like to participate in their Guest DJ Project, he jumped on the opportunity. KCRW's Guest DJ Project invites an array of cultural icons to share and discuss songs that have inspired them. Actors, authors, chefs, athletes, directors, tech entrepreneurs and more share their musical passions, giving deep insight into both their lives and their creative process.
During his interview, Angelo chose songs meaningful to him, such as an exc

After a 3 year absence, the Holiday Card Project returned in 2012 and was more successful than ever! Over 2500 deviants from 60 countries participated this year, with more than 3500 cards received. With such an excellent response, we wanted to ensure we were spreading the love as much as possible. We asked for volunteers to help distribute cards to their local hospitals, and with the extra assistance of a few super deviants, we were able to distribute cards to 23 hospitals around the world!
Most hospitals were comfortable taking the cards and distributing them to patients on food trays or through hospital volunteers. While we aren't always able to interact
