Do Not TouchI remember not liking anything at the Art Museum. I was 15 and my mother wondered why I was walking so fast through the galleries. I'm not sure, nothing impressed me, nothing made me stop. And then I saw them, giant sized photographs in a room I hadn't been in yet, the colors, the lighting, the story they told, just everything made me still. They were roped off, but I didn't care, I had to touch them, I had to see if it was real.Do Not Touch2 years ago in Personal More Like This
So I did, I ran my fingers up and down the photographs wondering how something like this could even be made, how everything could come together so perfectly in a picture, and at the time I didn't know it because I hadn't even started photography at that age, but I fell in love with it then, and I always remember that moment when people ask me why I do photography.
"Do Not Touch That Boy!" The curator yelled at me when he saw me running my hands all over the expensive as fuck art, and I pulled back feeling like I did something wrong. But I know now that i

Photo Editing in LinuxFor anyone interested, Ive done considerable amounts of experimentation with building photographic workflows on Linux.Photo Editing in Linux2 years ago in Personal More Like This
After trying just about every base system, window manager, and editing tool in the open source world, Ive come up with something that I personally really like, is really stable, and the tools all work well together.
So if you have wondered at all what works and what doesnt in a production capacity, I wont tell you what you "should" use, Ill just tell you what works for me.
Base system: Debian stable. Yeah I know, Ubuntu has better repos, Arch has newer packages, etc etc. I have built all of these and used them and I have had the fewest interoperability issues with Debian. It runs like a rock. Ubuntu runs hot, and uses ALOT more memory at idle than almost any other system Ive tested. The memory spikes when launching and using multiple photo apps can cause editors to freeze up. Mageia Linux is pretty nice, but there are still some issues. and I tend to think apt-get is a

Girls are like apples!"GIRLS ARE LIKE APPLES. The best ones are at the top of the trees. The boys don't want to reach for the good ones because they're AFRAID, of falling and getting HURT, instead they just get the ROTTEN apples that are on the ground, that aren't as good, but easy to get. So the apples at the top think that something is wrong with them when in reality, they're AMAZING, they just have to wait for the right boy to come along, the one who is brave enough to climb all the way to the top."Girls are like apples!2 years ago in Personal More Like This

I wanted to share a completely different passion of mine with you all - music. I recorded this video on the second night of trying to sing and play the piano at the same time, and I decided to step outside my comfort zone and make something out of it.
I hope that you all enjoy my version of "The Noose" by one of my favourite bands - A Perfect Circle. I can't stop listening to them these days...

How much skin do you need for an erotic picture?"None", some say. I've read this once in a magazine article about porn. They argued showing genitals isn't erotic at all. "A truly erotic picture doesn't show anything and leaves everything to your imagination", it went on. As a good example they gave the love scene in the car from the movie Titanic. How much skin do you need for an erotic picture?2 years ago in Personal More Like This
For those of you who haven't seen the movie here's how much naked skin you see in this scene:
It's nothing but a hand against a foggy glass, but in the context of the movie it expresses all the passion there is. This is a very beautiful scene, there is no question about it. Here's the question I asked myself: Is everyone who wants to see more than a hand on foggy glass really a pervert? That was exactly what the article was suggesting. But isn't it a little steep? And: can you expect from a movie like Titanic the ultimate answer?
Let's pretend for a moment you can. I don't know if the guys from the magazine article saw the whole movie but there is actually another interesting scene where R
Modeling, How I Love to Hate itA mix of conflicting emotions come over me whenever I think about my journey into the strange world of modeling. On one hand, there's the adventure, the travel opportunities, the spectacular images, the admiration, the joy of success, and the chance to meet so many amazing artists...then there's the disappointments, the failures, the repetition, the detachment that sometimes occurs, the constant time away from home, the jerks/creeps, the sleep deprivation, the stress, and the nagging feelings of doubt always present in the back of my mind...the dark moments where I occasionally question my own sanity.Modeling, How I Love to Hate it2 years ago in Personal More Like This
It gets harder and harder to top what I've already done, and to live up to my own expectations. I tell myself I should be proud of what I've already accomplished, which is more than I could have ever hoped, especially considering my age and stats. I *am* proud of how far I've come, but somehow it's never quite enough. As long as I'm modeling, I can't help but try to surpass the work I

Color Inspiration - RedHello again!Color Inspiration - Red2 months ago in Art Features More Like This
This is the first of a 7 part journal about colors. I'll take the opportunity of the 7 Days Color Challenge to share some material I've been gathering recently.
Hope you find this interesting for either the challenge or future projects. ^_^
Red has more personal associations than any other color. Recognized as a stimulant, red is inherently exciting. Red draws attention, so a keen use of red as an accent can immediately focus attention on a particular element. (shout out to extroverted people, that's your color (ﾉ◕ヮ◕)ﾉ*)
Red is particularly interesting because it's on both ends of the emotional spectrum. On one end there's passion and love and on the other there's danger, fear and anger. I'm wondering which of these emotions you most associate with the color red. ^^
It's the first color bab
Multi-Submit and Scheduled SubmitTwo heavily requested tools to make submitting art to deviantART even easier than before have just been launched to Beta Testers!Multi-Submit and Scheduled Submit2 years ago in DeviantArt Announcements More Like This
Multi-submit is a tabbed interface built into the Submit page which allows you to upload and submit multiple deviations at once.
There are several ways to upload multiple files:
Drag and drop several files onto the Submit page at once. Select several files from your Sta.sh by opening the "Select file from Sta.sh" modal and dragging to select, or by using control+click (command+click, for Mac users) to highlight several files at once.
Submit an entire stack from your Sta.sh by hovering over a stack and clicking Submit! You can then change settings for each one, and then save them for later or submit them to your gallery. In addition, the Submit page will retain the order and settings of any files uploaded, even if you navigate away fro

It's a fucking commercial. Nobody give a shit. Many years ago, when I first started to work in the advertising industry, we used to have this thing called The Overnight Test. It worked like this: My creative partner Laurence and I would spend the day covering A2 sheets torn from layout pads with ideas for whatever project we were currently engaged upon – an ad for a new gas oven, tennis racket or whatever. Scribbled headlines. Bad puns. Stick-men drawings crudely rendered in fat black Magic Marker. It was a kind of brain dump I suppose. Everything that tumbled out of our heads and mouths was committed to paper. Anything completely ridiculous, irrelevant or otherwise unworkable was filtered out as we worked, and by beer 'o' clock there would be an impressive avalanche of screwed-up paper filling the corner of the room where our comically undersized waste-bin resided. It's a fucking commercial. With great access comes the great responsibility of discernment.

As we traverse the final phases of maximum raw information accumulation, potentially equipping us for jacking in to the promise of the Singularity, the contents of many lifetimes’ worth of knowledge, art, education, and history are now at our fingertips. More and more Universities, libraries and arts institutions have swung open their digital doors and granted access to their lectures, courses and curricula free of charge to anyone in the world with a connection to the web. Access to education is fundamentally shifting our society towards an unmappable

I TRULY believe the human body is one of the most natural forms of human portraiture there is. I don't do this or strive for for cheap attention, it's something I find transcends that, everyone has a body, it's as natural as gravity, and I don't think that if you do nudes it implies you crave attention or are a slut. Nudes have been subjects of art since the dawn of man and I am just taking my crack and reference modeling . I realize there are gawkers and am not naive to that but I do this for the real artists and like minded people.
