Modeling tipsI have been receiving several messages asking me for modeling tips, and I can't honestly spend my time answering to each one of those messages, even though I sometimes feel identified with the ones who send me those, I just don't have enough time, and most times I can't even read the messages I receive unless they seem to be job offerings or interesting proposals. I love seeing new messages in my inbox, even if I don't answer or even read them, just looking at those in general makes me feel supported, thanks. But the thing here is (sorry, I am not a concise person and in my personal profiles I am gonna be as long as I wish to be) that I am making my personal tips to give my honest opinion of what is best to start into alternative modeling. This way I can give this information to more people than I could give otherwise, and since this message is made comfortably and with enough time, it will probably be a lot better advice than it would be if I am just trying to answer in two minutes aModeling tips2 years ago in Personal More Like This

What To Do If Your Art Is StolenRecently, some of my artworks were stolen and used in t-shirt design competitions. Thanks to everyone helping out, the problem was quickly resolved. In case it happens to you, I've written a tutorial based on my own experience: What To Do If Your Art Is Stolen. I used a Creative Commons license for the blog entry so that anyone can use it for educational purposes. I started this project months in advance of the shoot. I knew creating 200ish skulls would be long and arduous so I allotted myself 6 months from day 1 to the final images. To make the skulls, I simply used a skull cake making mold but baked paper mache instead of cake. I basically had my oven going for 2 months straight, making around 3 skulls per day. I have to give a big thank you to my mom for letting me take her oven hostage and fuming our house with burning paper smell (:
Here are some of the completed skulls. I'm spray painting them cream since some of the skulls caramelized in the oven. When you bake skulls everyday, it starts to become a habit and sometimes I forgot and left them in the oven for half a day :

I tend to keep things close to the hip, and I generally think there are much more qualified people than me, but sometimes its cool to hear perspectives from people at different points along any given road...
The topic: Photography
The reason: Im bothered by what seems to me to be a lack of good foundational information about how to approach photography.
Someone asked me a simple question on my facebook page recently. It was actually the first question anyone has asked me directly about my photography which I think is awesome...im still stoked that people other than my immediate family like what Im doing.
But to be honest, the question disappointed me.
The person simply asked, "What gear do you use?"
Yeah I know....its a simple question, and actually there is nothing wrong with the question itself. And if that was ALL he was actually askin
Want Some Free Photo Retouch?Yes you heard that right! I am offering free Image editing,Want Some Free Photo Retouch?2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I was just thinking, one of my favorite past times is retouching, editing, and color correcting photo's. Why not offer it to you my friends! It doesn't matter what the photo quality is, I will do my best with what you give me (though extreme blur is pretty hard to retouch, I guess I could color correct it). I can create a retouched base image, make several different crops and then give you several different color corrected options. I will do this for you free of charge, just link me with an editing credit if you post the color corrected versions online. Seriously don't worry about the images base quality, sometimes a challenge is fun and I can probably do your images even just a little bit of good.
Also don't worry about how many you send me, I have no problem going through several hundred images a day.
If you would like some photo retouch:

✿ Watercolor Equipment II - Additional Tools
In the first week of Artist's Toolbox, we discussed basic Watercolor Equipment such as paper, brushes and paints. Second week's article presents additional tools, equipment that some artists use to enhance their watercolor creations or just for the fun of it, however none of them is crucial to create a watercolor painting.
I divided these tools into two categories - those used to Create Highlights and those used to Create Textures. Bottom part of this article belongs to our watercolorists and their Personal Experience regarding additional tools.

Traditional Art Week at projecteducate continues! During Artist's Toolbox weeks, I've published articles dedicated to watercolor tools (Watercolor Equipment I - Basic Tools, Watercolor Equipment II - Additional Tools). You should go grab your tools now, because the next series of articles will be focusing on painting methods. I sincerely hope these will help you and wish you all happy painting!
Laying a wash
A wash is a large area in a watercolor painting where the paint flow and diffusion have been manipulated to efface individual brushstrokes. Within wash areas, color transitions are usually gradual and span analogous hues. Laying a wash is one of the most satisfying tasks in watercolor painting. Essentials of this s

I'd probably not recommend you try to emulate my style or my way or working.
What I would recommend though is that you try to go outside and sketch, sketch people in the street, people walking, sitting, getting up, taking off their clothes or putting them back on, people hugging, people fighting, people in conversation in a group, people on the bus, swimming, dancing, eating, ( lot's of eating as it is pretty hard to convey exactly the feeling of eating), sleeping, people thinking... If you want to tell stories, most of your images should have people thinking.. that's what is going to make your images come alive.
Use a tablet if you have one, a sharpie, a pastel, a rock dipped in ink..anything that can make a mark.
The tool is cool, but secondary.. first.. you n

It's not just the artwork that tells you something about it's creator - on the internet, the way you present it is at least equally as important. Your painting can be a masterpiece, hanged in a local gallery, but as long as you post a blurry, badly cropped picture named "1564873" along with "..." in an artist's description, nobody will ever bother visiting your gallery. Creating a nice, representative profile page and setting a certain visual quality standard takes extra time and effort, but if you really care for your work (even if it's just a hobby), you should treat it with some respect.
I've already written a related article called The power of context that tried to explain how to place your work in a context in order to better connect with your audience, this one is focused

✿ Watercolor Equipment
Watercolor is a painting technique in which the paints are made of pigments suspended in a water-soluble binder. Usually, the result is transparent and appear luminous because the pigments are laid down in a relatively pure form with a few fillers obscuring the pigment color. This medium was never taken as seriously as "high art" techniques such as oil painting and was rather seen as pale and miniaturist, but it's gradually reclaiming it's place as a vehicle for the most beautiful and unexpected artistic expression. Watercolor can be vibrant and large, very vital, spontaneous and leaning a little on luck. All these aspects make watercolor painting a medium with great potential for new discoveries.

It's a fucking commercial. Nobody give a shit. Many years ago, when I first started to work in the advertising industry, we used to have this thing called The Overnight Test. It worked like this: My creative partner Laurence and I would spend the day covering A2 sheets torn from layout pads with ideas for whatever project we were currently engaged upon – an ad for a new gas oven, tennis racket or whatever. Scribbled headlines. Bad puns. Stick-men drawings crudely rendered in fat black Magic Marker. It was a kind of brain dump I suppose. Everything that tumbled out of our heads and mouths was committed to paper. Anything completely ridiculous, irrelevant or otherwise unworkable was filtered out as we worked, and by beer 'o' clock there would be an impressive avalanche of screwed-up paper filling the corner of the room where our comically undersized waste-bin resided. It's a fucking commercial. How much skin do you need for an erotic picture?"None", some say. I've read this once in a magazine article about porn. They argued showing genitals isn't erotic at all. "A truly erotic picture doesn't show anything and leaves everything to your imagination", it went on. As a good example they gave the love scene in the car from the movie Titanic. How much skin do you need for an erotic picture?11 months ago in Personal More Like This
For those of you who haven't seen the movie here's how much naked skin you see in this scene:
It's nothing but a hand against a foggy glass, but in the context of the movie it expresses all the passion there is. This is a very beautiful scene, there is no question about it. Here's the question I asked myself: Is everyone who wants to see more than a hand on foggy glass really a pervert? That was exactly what the article was suggesting. But isn't it a little steep? And: can you expect from a movie like Titanic the ultimate answer?
Let's pretend for a moment you can. I don't know if the guys from the magazine article saw the whole movie but there is actually another interesting scene where R
