Blow Me Away
Chapter 12: Boxers and Brats
“Ouch!” You shoved Deidara's hand away and turned your head so he couldn't reach the cut on your cheek. “That hurts!”
Deidara sighed and folded his arms, fed up with your constant complaints and fighting. “Well of course it does, idiot! You're totally beat up! Un!”
You squeezed your lips together and mumbled, “I don't need you to tell me that.”
He passed a hand over his face and stood up. “This childish behavior is ridiculous...” he said. You made to retort but he brushed his hands together and began to pack your medical things away. “Well, it doesn't really matter – seems I'm done here.” He looked at you over his shoulder. “Your throat is badly bruised but will heal in time, and the cut on your face isn't too deep, although it will probably leave a scar.”
You shrugged in indifference. “I don't mind scars.”
“Not very lady

Chapter 13: The Truth
You watched as Deidara worked tiredly on his clay bird.
The moon was the only light for him to work by, and even with the pale glow lighting the darkened earth, he continued to lose concentration and his art would come out as a mushed mess. Sasori was seated beside you, clad in his usual hunched form, and also watched as his partner struggled.
You felt guilty for causing him to worry so much and for forcing the two of them to have to travel by night when they needed sleep. Deidara had muttered that it couldn’t be helped and Sasori had just shrugged, but you could see the exhaustion in their eyes.
Why was everything always your fault?
“You know, he really does care about you.” Sasori’s throaty voice reached your ears, quiet and undertone so Deidara –who was busy swearing like a sailor – couldn’t hear.
You drew in a breath, both relieved and bothered by this statement.

Chapter 8: I Hate You
“…ra are you sure she’s the one…?”
“I was there, I…”
“Leader-sama won’t be pleased if…”
“…no Danna you’re always…”
“…because you’re an idiot...”
“How mean! Un!...”
“What does Leader-sama want with her?”
“It’s not your place to know.”
“Sasori no Danna doesn’t know either, do you?”
“Urusei! You should be happy I convinced them to leave you in charge of her!”
“We need to keep moving. The hideout isn’t too far from here.”
“She’s waking up. Un.”
Something pricked your arm, and their voices blurred into a dying drone.
“Oi, wake up!” Someone lightly s

“Wait, Irina!” Russia called, following the secretary as she threw open the double doors and stormed out into the cold. “Let’s talk about thi– Irina please don’t quit! Come on, I’ll give you a raise!”
She never stopped to explain, never turned to look at him, didn’t even hesitate to quit her job – just left Russia in a state of complete disarray, his office messy and unmanageable without her, and not even a word of warning beforehand.
So that was it.
His secretary had just walked out on him… again.
The twentieth one.
He brought a hand up to his forehead and massaged it roughly as a sudden headache overtook his skull. There was no way he would ever get another secretary. Most women were too scared to work for him and the others were just too smart to even try. Hate letters and complaints, politics, economics, laws… No person in their right mind would ever take a job like that.

You just cant see it
as its hiding in my mind.
Slithering through my veins
as it tars my withered lungs.
There are monsters
but not in closets
or hidden under the bed.
They are the ghosts
of past regrets
and scars left unhealed.
I just don't show it
as I smile to let you know
that I am 'ok'
even if on the inside
I am not.
That you will notice
and leave me

I should have started my diet today.
I should have thrown all the junk food away.
I should have started by running a mile.
I SHOULD have started but I'm still in denial.
I should save money for an old car.
I should have but work is not THAT far.
I should have cleared all the junk in boxes
I should have but I'm entertained with toy foxes.
I should have painted the house with great care.
I should have fixed my old broken chair.
I should collect all the leaves in the yard.
I should have mailed your Christmas card.
I should have started enrolling for classes.
I should have tried to find my dear glasses.
I should have found some time to begin.
I should have made sure the clock's batteries were in.
I should have attempted to move out of the house.
I should have gotten rid of that old mouse.
I should have stopped playing video games.
I should have learned from last years shame.
I should have stuck to last years resolutions.
I should have planned with more cons

It is the liquid that pours after skin meets the blade.
The glow that appears on embarrassed cheeks,
And the hues that emerge when the sunset peaks.
It sounds like the crackle of a wood-burning fire.
When the boom of two quickening heart beats transpire.
And the billowing voices of a church-singing choir.
It tastes of the reddest and rarest of meat,
Like those tiny heart-shaped cinnamon sweets.
And lingers and burns with a chilli peppers heat.
It feels like the deepest roots of real pain.
And the lowest point of desperate shame.
It's the passion and power deep within your heart
And the inspiration that creates all beautiful art.

King of the lapis jewel heart,
Antithesis to my experience of disease and discomfort,
Supreme remedy for each of Samsara’s myriad sufferings;
Holder of the ultimate cure,
The pure nature of mind itself,
Incapable of defilement:
Cradle me in your medicine bowl
And nurture the healing qualities
Of my body, speech, and mind
Until nectar pours forth
From each pore, word and thought
That I may possess,
Eliminating the suffering of all beings everywhere,
As well as the plague of my ignorance,
A hidden weapon, and an enemy to peace.
Before the next world-age,
If any merit is in these aspirations,
Bless your children to accomplish the teaching
So that future generations may arise unfettered.

Today, she practices prayer behind the pillars
near the stairwell of the student commons.
Yesterday she could be seen in A building
by the rec room quiet and alone; content.
Monday I saw her situated near C building,
where I assume she has been studying art.
She rotates because it is salat; Muslim prayer.
When she prays her hijab falls over her face
in small folds, silent folds, worrying folds.
I’ve never seen her hair do the same.
But I push my bangs out of my eyesight,
cursing their constant presence and yet
adapt to my poorly-cut lengthy male strands
and pilgrim on by the makeshift masjid
in the student commons at the college.
I’ve never seen her.
I’ve never seen her rotate gracefully for me,
like an American woman would for a man:
“How does this look? Do you like it?”
She is not seeking validation; rather,
she rotates for herself so she doesn’t
hear the grin of the atypical American male:

Sitting down in the trunk by Loki, he kept staring at you, never taking his eyes off of you, you had enough feeling uncomfortable and asked, “What are you staring at?” your hair shifting to orange in annoyance.
“Your hair is quite intriguing. Are you using some form of enchantment?” he asked pressing for an answer with his eyes.
“No it’s not an enchantment, it just changes when my emotions does,” you said trying not to sound crazy.
“Emotions you say? So what color is orange?” he asked focusing his focus on your hair and scooting closer to you.
“Well annoyance,” you said feeling your cheeks grow red, then making your hair turn to a pale pink very quickly.
“And this color?” he asked stroking a strand of your hair.
“Um, n-nervous,” you said staring at the road not wanting to make eye contact. ‘Why does he keep asking all these questions?’ you thought to yourself.

Hoping the roots would remember his name
I watched him drop pieces of himself like bread crumbs
His lantern limbs quivering
I don’t think he ever really knew how lovely he was
And on a sunny day when the pavement was sweating
Out onto the roadside
Everyone else found out too
I don’t think I’ll ever forget him because he was like a dream catcher
So quiet and magical in the way his eyes turned green in the dark
And blue in the winter
Like he stored the world’s secrets behind his cuckoo spit heart

Mother of mothers, destroyer of fears,
Revealer and enlivener of the secret virtue
In every closed heart:
I prostrate to you, the diamond one
Who delivers all beings simultaneously
From the bonds of conditioned existence
And establishes them firmly
In the realm of the Conquerors.
Unsurpassed in virtue,
You set the perfect mold,
Accessible to all those who encounter you
Through your unfailing mastery
Of compassionate skillful action,
Which manifests itself as a shoreless ocean of blissful nectar
Existing for the enjoyment of all living beings,
Who may always find jewels in its depths.
Resting at once in a moment of pure faith, I pray—
Mother Tara, please stay close until the end
And give us the whole of your strength!

She dances tonight, in a city of ash.
Her feet leaving footprints, where the sand will splash.
Quietly mourning, as time goes by;
Where once she beheld a home in her eyes...
Yet naught but the barest of bones remain,
And so she dances, to soothe the pain.

I need you to stop what you're doing
And listen to me for a second.
I need you to understand my words
Even though they fall carelessly from my lips.
It will only take a few minutes, I promise.
I need you to know that I love you,
And that I always have.
I cared for you more than myself.
Nothing else matter as long as
You were there to comfort me,
And I thank you for that.
I think you should know that when I
Woke up this morning my first thoughts
Were of you, as they are every morning.
I wanted to know how you felt,
If you were okay,
If you were thinking of me…
Now for the hard part:
I need you to know that I don't want this.
Because it completely blindsided me.
I was suddenly picked up out of this universe
And thrown into another.
And now I am constantly needing a reminder of how to breathe.
I did not ask for this.
I could have picked someone better;
Someone who would wrap their arms
Around my waist and mean it when
They say that everything is okay,
But I didn't. I didn't choose.

By the words you shout
I lie crying
I can't calm dawn
You've promised me
You won't do it ever again
But you lied, as always
Such a shame
I don't want to see you
Not ever again
I've got my own life now
Please stay away
Please let me be happy
Don't make me hate myself
It's not all your fault
But you do share a blame
And there is something I've got to say
I don't hate you mum
But stop calling all the time
I don't hate you dad
But please stay out of my life
