Canada: The Past is Gone
You could see him, even though no one else could. You know what he's been through, but all the credit is given to Britain. He's your hero, but his brother is already self proclaimed. His own mother nations can't see him even after all he's done for them. America will waltz in and suddenly he's proclaimed the hero, only because he became fed up with the Germany, not because he was going to support his mother country.
His own brother has tried to take him over, more than once. The fear never left his mind. Russia had owned a part of him at one time, now his brother does. He can't even call it part of him anymore. Another part of him wants to leave for the part is fed up with having their rights taken away, till this day that part still wants leave.
His land is the second largest in the world, but still is never recognized. The only time people usually see him is when they need his resources, his soldiers. Being as kind as he is, he always gave into helping.

"What's up?" You asked awkwardly standing in the middle of the red and white room, Kumajiro was happily napping in Matthew's lap.

This was it, the night you've been waiting for all week. Today was Saturday, Saturday evening to be exact. That could only mean one thing, Hockey Night in Canada. TSN was showing Canada versus Denmark at the moment. You had the honour of actually being in Stockholm to watch the event. Your best friend Matthew was on the ice at the moment about to start skating head to head with Mathias Kohler, who happened to be the best in Denmark.
"Go Matthew!" you cheered loudly, although he wasn't even on the ice yet.
You sported the traditional Team Canada jersey, with a pair of red jeans. On your cheek you dawned at maple leaf painted like the Canadian flag. In your hands you held a tiny stuffed polar bear that as well dawned a Team Canada jersey. You had brought it along for good luck, and were planning on giving it to Matthew after the game.
"Hello out there, it's Hockey Night tonight." an English announcer spoke. The crowd cheered in response waiting for the game to start. "Now please stand fo

You walked along the bitter cold streets of Kingston, Ontario. The snow covered the sidewalks and streets, making it a tad slippery to step on. You shoved your bare hands in your pockets as you walked to Confederation Park. The street lights and bustling bars of downtown could always make you smile. The small city was always so lively and friendly.
The Christmas lights that hung around the buildings made it that much cheerier. Although most people were at home spending time with their loved ones on Christmas Eve. You still saw a few couples walking hand in hand down the sidewalks, smiling gleefully.
Your friend Matthew had invited you to the small Ontario city for Christmas break; which you eagerly agreed. You already knew that Matthew was the personification of Canada; so it was only natural that he'd want to visit the Limestone city. For it was the first capital of his nation, and he never wants to forget it.

"Come on (Name), the ice won't break, I promise." Matthew told you, beckoning you. He stood on the other side of the frozen lake. You were on the other, hesitating to cross. Though Matthew had glided across the lake with ease, you were still afraid. What if the ice cracked? What if you fell in? So many things could happen, and really, you wanted to live. Maybe you were exaggerating about the whole dying part, but this really made you scared.
Your thoughts were broken by the yelling from the Canadian across the lake. You looked up and gave a nervous smile, "Okay I'm coming. But if I fall, then I'm leaving." You told him, laughing a bit. "Don't worry, you won't." Matthew reassured you. Your legs shook as you took the first step onto the frozen surface, all your weight putting pressure on the ice. The ice had already weakened from Matthew going across, and the ice was not going to go easy on you.

You dropped the plate you were cleaning into the water filled sink and dashed towards the window. As you pulled the curtains apart, you felt your entire being crushed.
Snow flew everywhere, strong winds were practically knocking down nearby trees and everything seemed white, not to mention that the sun was setting and the roads were probably covered in slippery ice.

Matthew was never one to be jealous. Ever. But, when it involved you and another guy, that was a different story. Especially when said guy was his own brother.
To be honest, now that Matthew looked back at it, it seemed as though he was the one who was making such a big deal out of it. You and Alfred had hugged. So what? It was only a hug. You guys were just friends, after all... right?
But Matthew wanted your hugs to be only for him, no matter how selfish it sounded.
He wanted to be the only one who received your affection.

But what was he saying? You and Matthew were just friends, and Matthew could never scrape up enough courage to confess to you. He was just the quiet, practically invisible Canadian boy at school. You tensed up as the car behind you quickly drove away. Let me explain in better details; you tensed up as the cab that brought you to your first boarding school quickly drove away, making a screeching sound that alerted everyone in the building that you had finally arrived.
You looked around you, as the school before you rendered you speechless no matter how many times you had seen it as a background in the pictures your twin brother and your long-time best friend sent you. You took a deep breath as you also took your first step towards it, your eyes shifting in every single direction: one glance wasn't enough to capture the true essence of that place.
You gulped as you saw some people waiting up front for you, and you started to walk even faster when they started to wave at you. Well, it was easier to distinguish it from on of them, since he was so energetic.
