SAVING MONEY AS A COSPLAYER... IS IT POSSIBLE!?Every single cosplayer in the world has one painful problem that we can all relate to: we're always broke. Always.
Fabric, thread, machines, paints, wood, tools, thermoplastics, LEDs, mould castings, brushes, dyes, wigs, make-up, contacts, boots, prosthetics, convention tickets, travel expenses, luggage, skin care, gym... the list goes on and on. Every single cent we earn, we constantly throw it all back into making our beloved costumes and feeling good for a few hours while stressing for months prior-hand. Non-cosplayers may not get it, but we do. For us, it's not a sacrifice. The chance to hone our creative spirit and create something from nothing is a rewarding life experience. Some think that the cost of an outfit is more valuable compared to medication and psychological sessions.
But like it not, we've all gotta come to a conclusion that the hobby must come to an end for us one day, and to have some money saved up for your next step in life is a greater advantage than having nothi
Writing, Reading, Blogging... 6 months in.This is going to be a bit of a departure from my normal journals. I'm one of those people that tends to pop up now and then in between projects and "update" everyone on how I am and what I'm doing... once in awhile I'll even post an art feature... but I don't do a lot of "articles". Today, at least for an hour, that's going to change. Why? Because after spending the last 6 months of my life blogging and immersing myself in the writer community, I feel I've learned a few things that deserve to be shared here on DeviantART, where the writing community tends to feel like a string of small, secluded islands.Writing, Reading, Blogging... 6 months in.2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Don't get me wrong, DeviantART is GREAT for artists as far as community goes. There's an amazing amount of people here who do their best to help out their fellow artists and support the new ones. Unfortunately, the writing community here is a lot smaller, and a lot more... closed off. Most serious writers who post their work to DeviantART are met with a chirping cricket. People may rea
Nude Women, D&DNude Women: Some people take April Fools way too seriously. I had a topless woman's photo (I assume ripped out of playboy or something similar) taped to my front porch this morning. Lovely.Nude Women, D&D3 years ago in Personal More Like This
D&D: This was our second session - because people kept flaking out and cancelling. As it was, we had two members not show up, and another showed up late -_- anyways, it went something like this:
DM: So do you guys remember where you're supposed to be going?
Players: er... no. Not really.
Dm: -____- You guys are going to visit Malkior, he's a gnome invent-

Dm: well.. as a matter of fact, you know him quite well, he-
Kee: OMGOSH does he come to my tavern? Do I wench for him? (my character is a tavern wench in her off-time)
Dm: Yes, as he lives right next door to your tavern. As I was saying, he's an inventor and has a bit of a reputation in the area - he's very VERY old. As you approach his storefront/home you see an Iron dog-like creature guarding the door.

9 reasons to appreciate ACRYLICS1. UNIVERSALITY - Acrylic are probably the most versatile of paints. You can thin them with water and use as watercolor (they will remain permanent upon drying, unlike watercolor), apply them in full strength, create textures.9 reasons to appreciate ACRYLICS2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
2. COMBINABLE - This medium is very suitable to be combined with anything you wish - watercolor, ink, pencils, oils... Free your imagination and experiment!
3. NUMEROUS SUITABLE SURFACES - Acrylics can be used on paper, canvas, wood, metal and many more surfaces (this is true, even though they don't adhere towards some surfaces as promptly as oils). This is a great advantage, when you get used to this medium, you can paint at whatever material you've got available.
4. DON'T STINK - That's right, all of you that have experienced headaches caused by oil paint might just appreciate an acrylic vacation!
5. FAST DRYING TIME - Composition doesn't seem right after you put down your first layer? This is not a problem, wait half an hour

POKET PARTY (book) UPDATEI hope you had a wonderful Christmas and new year~ Here is an update for pre-order-ers !! Poket party is ready to be shipped.POKET PARTY (book) UPDATE4 years ago in Personal More Like This
I will be sending them in batches (around 45 to 50 at a time). I'll keep this page updated as to which orders I have sent and not so, etc.
My trips to the post office for those batches respectively will be on the 11th, 14th, 17th and 20th. It's safer to not post all at once and this will give me enough time to rest in between since I'll have to pack everything / fill in forms :3c
As soon as I pack your order for the batch, I'll contact you checking your address again! I will be keeping hold of your copy no matter what until I get your OK to post it. It's better to be safe than sorry and it has been a period of time
The average it takes to arrive from around the world is a week or two! Though this may take longer or shorter, post has a mind of it's own \o/ I really hope you do enjoy the book!
I'm happy if you are interested i

Cosplay, short for costume play, is a type of performance art in which participants don costumes and accessories to represent a specific character, or idea. Characters are often drawn from popular fiction in Japan, but recent trends have included American cartoons and science fiction.
Favorite sources include manga, anime, tokusatsu, comic books, graphic novels, video games, hentai and fantasy movies, as well as anthropomorphic manifestations.
Cosplayers often inte

Buffy The Jedi Cat XDI may never stop laughing *gasps for air in between giggles* I have NEVER seen anything as funny as what I just witnessed a moment ago. Bluebonnet made me a styrofoam light-saber (I have a real light saber.. one of those ones that actually lights up and costs like $250.. actually I have two of them.. that's beside the point) anyways, she made me one a couple months ago and a few minutes ago my cat Buffy (bless her majesty of fluff) came prancing into my computer room, lightsaber in mouth. She didn't even fit through the doorway. she stopped and looked at me and mewed with this huge ole lightsaber in her mouth, and I just burst into laughter. I wish I'd had a camera XDBuffy The Jedi Cat XD3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Just needed to share that moment of hilarity XD I have no idea how she even picked that thing up or where she found it.
Jin Attempts To Explain Cosplay Photography As requested by many of you, I've submitted this guide as a dA news article. Here is the link. I'm happy this proved to be useful for a lot of you guys! It's the least I can do to give a little something back for your appreciation of our work. Thank you!Jin Attempts To Explain Cosplay Photography7 years ago in Personal More Like This
First of all, let me warn you that by the end of this journal entry, you may find yourself sick of my face. (If you aren't already.) I'll be using mostly myself as an example for the things I'm going to discuss, because I'm the only person I can poke fun at without restrictions.
I get asked a lot of questions about these cosplay photos that most of you have come to know me for. Sometimes it's about the techniques we use, requests for tips and advice for other people who want to do something similar. Other times, the comments come from people who aren't familiar with cosplay, but are curious about it and are interested to know more. So I thought of making this li
A Complete Custom Guide to Nuzlocke ChallengesNUZLOCKE: Custom RulesA Complete Custom Guide to Nuzlocke Challenges4 years ago in General Fiction More Like This
1: Pokemon that faint have been killed in battle. Release them, or permanently box them in the Cemetery Box.
♦Particularly favored Pokemon may be migrated/transferred or traded to another Game File.
♦Pokemon that faint in the Battle Frontier and Battle Tents (seen in Emerald) are not dead, don't worry.
2: You may ONLY capture the FIRST Pokemon you encounter on each route, cave, etc.
♦Shiny Pokemon are exempt from this rule, but may not be used through regular Game Play.
3: All Pokemon captured must have a Nickname.
4: If you so desire, you may have ONE resurrection AFTER obtaining all 8 badges from your region. This is the only resurrection you will receive during the entire game, so choose wisely. HeartGold and SoulSilver do NOT get a second resurrection upon obtaining all 16 badges.
5: When you have lost all of your Pokemon on your team and in the boxes it's Game Over.
COSPLAY =/= CONSENT, HOWEVER.....I think all cosplayers have been brought to the attention of the latest fad sweeping every convention, forum, blog, vlog, and practically everywhere else... the whole "cosplay =/= consent" thing.COSPLAY =/= CONSENT, HOWEVER.....2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Do I support this ideal? Absolutely. Everyone who knows me knows I do, considering I own a pair of boobs and all that comes with being a woman.
However, this trend had caught the attention of feminazi's [feminist nazi's, aka. flailing vaginas] who are taking matters far and beyond and making rules of their own, even attacking individuals who say they've gone too far. Now this, I don't stand for.
But here's what I stand for...
I'm a cosplayer. I choose to cosplay.
I choose which cosplays I'd like to make.
Nobody forced it onto me. It's my decision.
My decision to cosplay a certain character inevitably affects how people look at me, whether they adore my character, barely look at me, or stare at all my flesh.
As said above, I chose to wear that costume. My choice.
Everyone is equal at convention

Welcome to ASKtheARTIST. My name is *thefluffyshrimp and today I have the great privilege to interview *SilentReaper, artist behind the ever popular StupidFox and other great comic series. Thank you for presenting us with this opportunity to interview you, SilentReaper.
Hey all you folks there in AtAChat! Go ahead and start posting questions now.
~random-artist101 asks, "What brought you to deviantART?"
Awesome for a first question, I was brought to deviantART by a group of artists that I knew in an Oekaki/PaintChat site called "BakaNeko." I used to draw a bunch of landscapes there and everyone on that site was so nice and helpful. So one day they just told me about deviantART and how I should post some of my stuff there. I think I still have one painting from BakaNeko up in my deviantART gallery.
~EveryoneDeservesLove asks, "How long have you been drawing?"
I've been drawing ever since I could pick up a pencil. My parents a
