SPIKE updatesJust thought I'd share with you guys some updates on the progress of finishing my "SPIKE" novel.SPIKE updates2 years ago in Personal More Like This
A lot of people have asked me how it's going, when it will be published and stuff. I really appreciate getting asked these things because it shows that people are actually interested in my writings, and that it just such a great feeling
I've got two news for you guys today though: one bad news and one good news. Let's start with the bad news.
I haven't finished writing SPIKE yet.
And I honestly don't know when it will be finished - which oddly enough brings us to the good news:
I've made a new, major decision in the SPIKE story that I think a lot of you will be happy to hear. As usual I don't want to spoil too much, but there is a part in the story where Spike and Sam are separated from each other for quite a long while. At first I was planning on only writing from Spike's point of view, like, what he's experiencing during this separation period. I figured that since he's the main cha
To all you aspiring artistsI just felt like giving a little motivational speech, based on some questions and feedback I've gotten from young, aspiring artists. To all you aspiring artists2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Some of you say you look at my art and get inspired, and I just love hearing that because that's just what I want; to be able to inspire! It also inspires be back, because I know very well how it's like to work your butt off and not feeling you're getting anywhere. And I can relate when some of you say you actually lose all motivation when you see my work (or others' work, of course), because you feel you could never reach that same "level". I was there too, I've felt just like you guys! I have also had the nagging feeling that my art might not be good enough, but those thoughts are all stupid. Yeah, they are. I'll be rude enough to say that right now.
Art can be very frustrating in your "growth period", if I can call it that. And while being your own worst critic can help you grow, it can also tear you down and destroy everything called 'motivation'. So
an introduction to my Anthro universe.. :PI got a question the other day, about what dog breed Sam and Saunders in their anthro form is supposed to be.an introduction to my Anthro universe.. :P2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I started answering the comment, but soon found out it would just end up being a looooong reply... And I thought, as I wrote, that maybe others would be interested in what breed they and their relatives are, as well as Spike's breed, some character origins, how the people (or anthro) in my little fictive universe views their fellow inhabitants, and a bit of history around this whole thing.
Therefore, I'm deciding on writing a journal entry about this.
The different breeds.
Saunders and Sam were originally, when I first created and designed them, supposed to be Golden Retrievers. Thus, they did in fact both have floppy, furry ears just like the Golden has. For some reason, I felt this made the characters look sad, so I changed - I think - Saunders' ears first to stand up just like a Terrier's ears. Sam's ears changed shortly after. I kept this change as I thought it ma
To all my watchers, fans and visitors...I wanted to write this little journal entry to just thank every single one of you for all the support and love I've been getting. To all my watchers, fans and visitors...9 months ago in Personal More Like This
Seriously, you guys all mean so much to me, and I'm not just saying that! I really mean it!
Ok, I've probably said this before; but if it hadn't been for you guys, the SPIKE novel and that whole project of mine might not have been continued at all. And, well, yes, I know I haven't uploaded anything in forever, but I never gave up on the novel, I kept on working on it, figuring out details, planning the future chapters, editing, and so on.. and that's all thanks to you guys and the feedback you've given me!
I am truly grateful for that. I really, really am...!
And I'm sorry for not replying to all of your lovely comments, notes and such... I do read it all though, and I appreciate it all, and I wish I had the time to actually reply to every single message I get from you, but it's not all that easy.... But as said, I read them all, and I love all the love you'
just......this is probably stupid to write a journal about but, I'm writing more SPIKE chapters now, and I'm literally in tears at the moment. Not like 'lol that's funny, I'm in tears!', but like 'fudge, who's cutting all these onions?! ;_; *sniff* "just...8 months ago in Personal More Like This
And when I cry over a scene, a scene that I wrote myself - I mean, I never get this emotional over things I write! I had to just stop writing it for a while, because I'm at mum's place right now, and I don't want her to find me crying when she wakes up
I wish I could share this with someone XD
aw well... I'm writing again, though, so that's a good thing
Things seem to sort of connect more in the SPIKE story now, and I'm generally starting to feel, for once, that this could actually turn out to be a good story.
I just have to write everything down...
I have a big notebook that's almost full of plot details and such, then there's all the notes I have in my head. I just need to find the time to write chapters out of it
did you know...Did you know Saunders has his own fan club?did you know...2 years ago in Personal More Like This
HaloGamesFan and FoxeeLaLa made one for him, which to me was a really cool surprise..! It's very flattering to see my character getting so much love, and even a fan club, so that's really cool
And Saunders himself would probably be very surprised too to know about it ;D I bet he'd be all "what, a FAN CLUB, for ME?? what, why me? I'm not special... am I? Well, it's very nice of them anyways, that's for sure.. *tries to hide that he's blushing* "
here's the link to the fan club, if anyone wants to join

concerning Chapter 12..This feels really weird to post, but...concerning Chapter 12..2 years ago in Personal More Like This
...I was reading through "SPIKE" just now, something which I haven't done in ages. I thought I'd read some chapters to see if I could find some more mistakes to edit again.
Do you guys remember chapter 12? The one where Charles (or Chuck as he was nicknamed then) is speaking/thinking about his feelings for Spike? I haven't read that chapter in... I dunno, a couple of times since I posted it here on DA? Anyways, for some reason, that chapter just gave me a big punch in the stomach right now.. At least it felt like it, sorta. I had to just pause, stop reading, because I was all, "whoa sh*t, he's... he's .. dangerous, and insane..!" you know? And while I knew this already, since he's my character and I know all about him, this chapter just sort of had a big impact on me. Sort of like, sympathizing with him but being utterly terrified of him at the same time..
I hope this doesn't sound like boasting about my own writing or that it sounds self-centere
SPIKE updates - nov2013Yesh, it's about time I gave you guys an update on the progress of my novel, "SPIKE".SPIKE updates - nov20131 year ago in Personal More Like This
I've gotten a lot of notes and comments asking when the book will be finished, how far I've come in the writing process, or how many chapters there are so far, and so forth... And I love getting questions like that, because that means people are interested in my work, many of which say they even love my work, and.. just wow, I mean, I'm completely honest when I say that it means a whole lot to me. And I'm serious when I say that without the support from you guys (you all know who you are <3 ), I would never have bothered continuing the SPIKE story. I would probably just have posted chapter 0, deleted it, and stuffed it all in a drawer and possibly even given up on the whole story-teller dream. Feedback is very important to me, which sounds very selfish, I know, but I used to be incredibly insecure of myself and everything I did. I had this dream of becoming a cartoonist to have my stories told, and

In other news,
I don't remember if I already told you, but when I finally finish "SPIKE", I'm thinking of self-publishing.
That way the book will be available for purchase much faster, and I'll be able to ship it to anywhere in the world!
Plus, it'll hopefully pay off for myself as well, economy-wise..
But which are you most interested in - when that time comes -
Pocket books or hardcover books?
The pocket will be cheaper, but the hard cover will look better and is probably more durable? Based on my own experiences with books that is.
I'm just curious of what you guys think of the "pocket vs hardcover" thing?
Also, I'm REALLY hoping I'll find the time to finish "SPIKE" this year. Still, I've got some pretty big real-life-commission projects going
SPIKE stickers?I've actually had this idea for a while, but never thought seriously about actually doing something with that idea..SPIKE stickers?8 months ago in Personal More Like This
I was thinking... Would anyone be interested in buying stickers of my characters?
4 or 5 inch tall stickers of each character, probably even with three or more versions of some of the characters (like kid Sam, young teen Sam, older teen Sam). The characters would be drawn in a chibi-like style.. not like the ones I previously drew that had really creepy, hollow eyes... But more like the Cain paperchild I made, or the Spike paperchild with the christmas hat.
Hang on, I'll find them...
This type of chibi-style and with white edges around them (because personally I think the white edge would make it look pretty neat). Perhaps a wider edge though, but something like this.
The stickers would be of high quality. I've already found a company that prints stickers in any size and shape, in high

I've taken some photos of him with my cellphone. I'll take some better photos of him with my camera later. But I uploaded those cellphone photos to my Photobucket account in a public folder, so hopefully you'll be able to see him here:
(I hope the link works.. )
He's made of soft 'minky' fabric, and faux 'luxury shag' fur for his hair - which is very easy to style; no need for hair gel
He's approximately 20 cm tall from toe to ear. He has small buttons for eyes, and he's just very soft and cuddly
Anthropomorphic animals =/= furriesI'd like to take a moment to discuss this topic.Anthropomorphic animals =/= furries9 months ago in Personal More Like This
There's a lot of controversy about what 'furry' means. It doesn't really have a set definition.
Anthropomorphic is a definition for anything with human features. Anything, like a toaster. So, all furries are anthro, but not all anthros are furries. Some artists dismiss this term, and some use it.
I don't think it's okay to call other people's anthro characters for furries unless they do so themselves. They might resent the term, therefore it would come as an insult to them - it does to me.
Well, the furry community has a bad reputation.
On sites such as FurAffinity, which is dedicated to anthropomorphic animals, has an ocean of pornographic content which range from clean to what-the-fuck-eww. People who draw and commission these kinds of things usually refer to themselves as furries. Their characters usually do not have properly developed personalities (some purely consisting of slut

watch it. It's amazing, seriously.

It's about werewolves, yes, but not cheesy, stupid Twilight "werewolves" or whatever... These are my new favorite type of werewolves, and I'll probably never think of werewolves as vicious bad-guys ever again.
This was a beautiful story of a mother and her two children. I loved the story, really did. I even sort of started wanting to have kids on my own as well I mean, Ami and Yuki were so sweet, and funny, and realistic - personality and behavior wise.
And their mother was a fantastic character. I really, really liked how she was portrayed.
I could go on about how much I just loved this movie.. But I'll shut up and just recommend it to you all instead.
Do yourself a favor, and watch this incredible movie
Christmas Greetings!Just dropping by to wish you all, every single one of you, a fantastic and merry Christmas!Christmas Greetings!2 years ago in Personal More Like This
My apologies for not having drawn any Christmas stuff (yet) this year... I've been far too busy with Christmas preparations..
I'm happy to say though, that I have finally got myself a laptop again! I've been using a desktop computer for the last.. I dunno, is it two years now? Three? Anyways, I've really missed having the oportunity to bring my computer around with me, and especially the oportunity to just sit somewhere comfy with the computer on my lap and just write..! Or draw, for that matter
I got this computer yesterday (early Christmas present for myself? lawl ) and it's really powerful for a laptop, methinks. So hopefully, and most likely, it will handle Photoshop like a dream. It's got Windows 8 though, which almost was a dealbreaker for me, but I figured, hey, I like trying out new, technological stuff, so why not give it a try? And I gotta say, I was really sceptic
Sam and Spike plushies?I've gotten a little hooked on this plushe-making thing after I made that French Bulldog plushie in my gallery. There was quite some flaws that I had to fix on that one, but I've learned from itSam and Spike plushies?2 years ago in Personal More Like This
And now I want to make more plushies!!
Or dolls. Whatever you prefer to call it
I have some plan sketches for a Spike and a Sam plushie doll thingy (I'll just call them dolls from here on. It's shorter to type xD ).
They will be in somewhat the same style as the French Bulldog doll, only with larger button eyes, and something called "minky" fabric, which is a very soft, short faux fur type of fabric. Spike's hair and tail will be in long faux fur.
The idea was mainly to make them for myself, but I figure that if anyone'd be interested I could make a couple more (limited edition I suppose ) and sell them?
No idea what the price will be yet though Or even if this is doable.
But I'm gonna make a Spike doll anyways, once I can afford the fabric. And making a doll like that doesn't

I made a little animation of Saunders for it
In case you're wondering what he's playing; it's Slipstream by Jethro Tull.
The animation isn't perfect, but it was really hard to animate him playing that particular song on guitar... I know the song, and can play it easily on guitar, but still, animating it proved to be a pain
I hope you guys like my new journal skin

The usual answer to this that I have is "I've been busy," which I somehow often am.
I've got a couple of non-internet-related illustration commissions, that I can't tell you more about yet (sort of classified information until it's all ready/finished/published)
So, while I do think they're really fun commissions to work with, they do take up most of my time, art wise.
And when I'm not drawing, I'm at my new job. I don't work at a pet store anymore I've actually worked at three pet stores since I moved here..! First and second one I absolutely loved! So it was really sad when I had to find new jobs... And no, I didn't get fired. the reasons I had to change jobs were mainly due to, well, different reasons, like the store closing and stuff.. The third pet store I decided to leave after a while, because that place just didn't feel right. And I think it's important
updates :BHello!updates :B3 years ago in Personal More Like This
I'd totally forgot to update you guys, and decided to do it now after getting a little reminder
Well, the mural thingy is done. At last.
Not too happy with the result as the board that I was painting on had the wrong base coat of paint. It was too smooth for the paint to stick, so I had to paint over the same area several times and it still didn't look good.
I do have photos. Might post some of them later..
And yes, I wasn't really painting on a wall; I was painting on a large board that's going to be hung up on a wall. And I was painting characters that were representing certain historical ages as this was to be an historical timeline.
I've also been commissioned to do the exact same thing on another elementary school, and there are rumors that a third elementary school wants one too..!
And on top of that, I've been commissioned by someone else to do a real mural, on an actual wall (brick wall or concrete wall of sorts). A huge wall, too! So I'm looking forward
Quiet.I'm drawing every day.Quiet.3 years ago in DeviantART Announcements More Like This
And taking photos every day.
And designing every day.
The drawing usually leads to the designing. Or vice versa.
The photos are just something I can't help. If I miss a shot, but see the photograph that could have been, I get kinda depressed about it. So I just take photos to avoid that feeling. I miss a lot of photos anyway. But I try to remind myself that those were photos just for me. And that's a nice feeling when you can see photos that someone else will never see. Really incredible things happen all around, all the time, so long as you're looking for it. Challenging yourself to see the art out there even if it hasn't been pointed out by anyone but you, for you.
The designing is all deviantART. Plus designing apartments for new friends in town, or helping friends with their apps or startups. Like http://www.trendabl.com or something. But usually it's for internal deviantART projects.
Stuff we've been working on forever that hasn't seen the light of day
sudden urge to writetonight, I went to bed at about 4 AM or 5 AM, I don't remember. I think it was 4 AM..? anyhow.. at 8 AM, I wake up, and soon I start getting ideas for my novel..sudden urge to write3 years ago in Personal More Like This
So, knowing I'll just forget about the ideas if I go back to sleep, I go to our office, grab my notepad and start writing. I thought I'd only be writing one page - turns out I wrote several pages.
And, that's not the best part: I was writing stuff for the mid-part of "SPIKE", which is the part I've been struggling with the most! I feel the knots are about to loosen up
I wanna thank my friend, :iconfaithstarlight: , for helping me out last night when we were chatting on MSN. You said this one thing, that I guess somehow got the snowball rolling in my mind as I was asleep. A snowball of this little idea that just got bigger and bigger! (I'll tell you more about this later, Faye ) So, thank you :3
After writing, little Marcie had woken up (to those who still don't know: Marcie is me and my boyfrie
stuff I'm doing right now... :Bjust thought I'd kept you updated on what's causing me to post less art nowadays. Not sure if anyone's been noticing that, though, but this month I've been focusing on a graphic novel I'm working on. It's a graphic novel that I can't tell you about or show you, because it's my entry to this huge comic-contest that's going on here in Norway now. I've got just a few days to finish the first five pages, and so far I've only finished the first page 80% and then some drawings that will be panels, etc.. I have sketches on all five pages, but I want them to look really good for this contest, so the whole process of "perfecting" the drawings is quite time consuming. But hopefully it will be worth it somewhat. I've also gotta write a synopsis/summary of the entire graphic novel. It doesn't have to be a long summary, which is what's gonna be a bit tough for me. I tend to get carried away when I write, and I'd love to write a long summary of my graphic novel, but shortening it to only five sentenstuff I'm doing right now... :B3 years ago in Personal More Like This
novel updatesI've been asked quite some times recently how my novel is going I appreciate it when people ask me that, but since it would take a lot of time to give long replies to all those comments, I'll post some updates in this journal entry instead. ^_^novel updates3 years ago in Personal More Like This
I've recently written two new chapters of "SPIKE". I'm writing the end part of the novel now, so those chapters are very close to the end of the novel.
There's the opening part, which are the chapters that I've posted here in my gallery, then there's the mid part that I have planned out and worked on, but not actually written any chapters on. And then there's the end part, which starts where the mid part ends and goes all the way to the final chapter. The end part, to me, is the most interesting part, so that's why I'm writing that first I will make the mid part very interesting too, of course, but I just enjoy writing the end part the most.
I don't know if this next thing I'll say is a spoiler or not, since some of you might know already,
