GODZILLA (2014) review - The Showa Must Go OnGODZILLA (2014) has hit theaters, and for months (years for most Godzilla fans), potential audiences have been anticipating a return to form for the Lizard King - a film that will revisit the themes of the 1954 original and deliver a brooding, apocalyptic story of destruction and doom.GODZILLA (2014) review - The Showa Must Go On1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Instead, what we got could best be described as a sequel to THE TERROR OF MECHAGODZILLA (1975).
Trust me, I wouldn't begin a review with a hyperbolic, attention-grabbing statement like that without explaining it. For the moment, let us turn back the clock and toss out a quick recap of the film's plot. Obviously, this review will contain a metric crapload of SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS, but you'll complain anyway, so let's get on with this.
After a mysterious event in 1954 regarding the Castle Bravo nuclear test and an unknown giant organism, the story jumps to 1999, where two scientists, Dr. Serizawa (Ken Watanabe) and Dr. Graham (Sally Hawkins) are investigating a massive underground tomb in the

First off, Oscar Nominee Ken Watanabe (THE LAST SAMURAI, MEMOIRS OF A GEISHA, BATMAN BEGINS, INCEPTION) is joining the principal cast of GODZILLA!
Unlike most modern blockbusters/revivals/reboots, the studio seems to be going for higher caliber actors rather than superstar recognizable faces. It reminds one of the casting mentality for JAWS (paraphrasing - "We have our star...it's the shark...so let's focus on just getting really GOOD actors, not really famous ones.")
What's even cooler is the first ever set photo! Check out that charred helicopter!
But that's not all! Gareth Edwards sends a special message out via Youtube! Seems to be that this set is a Japanese airport...intriguing!

50 Years of Guarding the Universe
An American Doujinshi by Matt Frank and Josh Bugosh
In the year 1965, from the depths of an arctic glacier, awoken by an accidental atomic explosion, came crawling the Friend of all Children, the Guardian of the Universe, the Terrible Terrapin of Tokyo, GAMERA. Sweeping the Japanese box office, and quickly becoming an pop culture icon in his own right, Gamera captured the hearts of kaiju fans the world over, both young and old. After 12 feature films, Gamera’s 50th anniversary is upon us in the year 2015…and any rumors of a celebratory film were quickly silenced. As the months march on, it seems less and less likely that the mighty reptile will recieve his due, even as the kaiju genre enjoys a resurgeance in popularity.
Ergo, kaiju artist Matt Frank, best known for his work on IDW Publishing’s various Godzilla comic series, has begun work on a standalone story, The Last Hope. Intended to be produced as a one-shot, self-p

So here's what we know:
- Action will take place in Japan, Hawaii, Las Vegas (that's the Mini Liberty, not the NYC original), San Francisco...and SOMEWHERE in the Pacific Northwest?
- Godzilla has been around since 1954...and the US military spent several decades just trying to KILL HIM.
- The MUTO creatures are in the trailer, as the flying one can be seen along with its long hook-like arm.
- There's SOME sort of egg-sack-thing on one of the nukes...could they be MUTO eggs?
- Cranston's character was involved in a nuclear accident in Japan 15 years prior to the film, and smells a conspiracy.
- Watanabe's character discovers some sort of massive fossil underground...
And there you have it
- Firstly, everybody needs to get in the mood by listening to this:

GODZILLAJust saw the new Godzilla movie.GODZILLA1 year ago in Personal More Like This
As a huge fan of the original Japanese Godzilla movies, I was not dissapointed, thoroughly enjoyed it and my only complaint was having to watch it in 3D...
Also, Godzilla is pretty fat but i don't mind that so much.
Never been a fan of watching movies in 3D anyway - it costs more, glasses sit on my eyelids, eyes hurt after a while and movie theatres tend to be warm so i sweat a bit where the glasses contact my eyelids and have to wipe occasionally, and I dont like the movies to tell my eyes what to focus on, I actually like looking for little details/cameos/easter eggs. Plus I so rarely go to the cinema that my last pair of 3D glasses gathered the thickest layer of dust it possibly could and I had to buy another pair.

A warning against same-sex 'parenting'http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wDLkqJ3777sA warning against same-sex 'parenting'2 years ago in Personal More Like This
When it comes to parenting, genders do matter. And I'll say why:
Children are not only one of the greatest gifts from God, they are also the heart of marriage. It is important for them to be trained in the right direction, the way of the Lord. The Bible says in Proverbs 22:6 "Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it." But in today's world, they are forced to watch this horror happening in their lifetime, just like what happened to that little boy who got sexually abused by the two homosexual 'dads'. (http://christiannews.net/2013/07/06/homosexual-sentenced-to-40-years-in-prison-after-offering-son-to-international-pedophile-ring/ )
At worse, they are being taught that this sodomy practice is okay, when clearly it's not. Its abnormal, and this false teaching will lead children to Hell. And each child deserves a mother and a father, and gay parenting de
The One True King of KingsIt’s amazing how a 60-year-old product of postwar nuclear paranoia can still be so important to people’s lives to this day. I have a lot to thank Godzilla for, so much to the point that, if I had a gun to my head, and had to declare a religion (ANY religion), I’d point at the Big Guy and say “That one.”The One True King of Kings1 year ago in Personal More Like This
That’s right. My god can beat up your god.
Anywho, it’s also amazing to see where Godzilla is now compared to…man, even 10 years ago. And ESPECIALLY 16 years ago. We’ve essentially seen this character tried to be taken down and twisted into something he’s not, and then rise from the beaten, bruised ashes only when a meek British director reminded everyone that we just need to step back and let him be Godzilla.
A favorite quote of mine, from the series, is the line from Godzilla and Mothra: Battle for the Earth (1992).
"This is beyond our present knowledge or understanding."

Leonard Nimoy has passed away at the age of 83. He was most famous for his role as Mr. Spock on Star Trek. I’m not a Trekkie, so I cannot properly remember him as Mr. Spock. However, I can remember him for the many other minor acting roles he had.
He may have played the voice of reason on Star Trek, but his voice also leant him to being the voice of evil, from the sinister Mr. Moundshroud from The Halloween Tree, to the schemingly-clever Master Xehanort from Kingdom Hearts. He also had many other minor roles in recent films such as Transformers and the new Star Trek films.
Here are a few of the more memorable roles that I remember him by:

Secondly, this was a hell of a birthday surprise.
Yesterday, it was formally announced that Toho Studios would be reviving their OWN Godzilla film, set to be released in 2016, with production starting in 2015. Speculation abounds on the project, but the biggest question seems to be the focus on CGI or traditional Suitmation. The article cites the recent adaptation of the manga Parasyte as an example of the "high quality filmmaking" that Japan is currently capable of, but given the franchise's tradition of practical effects, and perhaps an unwillingness to appear inadequate when compared to the hundreds of millions spent of American SFX, we may be seeing something akin to Shinji Higuchi's Attack on Titan adaptation - a combination of sparse miniatures, green screening, props, CGI, and suits. One can only hope.

As midterm elections draw near, the Democrats are saber-rattling their bases with cries to raise the minimum wage, and the liberal media is more than willing to propagate their message with such news stories as this HuffPo piece on how "America Is Globally Shamed For Its Pathetic Minimum Wage":The International Monetary Fund on Monday cut its forecast for U.S. economic growth this year, warned of sluggish growth for years to come, and made a bunch of suggestions for getting America's economic house in order -- including raising the abysmally low federal minimum wage of $7.25 an hour.
"[G]iven its current low level (compared both to U.S. history and international standards), the minimum wage should be increased," the global financial-stability group wrote in its annual asse

when 20 beautiful children stormed through heaven's gate.
Their smiles were contagious, their laughter filled the air.
They could hardly believe all the beauty they saw there.
They were filled with such joy, they didn't know what to say.......
They remembered nothing of what had happened earlier that day.
"Where are we?" asked a little girl, as quiet as a mouse.
"This is heaven." declared a small boy.

Reasons why I invoke Godwin's law for abortionMany abortion clinics care about nothing but money. It's so ironic how liberals cherry pick what forms of corporatism and big business to be tolerant of. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mXZCOaRVrbg&noredirect=1Many on the pro choice side are willing to indoctrinate children into the same behaviors that will result in more abortion and STD infections, all the while giving teens the illusion that contraceptives and birth control will do anything other than risk reduction, as opposed to 100% prevention. They site sources that supposedly show that this decreases the undesirable effects of whoredom (correlation proves causation to these people), while they ignore plenty more sources that show the opposite. They believe that teens can't be educated to be abstinent, giving teens reasons to be sexually frustrated will help them make better decisions, and teaching people to not rape will be infinitely more successful than teaching people that stealing and murder iReasons why I invoke Godwin's law for abortion2 years ago in Personal More Like This

Currently I’m reading The American Credo, in which he examines the character of the American people. This book was written in 1920—almost one hundred years ago—and yet it’s eerie, almost scary, how relevant his observations remain today:Ask the average American what is the salient passion in his emotional armamentarium—what is the idea that lies at the bottom of all his other ideas—and it is very probable that, nine times out of ten, he will nominate his hot and unquenchable rage for liberty. He regards himself, indeed, as the chief exponent of liberty in the w

What would Jesus do?This question seems used as a tactic against Christians, strangely enough, by people who only know of Christ as loving and accepting and nothing else. Never mind that He was, and still is, righteous. While this is a good tactic against the hateful, it is ridiculous when used against the non-hateful Christians. What would Jesus do?1 year ago in Personal More Like This
What would Jesus do? He would lovingly rebuke. He would say "Go and sin no more." He would hang out with the lowest of the low, but because they need His help the most. He welcomes everyone who wants healing. Everyone, including and especially LGBT+.
Why do some people think Jesus would say: "Don't worry about it, keep doing what you're doing"? There is hardly any righteousness in such a reasoning. No, instead, Jesus would say "Don't worry about how bad you've been. I got it covered and I'll help you change." That sounds more like the Jesus we should know. He's not just the Cleaner, but a Doctor who continuously checks up on us.

Misconception: Saying a Prayer makes you a Christian and you are golden now.
The Truth is that many people pray to Jesus but there actions show otherwise. It is not enough that you say you worship Jesus and are a Christian. If you do not repent from your sins and fight with all your might to stop sinning you are not "Golden". You say that everyone sins and yes that is true. That does not mean you are free to continue without worrying. If all you do is sin and ask for forgiveness it has no effort. If you do the same sins over and over again here is a few tips. Set up reminders in your life. If you do the same sin right something on your hand that reminds you to stop. Make it so you see remind
