Griffon the brush off - Alternate endingThe entire mood of the party had changed almost immediately. A few moments ago, the ponies attending this get-together were all happy and enjoying themselves. Now, the whole things seemed to have turned into a disaster. And all because of an outburst caused by the guest of honour for the party.
Gilda the griffon, and old friend of Rainbow Dash, had been invited here to attend this party in her honour, thrown by Pinkie Pie. Although Pinkie was famous around Ponyville for parties of all sorts, the fact that she was willing to throw one for Gilda had come as a surprise for many, considering that they hadn't seemed to be on friendly terms during the latter's short time here. But as bad as things were between them, they seemed even worse now. For Gilda had been the victim of a number of practical jokes that had occurred throughout the evening. And even though the other ponies attending had laughed at the spectacle, Gilda did not.
The latest prank, which involved the griffon sliding into the
Wonderbolt Academy - Alternate endingAs she approached the blue door, she hesitated. Ever since Rainbow's denouncing of Lightning Dust, which occurred in front of not only her friends, but her entire squad of recruits, this was something she knew she had to do. But that didn't mean she had to like it. She'd been practically trembling on the approach to Spitfire's office. What she planned to do here, and what consequences that might emerge from it, were things she did not care to think about. But she also knew that if she didn't do this, if she simply kept quiet and went along with what had been going on, she'd never forgive herself for it.Wonderbolt Academy - Alternate ending2 years ago in Short Stories More Like This
She lifted her hoof and pushed the door open. Once open, Rainbow saw within the office. Spitfire was there, continuing to do what she'd been doing the last time Rainbow had visited her, signing autographs. It was understandable of course. Being as famous a flier as she was, Spitfire probably had to spend half her day doing this. Though it was clear from the look on her face that she did
Twilight's regretShe had worked hard this week. As much as she'd grown used to it, she still felt tired at the end of every day. Twilight Sparkle, Princess of Equestria. It had been many years since she had ascended to the role of Princess, becoming an alicorn in the process, and still the change had never stopped shocking her. The level of magic she had been able to achieve since her transformation was astounding. And not only that, but ponies from far and wide came to view her as a teacher. It brought a smile on her face to see young colts and fillies come to ask her questions and learn from her. It reminded her very much of how she was when she was their age, learning from her own mentor.Twilight's regret2 years ago in Short Stories More Like This
But it was not merely new experiences that this title had afforded her. In her years since her coronation, she had also experienced many physical changes that came with being an alicorn. The most obvious of which was, of course, her size. She had grown quite tall, towering over almost any other pony in Equestria, m

The recent attack brought about by the unexpected and hitherto unknown changelings and their Queen, Chrysalis, had left much of the city damaged. By some miracle there had been no casualties, only a few injuries here and there. Of course it made sense. The changelings were, after all, using the ponies as a food source. It made no sense that they'd want them harmed.
Ponies all about the capital were grateful that the attack had left only structural damage. Damage which was easily rectified. But for one lone unicorns, the damage was far deeper.
Walking along the red carpet of the main hall of the Canterlot royal palace, Captain Shining Armour was looking uncharacteristically fo
Friendship is magic - Alternate endingShe almost couldn't believe her eyes. After what seemed like a night that would never end, the sun was finally rising. Twilight stood in the middle of the ruined castle, surrounded by the friends she'd made. Rainbow Dash, Applejack, Fluttershy, Rarity and Pinkie Pie. All of them had, much to her surprise, become incredibly important to her, and together, they'd achieved a great victory. Not only had they discovered the long-lost elements of harmony, but in doing so, they had also vanquished the mare who had threatened the land with eternal night. Nightmare Moon.Friendship is magic - Alternate ending2 years ago in Short Stories More Like This
But now that they had won, the sun's first rays were creeping over the horizon, and with them came a familiar voice. To her friends, it was strange, but to Twilight, it brought a smile to her face. She knew that voice well, and the pony it belonged to. As the sun rose, another light approached the window of the ruin. There was a blinding flash as the six mares covered there eyes. But when the light dimmed, they looked on in joy
Too many Pinkie Pies - Alternate endingIt was cold in this place, she thought to herself. Of course, it was a cave after all, so coldness was expected. Looking around she could tell that this place had been hardly touched in all the years that it had stood. At least until the events of the last few days.Too many Pinkie Pies - Alternate ending2 years ago in Short Stories More Like This
Twilight Sparkle sat at the edge of what was known as the mirror pond. An ancient and, until recently, fairy tale place that dwelt within the Everfree Forest. She herself had heard of the tales, though only in passing as a child. It was not something she'd ever given much thought to. But, her friend, Pinkie Pie, had come here herself and, through the magic of the pond, made many copies of herself. She had done it in an effort to make sure that she was able to spend time with all of her friends.
The purple unicorn could not help but chuckle to herself. As always, she was just being Pinkie Pie. Only the energetic earth pony could come into a magical place like this and casually cast a spell on herself for the simple purpose o
Keep calm and flutter on - Alternate endingOnce the six of them arrived at Sweet Apple Acres, it turned out that things were a lot worse than they'd originally thought it would be. There had been bad floods before, but this was on a whole other level. The water was so high now that Applejack's family had to get around by way of makeshift boats they'd made out of large wooden buckets. They were all doing what they could, but it was clear that this situation wasn't going to get better anytime soon. A sentiment that Applejack herself now voiced.Keep calm and flutter on - Alternate ending2 years ago in Short Stories More Like This
"I've never seen the floodin this bad. They've built dams around here before, but never like this. What's goin on?" She asked.
The five ponies, Twilight, Applejack, Pinkie Pie, Rarity and Rainbow Dash, all stood on a nearby hill, looking down at the devastation the floods were causing. Further down the land, where the beavers had built their unusually extensive dams, Fluttershy, still bearing her elements, was hovering above the nearest dam and was trying to speak to one of the beavers. A mother's regretIt was as silent as the grave right now. Twilight sat there, at the other end of the table from Celestia, staring at her beloved mentor with her mouth hanging open. It felt like an eternity since Celestia had spoken, but no amount of passed time could make what she'd said any easier to swallow. It wasn't true, Twilight told herself. This was some sort of joke. There was no way that what Celestia had said could possibly be real. Maybe this was a dream, or even a nightmare.A mother's regret2 years ago in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
But deep down, she knew that it wasn't. No matter how much she might wish it to be untrue, she had to face reality, however terrible that reality might have become for her. Not wanting to spend the rest of the day with her mouth hanging open, Twilight finally broke the silence.
The words had been hard to get out, almost as though her mouth refused to register them. Celestia meanwhile, merely sat on the other side of the table and quietly nodded. She said nothing, merely waited for Twi
Mi'Amore's LessonThe doors were tall. Taller than any doors she had ever seen before. They were inscribed on either side with gold-trimmed markings. On the left a mark of a pegasi. And on the right, a unicorn. But even the sheer size of that door was nothing compared to the building it was attached to. The royal palace of Canterlot. It had been merely a day since the letter had arrived from the palace. Her family had read it several times over, with looks of both pride and concern on their faces. They'd explained to her what it meant, th
Magical mystery cure - A slow recoveryIt was a beautiful day in the northern reaches of Equestria. The rolling hills and grassy plains were, under the bright yellow sun, truly a sight to behold. Going straight through the middle of this lovely countryside was a single long train track, and upon it, a brightly coloured train. It was moving along at a good pace and heading towards a place that, until a year ago, was nothing more than a frozen wasteland. Within the train were a multitude of ponies, earth, pegasi and unicorn alike, from many different villages and towns to the south, all travelling together towards the northern Crystal Empire.Magical mystery cure - A slow recovery2 years ago in Short Stories More Like This
But among them was a particularly special group of ponies, and one young dragon. In a car towards the back of the train, a close collection of friends were all sitting in their seats, admiring the view. Princess Cadence was lying on a wheeled table, being moved quickly down the hallway of the hospital, her belly swollen over the last few months. Today was the day. Alongside the doctors was her husband, Shining Armour, who had her hoof in his as they kept moving.
"It's okay honey! Everything's going to be fine!" He said reassuringly.
Cadence smiled back at him. She opened her mouth to reply to him but suddenly winced and she placed her free hoof over her midriff. This clearly caused the doctors some worry.
"Her contractions are getting more frequent! Call in more nurses!" One of them ordered.
A nearby nurse nodded and ran off to carry out the order. Meanwhile, the rest of them had finally arrived at their destination, the delivery room. They opened the doors and moved the table and princess inside. As they moved in. One of the doctors stepped aside and stood between Shining and

Bismarck walked towards Zecora’s room with two drinks in hoof. While Zecora and Andromeda prepared a way for Andromeda to go into town without being noticed, he made his way to Berry, who was sitting by the room where Radiance lay, in case she needed something. It was his turn to take care of their friend while the others were busy, so Cherry slept on some floor cushions until it was hers. Bismarck handed Berry the soda and sat by his friend.
“Ah brought you a drink and something fer yer nose,” Bismarck said sheepishly. “Ah’m really sorry about all that. Ah don’t know what got into Tempest, but whatever it was, he was beginnin’ to scare me.”
“Yeah,” Berry replied as placed the ice pack onto his nose’s broken ridge, “me too. I know you didn’t mean it, Biz. We’re cool.”

Chapter 5: A Day at the Spa
Lowering herself slowly into the steaming hot tub, Fluttershy let out a long, content sigh while she sank into complete relaxation. Once she had adjusted to the rapid temperature change, she could feel every muscle in her body loosen while she closed her eyes and laid her head back. She needed a day where she could just unwind without having to worry about picking up the kids from school or anything else, and the spa was just what the doctor ordered.
“This feels more amazing every time I come here,” she told Rarity, who sat across from her. “I didn’t even realize I was this tense.”
“You never can,” Rarity replied. “It’s just the stresses of life, I suppose. Sometimes you get so busy in the chaos of the day that you forget how much pressure you’re building up inside. That’s what the spa is for!”
Fluttershy could easily agree on that. Even though it was hard to believe that they had

CHAPTER 7: Birthday Cake and Best Friends (First draft. Final version in the works)
Five more minutes until Orion's birthday party. Under normal circumstances, ponies would be expecting their guests to be fashionably late, but those ponies obviously never met the Pie family. Looking at the clock, Andromeda knew that the moment the large hand hit the "12," Berry and Cherry would be at the door.
They couldn't help themselves. Partying was in their blood as well as their upbringing. Andromeda figured any filly raised by Pinkie Pie would be that way. Waiting at the door, Orion and Andromeda smiled and readied to scare their friends in an unexpected welcoming. The twins were renowned for their sneakiness and pranks, so it was time they pulled one on them. Time slowed down as the final seconds inched their way up the clock's face. When the last second hit, the two unicorns threw open the door.
"Gotcha!" they yelled in unison before settling down at the empty sight in front of them.

But sitting on a grassy hill in the middle of the park, was one pony who did not have a smile upon his face. A white stallion with a blue mane, wearing a rather ornate red uniform of a captain, who sat there on the top of the hill, and was experiencing worry like never before.
Over the course of his time as a member of the royal guard, he had been against many things that might cause other ponies to quake with fear. He had faced down raiding parties of dogs without hesitation. He's fended off hydras and manticores. He

Chapter 6: Swords and Spells
Andromeda sat in her room alone, reviewing the final draft of her work for the tenth time. For several months, every word, formula, and footnote had been analyzed to the most minor detail, but she continued to hover over it. She knew that this kind of obsession was unhealthy, but there was something inside her that compelled her to keep going, like a whisper in the deepest part of her mind.
In the old scrolls that she had found seemingly forever ago, the work of Twilight Sparkle laid before her, daring her to do better and live up to the expectations the world had for the daughter of an Equestrian legend. No matter how hard Andromeda worked to become a respected scientist, it was never enough. In the Academy, many resented her for her relationship with heroes and royalty, and most of her colleagues said that she had only been inducted because of her connections rather than her intelligence and skill. Even her own professors seemed unfair in their

Her horn began to glow it's usual yellow as the glowing orb moved further down. A few minutes passed and soon enough, there was darkness across the land. Celestia opened her eyes and looked up at the sky. Darkness but no moon. No stars. She hated seeing the sky like this. Her sister always made it so beautiful. But before she could work the night sky, it always looked so lifeless to her, so dead. A sentiment Luna herself shared.

CHAPTER 3: Country as Apple Pie
Beads of sweat poured down Bismarck's orange coat and chestnut mane as he made his way through the spanning acres of the Apple family orchards and gazed at what he considered the most beautiful place in all of Equestria. Having been working since the crack of dawn, he watched in admiration as the emerald and ruby hues of the apple trees began to glow a bright orange with the rising sun until the slowly approaching afternoon brightened the world around him.
Though the morning air was still somewhat crisp, the heat was greater than usual. Pulling the tip of his hat down to cover his eyes, the rugged stallion faced away from the apple tree, reared back, and kicked it with a tremendous force. A loud boom sounded from the shaking trunk and seemingly echoed through the orchard while vibrations from the impact shook the tree like a maraca until every single crimson apple fell towards the ground and into a large wooden barrel at the base.

CHAPTER 11: Shelter (First draft. Final version in the works)
The sun continued to rise slowly in the morning chill and the frigid draft of the wind blew through the apple trees of the Apple family. The rumble of thunder echoed in the distance while it whistled around Radiance, making her want to curl into a tight ball. She couldn't hear anything, open her eyes, or move more than a little, but she could feel the bitterness of the breeze down to her bones. Her body shivered and her mind could not think of anything but the cold, as if ice had frozen her in place. Slowly, her senses began to return, and only when the crackle of a small fire could be heard and felt did she relax. Her heavy eyes opened narrowly, watching the blurred movements of the amber sparks in front of her. Their dim glowing air patterns danced before her before rising up into the air and disappearing in the small plume of grey smoke. Orion had run into the basement very quickly, confusing his guests. Bucky and Peach Cobbler both knew that when it came to Orion, trouble usually followed things like this. Whatever was going on in his head was most likely worth seeing, so the two Crusaders chased their friend into the former-lab. Where the basement once was the headquarters for Twilight Sparkle's scientific discoveries, it was not used as much as it once was and had now become more of an archive of data and experiments rather than an active station. Its purpose, however, did not alter the feeling of wonder and amazement the two ponies always experienced when rummaging through them. Shelf after shelf was filled to the brim with books of many colors and sizes and countless documents laid organized in drawers and bins before them. Regardless of the room's organization, there was not as much space left, but Twilight always refused to get rid of any

Canterlot. The capital city of Equestria. A place held in awe and envy by those who did not live there. The home of Princess Celestia, the beloved monarch of all ponies, pegasi, unicorn and earth alike. And for many, this city was most famous as the centre of all magical learning in the land. Being a primarily unicorn settlement, that was to be expected, but the talents of many unicorns had been greatly improved by the founding of magic magical schools, one of which, the royal academy of magic, was headed by Celestia herself.
And today was a very important day for the students of that academy. For today was the mid-term exam. All of the school's top students would present the spells and abilities they'd been working on, or created themselves, and display it to a collection of j

Bucky's eyesight remained blurry as he looked around, desperately hoping to find something or somepony who could help him. He was in a room of some sort, but felt too nauseous to tell whose it was. His chest heaved with difficulty with each gasp of air becoming more shallow than the last while something clung tightly on his throat. His hoof grasped his neck to feel his Cutie Mark Crusader's cape. He had forgotten that he had put it on, but now it was choking him. Grasping at the knot, he tore it off, flooding oxygen into his lungs. He coughed loudly and painfully, gasping for a while before he sunk his head back to the cold floor. Taking the moment to catch his breath, his green eyes darted around, searching his surroundings. He was inside a small warm bedroom, not the cool basement where he once was. Stuffed animals surrounded him from all sides, their glass eyes watching his every move and motion an
