The Monkey In MeDeep inside the cracks of my mind lives a monkey. The Monkey In Me3 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
He has a maraca he likes to shake
And a blanket made of dust.
On bright days I wonder what he does there,
I even consider asking him;
His answer is but a monkeyish laugh
He shakes his maraca at me, mocking my thoughts,
Grins at me, with a smile that misses five teeth.
Then he jumps in joy, cries out, leaps away
He climbs my logic and chips a few pieces
And with them he decorates his house
which he built in my inspiration.
When night falls he tends to rummage
Through the drawers of my mind,
Poking this and poking that.
He never sits still, always playing his game.
Sometimes though he disappears
Into darker corners unheard of.
But upon his return he has found
So much and all of it he will, undoubtedly,
Fill up the shelves of his house with.
When did he come to be, I wonder.
What is he doing in my mind, pray tell!
For how much longer will this baboon taunt me?
I have a monkey inside me you see,
Maybe he's the reason I never sit still,

Of the deserts, to the deepest trenches,
In the oceans of my heart.
Nothing even dares to hide
From this magnificent light so deep inside;
It's drowned the very thirst it quenches
From the very start.
These cartographers dream of the discoveries you've made,
Their expeditions and journies but a silly masquerade
In comparison to the glory of roads that you've paved
Into the farthest reaches of my heart.
You sing to the muses that hold legends
Of the demons and gods my heart defends,
And weave glory into their every story
Of your majesty in me.
No citizen or king can dare deny
Flowers and trees have blossomed high;
My nature's reached its full glory
Through your purity in me.
So bring me that horizon's line;
We'll sail these ships over lands divine,
Every corner of the seven seas ,
Of the world within my heart.

NaruSaku OneshotNaruto stood in Team 7s old training ground, waiting curiously for Sakura. He and Takuya had decided to take a break from their training, a week since Kisame Hoshigaki had attacked Konoha. It was also a week since Takuya had become a genin, though it was undeniable that the lean Uchiha was as strong, if not stronger, as Naruto or Kakashi.NaruSaku Oneshot7 years ago in Fan Fiction More Like This
Hi, Naruto! Naruto snapped out of his thoughts and turned around to see Sakura running up to him, wearing her usual outfit, minus her black gloves.
Sakura-chan! What did you want to talk to me about?
Oh, its, uh, nothing. Sakura looked at Naruto with a smile; he was wearing his normal orange pants along with a black tank top with his spiral on the back, though he wasnt wearing his headband. Her face faded slightly as she noticed the many bruises and cuts. Hows training with Takuya-san going?
Naruto grinned, raising his fist, putting his other hand on his arm. Not bad! You re

Let down your golden hair,
whose strands and locks
can trap the sun.
From your tower, so high up
you look upon the ground
and so the hair descends
to cover what it can.
What is happening to you?
Your hair is thinning ...
The luster is gone,
The gold is fading...
It's turning crimson red...
You are that thorny rose
Whose bloody petals fall to the ground
There's nothing but the pale white center exposed to the world
Is it really a lie that you are beautiful?
Rapunzel, Rapunzel, where has your true beauty gone?
You were never nothing, without your hair.

The girl in the white dress is splayed against the salt-dark sand like a scrap of cloth. The sea, receding, whispers quiet self-assurances.
The boy who travels shadows hates this part of his patrol. He belongs beneath the trees and in the dense, wet heat--not here. Here, he is prey to endlessness.
The shadow boy skirts the fringes of the sand, taking what comfort he can from the stunted groundcover, blue and faintly glowing in the moonlight. The muscles in his shoulders twitch, and he grits his teeth against the overwhelming fear of exposure.
At least astronomy is in his favor--full moons make for good shadows. Quick escapes.
The heady rush and hiss of the ocean is making him nearly come undone when he sees her, the dress shining like a strand of whitecap detached and thrown back. He tenses.
He gulps a deep breath and steadies himself before throwing himself in the openness of beach. With no shadows to hold onto, h

It's all hot sun and achingly blue sky, and you're sitting leonine on the hood of your battered pickup. I wish I could draw just to capture you like this--squinting into the horizon, one knee drawn up to rest your elbow on, hair windswept. I'd keep the white t-shirt and jeans, but I'd add wings: big, dusky gray things, relaxed and resting open on the windshield, pale underbellies to the sun. It'd fit, somehow, with you.
"Remember that big storm they had up north last week?"
"Yeah." I wouldn't have forgotten, not after the charts and scans you showed me. I only saw a mess of swirling colors like an end-of-the-day paint palette, but you saw sense in the chaos.
You ease off the truck and walk toward my white picket fence perch. "The wildflowers bloomed like all hell out by the lake." Resting your arms along the top beam, you gaze off into the distance for a minute longer before turning mischievous eyes my way. "Want to go see?"

Chapter I: A meeting.
Slowly, I pad across the forest floor to a cliff overlooking the vast and ever-raging sea of Hoolemere. A cliff I knew so well and the fact that I stand here once more after so many years serves to strengthen my own feelings of righteousness as my memories sweep me back to many long years ago… back to when I was innocent, gullible and naive.
And yet, despite the pain I feel every time I am assailed by these memories, I don’t push them away for they always serve to kindle my need for the vengeance I’m still owed… and have yet to gain.
Across this sea, the owl I seek exists, unaware of the ghost that had arisen from his younger years to haunt his old age. Every time I think of him, I curse the moment I settled my eyes upon him when I was but a little pup of a few moons old. As I turn my head from the sea to the cluster of tree

Four. Stupid islanders singing stupid carols about the stupid goddesses' birth and stupid wishes coming true and stupid love blossoming and stupid miracles that could never happen.
And five. It's just stupid.
I let out a deep breath as my crew laughed their guts out from the tables behind me, comparing tales of adventure of the high seas with the other men of Windfall. I knew half the things they were saying were lies, but who cared; they were drunk and wouldn't remember anything tomorrow morning anyway.

For what is life without the ones you love.
One raindrop raises the sea,
So think what two could do.
Weapons are enemies even to their owners,
So keep them away from you.
Give more, take less,
And one day you will be able to take more.
Others first, self last,
Because you never know when others aren't going to be there.
Observe, listen and learn,
For you don't know when you might need information.
Do one thing at a time,
So you can concentrate.
Sing every day,
And a calmer you will emerge.
Exercise your imagination,
And you will have not trouble.
Eat to live, don't live to eat,
Because excess is a waste.
Find the light,
For it shall be your savior.

Commander Erin Shepard admired the little space hamster nibbling away at some food in its cage, unknowing of it's odd fan. And odd was the right word - Erin knew that she appeared as a scary sight. With her bright silver eyes, recently dyed red hair, pale skin and towering 5' 10" frame - not to mention her scar which was carved from her eyelid to underneath her eye. Oh yeah, she was an strange sight indeed. Stranger still in a souvenir store. But she ignored the stares, she was on a mission.
A mission for a pet. And it looked as if this was the one.
Taking a sip of her vanilla flavoured milkshake, Shepard sauntered over to the store desk, smiling at the nervous Asari. The Asari seemed to calm down, and shook Shepard a little wave.

"That's a nice space hamster you got." Nice one, Erin, real smooth. D

Chapter IV: Legends and truth.
Harfang was smaller, yes, much smaller and yet faster. The battle that took place before me wasn’t quite unequal: Harfang didn’t have the strength nor the experience of the Great Grey owl but the Great Grey had only the use of his sharp beak and the intimidation of his ferocious glares; his talons holding tight to the owlet and all I could do was pray for both owlets’ safety. I watched him dodge there and feint the other way, blocking a hit once and delivering a small scratch another time. To my astonishment, I recognized a hunting pattern I taught him once but what made it astounding was that he used it mid-air by stilling his wings and falling down; not unlike a crouching wolf ready to bounce on its prey before bouncing fast and swift for the kill. It seemed to flow through his wings with apparent ease even when it was me
Waiting for YouI don’t mind waiting for you. When you’re lonely, any meaningful conversation is worthwhile. Even the kind you have to wait an hour or two for. Maybe especially that kind. The kind you stay up late for, reading to pass the time, or constantly glancing at the clock, hoping. The kind you walk around the block a few times for, even in the cold. The kind you would have over tea if you could but you can’t because you’re both going home and you’re tired of the day but not of each other and, you know, one cup wouldn’t hurt.Waiting for You3 years ago in Flash Fiction & Vignettes More Like This

I loved a blacksmith once, back when the sand still clogged up my soul. It was only far after that I began to love the desert too.
Underneath the casual noise--glass on wood, heat-smothered conversation, worn cards slapped down in careful triumph--there was this low, thrumming quiet that wouldn't be broken. He spoke in sepia undertones. "We're getting out."
Hot iron smells like hot blood, like blood that's been poured out under the white Arizona sun. It's something you don't forget easy, like the taste of whiskey or the plasma patterns left on your eyelids after watching fire all night. It sticks.
My childhood was fed on medical books, and I've got this pain right behind my eyes and I wonder if this is what it feels like being lobotomized. Of course the brain has no nerve endings, but the hurt has to manifest itself somewhere.

Outside, Hackett radioed all the ships. "Alright, everyone, time to evac. Meet up at the rendezvous point."
Joker sat, staring at his controls, completely dumbfounded. He couldn't leave...not yet. Not without EDI. Not without Shepard.
"Joker," Liara prompted him. "Come on, Joker, we need to go."
He shook his head. "No."
"You have orders."
As all the other ships entered the relay he shrugged. "Oops, my comm is down. What orders?" he asked, turning his radio off.
Liara gave him a half smile. "You're right, then. What orders?"
All of a sudden the Citadel lit up a bright red and an energy burst exploded from it- but not before a quick beam left the tower to Earth.
