Lightly amused by the DA porn sinners....So I regularly browse the artistic nude category. I do this not to police or discriminate, but because I enjoy looking at artistic nudes and collecting them in my favourites. However I also tend to report those users who take the piss by disregarding the rules and terms of service of the website.Lightly amused by the DA porn sinners....2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I regularly leave a polite notice on those deviations that feature erect penises, spread vaginas, spread arses etc. The comment is usually something like :
"Please review the following regarding explicit and pornographic images :faq565:"
I think most people would agree that this is not aggressive, not patronising, not insulting and not demeaning.
However, I do get the odd user who will message me back with foul, abusive and insulting profanity. Their underlying message is that they are in the right and I am in the wrong. It doesn't matter about DA's policies regarding sexually explicit photography, they are always right because DA is wrong (and therefore by extension I am too). "Art is spontan

Fur and otherToday, one person asked me by Etsy, why in my photos I use real fur. I think it is appropriate to respond publicly, if anyone else is important.Fur and other1 year ago in Personal More Like This
I love the fur and other animal materials, but I am against the commercial production of fur. All the fur that I have is the gifts and waste. This is part of the animals that died of natural causes or killed by necessity, not for their fur.
I'm against killing animals for decorations or entertainment, but if the animal is dead, I think that we need use his body as much as possible.
I think it is possible to use materials of animal origin, which are a by-product (if the animal is killed for their meat, but may also use the skin)
I'm not a vegetarian, but I watch with great interest for the work on the creation of artificial meat. I hope that in the future for meat and skins will contain technology that is not going to suffer real animals. This route seems to me more promising than a complete rejection of animal products.

Should I post my poetry..?Solitude.Should I post my poetry..?3 years ago in Personal More Like This
One of the many, small things that keeps me seperate from you.
I find peace in pretending to play dead; At least from within.
Only those clinging to memories and keepsakes care for the dead.
The deceased cannot feel their empathy,
They are cold as they rot beneath the surface.
Thinking thusly suffocates the pain for a brief moment,
It silences the hurt in my soul.
The pain you caused will fade away as long as I lie still.
Like a rotting carcass, I act as though I cannot feel anything anymore.
In the night when the moon starts to shiver,
I huddle up in my misery to wrap a blanket of self-hatred around my limbs.
This hug of suffering caresses my every ache and hushes my sobs.
It tells me to lie still.
And so I do it - I do it without your pity to guide me.
I need no sympathy from anyone to know what I am becoming.
So, um, should I put my poetry on dA or just stick with the crappy fanart and photography? 'Cause some of my stuff is quite dark - a lot darker than that -
Nerd/Gaming/Comic Culture Sexism VideosSince this keeps being a reoccurring topic I thought I'd lend a hand and put together a comprehensive list of web shows and youtube videos that pretty much explain or talk about these various topics. The vast majority of these will be from Jimquisition and MovieBob's various shows (because in my eyes they're the two biggest proponents out there discussing this stuff on a regular basis), but there's a couple other web shows too. They've been all categorized and easily separated so you can pick and choose whatever you wanna watch. BTW: If you aren't already watching these shows, you really should be!Nerd/Gaming/Comic Culture Sexism Videos1 year ago in Personal More Like This

I just wanna share with u all an idea I had for a Looooongvtime but was afraid to do it cause of misunderstandings. After I made Jakiels eldest version and added the grand kids into the mix it really let's u remember that your Oc is well still mortal and in their future will meet their end.
There was a question I was waiting to be asked but since it never came imma just do it. No one asked older jaky or his kids about the future after he eventually passes on. I kno I kno sad topic but for futher character development real life aspect must be seen.
In my mind I believe his passing will be peaceful surronded by family, friends, and me the admin. Jaky as king would have already written his will leaving all four kids and his wife a small locked box with their name on it only a special key will open it and no one is allowed to say wat their gift was for it was personal and sentimental. His office I believe Maria wil
When selling your work...Keep in mind this:When selling your work...2 years ago in Personal More Like This
800 points = around $10.
400 points = around $5
40 points = ¢50
Do you really want to spend a long amount of time on a drawing only to receive the equivalent of half a dollar?
If you want to share things for cheap or free because you enjoy doing it than by all means do so, but what I'm saying is, don't under value yourself, and for the love of god don't do commissions for 5 or 10 points. You're working for next to nothing if you do that.
What you need to do is find a good place to sell your art so you can sell it at a reasonable fair price that's fair to both you and the buyer. There are places around on dA for this.
Commissions-R-Us say that "A group dedicated to helping people in the search of commissions to be made, allowing them to find somebody to request a commission from deviants at different ways to pay, such as using the Deviantart Points, paypal, etc.
We also have a Priority Commission List for those who are in need of money! Please check them out
the myth about talentMany people are under the assumption many of the high profile artists in the digital art community are mainly good because of talent. This is not completely true(in my opinion). What does make them great is the simple fact of constant and regular practice. But if you still like to cling to the word, then talent is just in other words an ambition and motivation. This word,"talent" has been branded with something that you think is something that can only be inherited and if you dont have it you are doomed to fail. Many people has lost potential careers because of this.the myth about talent2 years ago in Personal More Like This
well folks let me put that myth to rest because i think anyone with ambition and motivation can learn any tool and any skill. And if you are not learning it, it is because you are not working hard enough on it.its simple as that. The practice will open your eyes and you will develop to see things in different ways, once again this has nothing to do with talent. Once your understanding of all the levels of art gets wide
the importance of failingsOften times i see many artists on all levels expressing their expectations from their current progress and seeing it as they fail. They feel this way because the type of level that is set is not only high but its constantly changing to grow higher even as they are progressing passed levels of artistic skills.the importance of failings2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Imagine a horse rider holding a fishing pole with sugar(your artistic level you want to reach) by the end of the string. And you the artist is the horse pursuing it.You are progressing forward but your goal is also being set higher as you progress.
And of course you will never ever reach the level that is constantly changing and i think this is an idea that every eager and striving artist should be comfortable with. To be comfortable with failing. This is not to say that you wont reach new levels , because you will. The levels you set up when you started out are much lower then the levels you set in your current phase.
The tough part is of course to stay on trac
Have you ever wondered....why more traditional artworks get less response then the usuall photobashed stuff does? medium level artists can pull of collages pretty easily but they cant pull of more painting heavy pieces...Have you ever wondered....2 years ago in Personal More Like This
its just sad to see that artists out there who put lots of effort into the paintings never get the credit as the guy who bashes 3 photos together and puts lens flares on top

be really dedicatedSo, I was drawing at work yesterday (I'm now at WB btw, yay!), when I just looked down, startled, and thought, "This is what I wanted it to look like." I suddenly couldn't fathom how that had happened. Like I don't remember when I got to the point where someone tells me their idea, then I'm able to sit down and just MAKE THAT THING. I remember being someone who couldn't figure out how to do that, and I acknowledge being the me I am now, but where were the two bridged and when did I cross? Tokota are, amazingly, not in the canine family. They are a caniform, but are more closely related to bears.
Originating as an apex predator native to the wild tundra of the arctic circle, they are primarily carnivorous, and found their main food source in seals and ice fishing. They have a very strong natural rivalry with bears, but grew a mutual respect with primitive humans, which began their long domestication over the centuries. The modern version of the Tokota is far different from the prehistoric ancestor, and only one of the original coat types - the "natural" type - remains. All other coat types were selectively bred into the species as the result of certain hair mutations.
On top of being utilized as early transportation, guard animals, and hunters, they were revered as a sacred animal, and most commonly bear the significance of strong loyalty in primitive symbolism.

RE: How is Amy doing?I've been getting a lot of messages on various social media all asking the same thing: "Amy has been gone for a while now, is she ok?"RE: How is Amy doing?1 year ago in Personal More Like This
In short: YES. PLEASE DONT WORRY, FRIEND.
In long: She is busy with her second year of college, as I am and many of us in our social group are. This can really sap your motivation for other activities, so I don't blame her for taking a break! Amy also took Summer classes and holds a job all the while, so she gets about 1 day a week off, which is probably spent on personal things and/or homework. Again, not much time for arts. Also, if you're still worried for her mother's health, be calm my friend. Her breast cancer was diagnosed very early and she has since recovered nicely. I am not in direct contact with Amy on a day-to-day basis anymore (separate universities and all that) so I can't say much else!
If you're wondering about the fate of Star Days, I was told by Amy last time I saw her that she has not been working on it. This may have changed,
How to feel miserable as an artistI found this on facebook. I have no idea who wrote this, but I really agree with it. I'll also have to remind myself of a few of these once in a while. How to feel miserable as an artist3 years ago in Personal More Like This
How to feel miserable as an artist (or what not to do)
1. Constantly compare yourself to other artists.
2. Talk to your family about what you do and expect them to cheer you on.
3. Base the success of your entire career on one project.
4. Stick with what you know.
5. Undervalue your expertise.
6. Let money dictate what you do.
7. Bow to societal pressures.
8. Only do work that your family would love.
9. Do whatever the client/customer/gallery owner/patron/investor asks.
10. Set unachievable/overwhelming goals. To be accomplished by tomorrow.

very sad news everyone.this is the day we have all wished would never happened to this fandom. Next Monday is the day we wished would never come. Next Monday is going to be the worst day. We are all going to relive something that all of us have hoped would never happen again. So next Monday on nickelodeon at 5:00pm and then again for some reason at 7:00, DO NOT WATCH THE LAST AIRBENDER MOVIE AT ALL! Instead, why don't you watch regular show then adventure time on cartoon network at that time. Or better yet, why don't you get up from your chair at 5:00 pm next Monday and reply slam your head against the wall until all you can see is blackness. That would be better then going thru that again. Or maybe just watch regular show then adventure time on cartoon network, that maybe for the best.very sad news everyone.2 years ago in Personal More Like This

I am not dead at all (coffee has successfully prevented that)! Actually I am still doing a lot of artwork and stuff (as well as going to conventions), I just haven't posted much on DeviantArt any more (you can look up updates and galleries I am using on my website www.tanidareal.com). DeviantArt has become kinda unusable to me (so much dynamic and overloaded stuff/design, therefore long loading times, it was so much easier/nicer to use this site years ago). I may still update it once in a while, but if you're looking for frequent art updates, please check out my other galleries (FA, Weasyl, Tumblr).
Please note that I will not read/answer my notes here on DA!
