My Heavily Caffeinated Heart
Vanilla Latte: Part 1
Friday morning rain was falling and there I was in desperate need of my usual heavily caffeinated brew that only my favourite coffee house could offer. I wouldn't mind a humongous chocolate muffin either. As I was stroking my long and hairy metaphorical beard, I wondered whether or not I should ask my fellow house mates if they wanted anything from Empire Rose. I could rule Kate out, she would sleep in until midday after last night.
Besides, my nose was itchy, accidents tended to happen when my nose was itchy. You can't mess with that logic.
I couldn't very well go out in only my Little Miss Sunshine panties and ratty old tank top so reluctantly, after I'd fixed myself in the bathroom, I fished through my draws for something suitable to wear for work. It was a miracle of the gods that I'd managed to force my short bedraggled hair down. Time check. The glowing red numbers told me that I still had an hour and a h

I am the girl who, on a particularly crummy day, will eat a whole tub of Ben & Jerry's ice cream while watching The Notebook.
I am the girl who walks around barefoot in oversized T-shirts when she's at home.
I am the girl who walks into the kitchen to get something and can't remember what it was.
I am the girl who stays up late reading scary stories because she can't fall asleep because she was reading scary stories.
I am the girl who wears her hair down and doesn't wear make up.
I am beautiful.
So are you.

I would like you to meet Rufus Trimmer.
Over here, we have Leonard Rudie.
We put Rufus and Leo in the middle of the desert
To see what would happen.
All for your viewing pleasure.
Rufus follows Leo around.
Leo is focused on leaving this place.
The desert wears on Rufus,
But Rufus remains unaware
Of his mortality.
Rufus questions the desert around him.
There is no good, there is no evil.
There is the infinite.
He wonders why he must leave this place.
Leo put his mind to looking for
water while he walks. He wants out.
Thirst begins to take its toll.
Leo questions the existence of the
man next to him.
Rufus talks to Leo.
"Why do you want to leave this place?
There is nothing good out there."
Leo responds to Rufus,
"We will die in here!"
Rufus looks at Leo, confused,
"We will die out there,
Our deaths will be incidental out there.
Our deaths in here will be of no fault
Of our own, and we will face no
Further persecution, except by the sun."
Rufus and Leo can barely walk anymore,
I Am The Mighty!I Am The Mighty:I Am The Mighty!2 years ago in Flash Fiction & Vignettes More Like This
I remember this tale, from a time of brutality; from whence I would have gladly murdered a soul. For the fragile seek to transcend their pain, but ever are they poisoned by it.
This man I remember had called himself ‘Mighty’ and I watched from the stands as he delivered his speech. “You are the fools!” he cried to the audience, “for even as you mock me, I am whole. Through tragedies I've suffered, through pain I persevered. I am a greater man and your words may never hurt me.”
Fool, is what I thought, for he seemed to take pride in this display. The crowd cheered him on, patting him on the back, but to me he lacked conviction. For I saw through the sham in his boast and I knew that his demons would haunt him again. This time a little earlier than needed.
“Yes my friends, I am a damaged man. I have been broken before and my spirit shattered,” he continued to ramble, as I drew close to him.

For quite some time now.
And we've been through a lot together
Through crazy times
Thick and thin
And all that.
I get to hear you say
"I love you"
In a way
I've never heard you say it before.
Deep deep down
I wish you could say it to me
In that way.
But it makes me complete
To hear you tell it to her.
There's a love and a warmth
That make me feel
Is exactly as it should be.
And I still love you
And hope we never part,
But as it turns out,
One of the greatest things in this world
Is hearing in your voice
The love you have for her.
And there's no jealousy
Or pangs of sadness
On my end.
As it turns out
Just the way it is.
And I wouldn't want it
To be any other way.

Chasing Shadows of You...Chasing Shadows of You...Chasing Shadows of You...2 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
No matter the years that pass me by,
It seems I am forever trapped.
For when it comes to deceiving myself,
I'm afraid I'm rather apt.
In the end the truth which I sought to avoid, is now knocking at my door...
A rabid rat that chews at me; one I can't ignore.
And though I might have grown this body, from the lonely years I've seen.
I'm afraid I can only chase the shadow, of my dearest Angeline.

I Love You,
Three simple words,
Said by many,
Three simple words,
Abused by many,
Three simple words,
Meant by many...
So from me,
What do they mean?
When you cry,
When you laugh,
When you fight,
When you love,
And when you're alone,
Have no where to go,
There is no hope,
I am there...
To hold you,
To comfort you,
To protect you,
To let you know,
I will always,
With all my heart,
With the meaning known,
I leave you,
With these three,
Very simple words...
Very Powerful words...
Truly spoken words...
Those three words,
That simply mean
I Love You

"What?" Mana-chan asked, not lifting her head from her drawings. She's been doing that a lot lately. It's like she's drawing down memories so that she wouldn't forget.
"I realized that I'm a really strange person." I said.
"No, really?" Mana-chan replied, sarcastically. "I didn't notice-of course you are a strange person. We all are strange people."
"I know, I don't mean that!" I sighed in exasperation.
"Then what do you mean?" Mana-chan said, rolling her eyes.
"I was just thinking about the silence. The more I think about it, I really don't know what to make of it.
"When people scream, I long for peace and silence. But when silence reigns true, I get frightened of the silence, as if millions of eyes are silently watching my every move. But when there is music quietly playing in the background, I feel at ease-am I being weird or am I just thinking too much?" I asked, indignant.
"No, you are r

Not a vacation to a beach or some exotic resort to go skiing or anything like that...in fact in this time none of this existed. However, he still wanted a vacation, and not from his surroundings...but from his life.
"So tell me," his cousin laughed as they smoked together, laying down on the stairs leading to the eighth floor of thier grandfather's palace, "what do you plan to do when everything has balance out in the universe? I mean...you're going to be put in the council under your father."
"I've been under my father way too many times and I don't have any desire to be under him in council either," Vestera rolled his eyes, reaching over and stealing his cousin's smoldering joint.
"I didn't mean that way," the other dragon chuckled.
"Why do you think it's taking so long to put things in balance?" Vestera asked carefully, staring up at the stairs above them.
"Because your father and uncles can't agree with our grandfather on anything," the younger dragon lau
