Yayayay! After all of these years cosplay, I finally got to Cosplay Zelda! I've always wanted to cosplay from the series, and I cosplayed Aryl awhile back, but never received any photos of it! So now we see the world premiere of a Legend of Zelda costume!!
We made these costumes pretty last minute at Katsucon, but I'm still happy with the results! (You can still tell who I am supposed to be, right?)
I updated my Medli costume for Katsucon! I made a new beak (it's a custom latex prosthetic), as well as wings! They are fully articulated to mimic the proper movement of a real bird's wings. These were a huge undertaking, it was my first time constructing anything that dabbled into the area of puppetry, but I'm so pleased with the end result! They worked really well at the con, and most importantly, they didn't break!
The wings were made by adapting =Sunnybrook1's Realistic Wing Tutorial: [link] I ended up making quite a few changes to it, but that's what inspired the basic idea! Definitely check it out if you want to get a general understanding of how my wings were made.
I was also honored to have Rin join me as Link! She was absolutely perfect and I had so much fun getting to cosplay her! (The first of many more in the future!!)
These costumes have been featured in a few Katsucon cosplay videos! Kevin Stiller's "Katsucon 19 - 2013 *Instant Edit* [Friday]": [link] Andalantie's "Katsucon 2013 Cosplay Showcase [2-2]": [link] MLZStudio's "Katsucon 2013 Cosplay Video [3-3]": [link]

Today marks the day that Issue #8 of Batman Incorporated titled "R.I.P." is released. It marks the death of my favorite Robin. I don't have a picture to do my feeling regarding this justice, nothing I have even comes close.
As much as I keep telling myself not to care, because it's the reboot and I keep seeing everything that happens in the reboot as a bad fanfic...I can't help but find myself getting torn up over this. Damian was the character that got me back into comic books. The Grant Morrison run of Batman and Robin sparked something in me that I hadn't felt in years, it recaptured my love of Batman and American comic books heroes that had gotten lost somewhere along the way.
I loved watching Damian transform from this selfish brat to a well rounded character that was finally starting to grasp who he was and where he stood in the world now that he was a Robin (Not that he would admit he was ever lost in the first place.)
But then the universe was rebooted and I had to watch all the progress Damian had made fly out the window...and in turn I stopped reading DC comics. But having Damian regress if far different from having Damian die; and though I try and ignore everything that makes me angry about the reboot I just can't seem to ignore it this time. I'm heart broken--even if it is comic books and he'll will most likely come back to life. It just makes me feel like even Damian's creators have given up on him--a prevalent theme in the kid's life.
Maybe it's a little too much for me to feel this way for a comic book character. A work of fiction, able to be twisted and bent by the whims of whomever is writing him. But the brat wormed his way into my heart and I just don't think it's time for him to go.

Here it is! The costume I've been in tears over for the past month. This isn't at all how I wanted the costume to turn out...but looking back at the pictures I've gotten from Mitch I couldn't be happier! I'm so glad Brenda had a shirt I could use after not being able to figure out the pattern I had been trying to do. Though I still don't understand how I was able to fit into a shirt of Brenda's!
Here come the Katsucon photos! This is the only picture I've gotten back so far, so I just HAD to upload it! I can't wait until I get some more, seeing as I brought almost all new costumes to Katsucon~
Wheatley ended up being the most popular costume I brought that weekend. I guess having glowing props really help a costume, ahah! Plus anytime a child is excited to see me, the costume gets eight million times better. I can't count how many times I stopped to let a little kid play with my Portal gun.
The bowtie was modified from a Wheatley Keychain and if you have one of those you know that thing is BRIGHT!
