NIGHTMARE NIGHT plushie contest! It's that time of year again, and the theme of our contest is: Nightmare Night!NIGHTMARE NIGHT plushie contest!5 months ago in Personal More Like This
There's lots of room for creativity with this theme - ponies in costume (canon or original), OC ponies with spooky cutie marks, monster versions of ponies, pony versions of horror characters, . . . as long as it's related to My Little Pony (any generation) and Halloween Nightmare Night, it's good!
1. You can enter as often as you like, however you will only win one prize.
2. You may use previously made plushies.
3. Entries must be your own work. You can not enter store bought plushies (including modified ones), or plushies you have commissioned from other artists.
4. You must be a member of this group to participate & vote. Why do we do this? To prevent entrants skewing the voting results by getting their friends to vote for them.
5. The contest ends OCTOBER 30th 2013
HOW TO ENTER
1. Make sure "Nightmare Night Contest" is in the title of your submission.

LET'S GET FOLDINGLET'S GET FOLDINGLET'S GET FOLDING7 months ago in Art Features More Like This
Many times a friend or a deviant has said to me, "oh I could never fold origami, I'm not gifted that way", but it's just not true! As part of projecteducate's Artisan Crafts week, I'm going to show you how simple it is to find and fold something gorgeous and to present it well to your internet audience.
With just a little inspiration and a bit of patience, ANY one of us could fold something absolutely lovely. So what are you waiting for?? Let's get folding!
1) BE INSPIRED
First of all, you need to figure out what you want to fold. You need inspiration from looking at gorgeous origami, from admiring nature and the world around, or maybe it'll just hit you like a random lightning bolt. We are super privileged to have many experienced and skilful origamists on dA, many who create their own models from scratch. From persona
Introduction to Cross StitchingCross StitchingIntroduction to Cross Stitching6 months ago in Art Features More Like This
Cross stitch is one of a number of embroidery stitches, but usually the one most people are familiar with. Whether it was in a school art class or just randomly picking up a cross stitch kit as a kid, a lot of us have tried it at some point. Lets delve into this popular stitch a little bit.
What is a cross stitch?
As the name suggests, is is simply a cross, or an 'X' stitched with thread onto canvas. Typically, it's used to make a picture or a pattern. The stitch will form a complete square, and in this regard it is quite similar to pixel art. Through the placement of individual stitches adjacent to one another, an overall image will eventually appear.
It's an incredibly simple stitch, but can take some time to master. Like many crafts, it can be difficult to notice the

So you want to make a ponyI get asked alot of questions on how to make pony plushes. I really don't think I'm the best person to ask since I'm a total noob, but I will try to help! First off, you need a pattern. I don't sell or give out my pattern, but there are plenty of nice ones online! How To Photograph Your CraftsThe absolute number one cause of rejection of DD suggestions for most Artisan Craft CVs is poor photography. There is nothing worse than seeing an otherwise brilliant piece ruined by a dodgy photo. But even beyond DD acceptance, if you want to people on dA to be able to appreciate your skill you need to be able to show your work off to advantage. How To Photograph Your Crafts6 months ago in Art Features More Like This
Sometimes I'll tell a self-suggester that I can't feature their work because of the quality of the photography and they'll inevitably reply, "Oh, I'll have to get a better camera."
Repeat after me: the tools never make the artist.
You don't need a $9000 sewing machine to stitch a dress, you don't need a $1000 stand mixer to bake a cake, and you similarly don't need a top of the range SLR to take a brilliant photograph. It's all in how you take the photo.
To help us understand photography concepts a little more, Fella is going to help us out. Say hi Fella!
Twilight Sparkle Fans! Are you a Twilight Sparkle Fan? Do you like to have points? If your answers are YES then keep reading this journal!Twilight Sparkle Fans!3 months ago in Personal More Like This
So as you all know Season 4 of the show has started days ago. And you all know that the title is Princess Twilight Sparkle. And I know all her fans would love her more just like me. But if you don't know about the episode yet go here. Now let's talk about getting points, all you have to do is comment "I'm a Twilight Sparkle Fan!" but before your name appears on the list I have to check if you really are a fan of her and then just wait for my note. There will be a group activity that will test you if you really know Twilight Sparkle.

Why it's important to put a disclaimer in art descEDIT: HI Please don't reply to the original comment unless you have serious inquiries. And if you do be mindful to be polite! U v U But this is specific to their case (though if it happens once it has to happen more than once) so I find value in warning others. DA does take the images down when reported most of the time without the disclaimer but it really can't hurt and it gives them less excuses to not carry through with your report. Thank you!Why it's important to put a disclaimer in art desc10 months ago in Personal More Like This
Wow, so up till today I always found the "Please don't trace, redistribute, copy etc" was unnecessary in a lot of comments since people are going to do what they're going to do no matter what right? But wow lo and behold I found this comment in the disqus section of Artist Confessions. Basically what it's saying is due to DA's rules if the artist doesn't say to not trace then they cannot penalize reported tracers. At least that's what I'm drawing from

Tutorial: How to machine stitch heads onto bodiesTutorial time! This is another basic tutorial that will show you how to machine stitch a plush's head onto its body. Please be aware that I can't teach anyone how to make patterns. I'm just putting together a few tips and tricks that will hopefully help someone.Tutorial: How to machine stitch heads onto bodies19 hours ago in Personal More Like This
Sew your plush's body together, leaving the entire back open.
Sew your plush's head together, also leaving the back open.
Match the head to the body and pin. When making your pattern, make sure the circumference of the opening at the bottom of the head is equal to the circumference of the neck opening of the plush body.
Sew a straight line from one end to the other.
The plush's head is now attached!
You should now have a plush with the entire back open! All you have to do now is finish it!
Selling MORE cosplayHi friends,Selling MORE cosplay1 year ago in Personal More Like This
I've just too much stuff lying around, so I thought about selling again a few things I probably won't wear anymore.
If you're interested in any of them, feel free to send me a note!
SHIPPING: The shipping costs depend on where you live. They'll always be added to the cosplay's price, but of course I don't know yet how much the shipping will cost in any case. I'll keep them as low for you as possible. I ship worldwide!
SIZES: All sizes are Small / EUR: 34 / 36
PRICES: All prices are what I had to spend on the materials, nothing is added for the tailoring because I wore them before. In some cases it's even less than the material costs. Please respect the prices, I only used the best suitable fabrics so they're often not the cheapest ones. But if you want a cosplay really badly but you can only pay a little less than the price, we can talk about it. I hope that's ok for you!
