Brother's Of The BatWe constantly disagree… Can never let each other just simply be…
We inevitably hate… Hoping someone will make the first mistake…
We endlessly fight… Just put us together and I promise we’ll bite…
We persistently feud… Being ever so shrewd…
We naturally loathe… Pride and life-- by the end of it you’ll be lucky to have both…
We boundlessly provoke… Even with a gesture as simple as a poke…
We ceaselessly despise… Waiting on the others sheer demise…
We limitlessly mock… Any hour of the clock…
We eternally dispute… Raging over the same damn suit…
We continuously daunt… Only to bitterly taunt…
We repeatedly wrangle… We’ve knotted together so often that we’re a tangle…
We unlimitedly differ… And our opinions are only getting stiffer…

Chapter one: Together and Alone
The Batman stands on top of Wayne tower his cape blowing behind him. It's a freezing night, not that this is anything uncommon in Gotham. Beneath the cowl Bruce Wayne holds a heavy expression. He wonders where the boy is, Dick Grayson, what's happening to him.
Bruce remembers what happened three weeks ago so clearly. As clearly as the death of his own parents. How could he allow this to happen? He is the BATMAN! He is supposed to protect people, save people. He did this all to make sure no children would end up like he did.
And yet somewhere there is a child suffering. And he was there! He should have done something! He should have stopped it! He failed again. Bruce throws his head up and screams.

Grayson turned to the young voice belonging to the CEO of Wayne Enterprise. Grayson sent a small smile to the business man.
“Of course Mr. Wayne. I wouldn’t have much of an investigation without ya.” Grayson greeted the CEO warmly as they shook hands.
“Please, just call me Wayne. With the amount of time we’ve spent together the last few months, I think we can drop the formalities.” Wayne corrected. Grayson just nodded and took a seat in the empty chair in front of Wayne’s desk.
“So Wayne, what is it you want to talk about. Has the mob contacted you again? Has He been sending you threats about the inheritance?”
Wayne sat in the extravagant leather seat behind the desk, tightening his tie and fixing his cufflinks.
“No, they have gone underground again. They have been laying low ever since the news published the investigation. It’s a shame how press always needs the next hot

Robin chuckled under his breath as he stared down at his computer, catching the attention of the speedster that was walking into the main room of Mount Justice from the kitchen with a plate of hotdogs.
"What're you laughing at?"
The Boy Wonder's smile grew a bit as he typed out something on his laptop, "Just IM-ing with a writer."
"Someone famous?" Wally asked, speeding over and staring down at the screen.
"Nah, just one of those annoying people that write stories about us. I was discussing their OC's."
"Where they create their own character, usually a girl, and make them fall in love one of us."
"Please don't tell me you're reading about another Mary Sue they've randomly paired us with?"
Robin replied with a hidden eye roll, "Oh please, if I see one more incarnation of Batman's inexistent daughter, that I apparently fall head over heels in love with, I'm going to throw up."
Kid Flash sighed in relief and grabbed the remote before sitting next to his best friend on the couch th

AUTHOR'S NOTE: I've been sitting on this one for a while. I didn't know if I liked it when I first wrote it and then I kind of forgot about it. However, my new poll has reminded me that many of you want to see more in the Linchpin verse, so I dug this out and cleaned it up a bit. It's nothing but pure fluff – which is why I think I'm so iffy about it. There is no Robin Torture at all in it! Seriously!
DISCLAIMER: I've said it many times, but I'll say it again because I don't want to be sued: They're not mine! (Please don't sue me!)

Author's Note: A while back, I held a poll on which RiD one-shot I would write next. This one came in 4th on Deviant Art with 13% of the vote and 3rd on with 14% of the vote. I've tried to write the others before it, but they weren't cooperating so here we are!
This has been a nibble in my mind for a while now and I think I've broken through my writer's block enough to get this out. I hope it meets my expectations as well as yours. It begins during the battle on Malina Island at the end of the second season episode "Alienated".
Disclaimer: Young Justice is not mine; Batman/Robin/et al are not mine; basically none of it is mine but I'm playing with them anyway! I promise I'll return them when I'm done with them… hopefully with all the right pieces. *EvilGrin*

It was the vile taste of rancid leftovers that finally chased the last vestiges of unconsciousness from him mind. Thirteen year old Robin forced his eyes open and regretted it instantly when the all-too-familiar, pulsating pounding threatened to split his skull. 'Damn it, why am I the one who always ends up getting chloroformed," he complained internally, attempting to massage the headache that was centralized behind his temples. Except his hands wouldn't move; that was when he realized how he was laying.
On his side, with his hands unable to be moved from behind him.
It was always disconcerting, being kidnapped when he was Dick Grayson. If he had been Robin he could have fought back, but as the adopted son of billionaire Bruce Wayne he knows only the rudimentary basics of self defense; easily overpowered by someone determined enough. Especially if his abductor was armed with chloroform soaked rags and rendered him unconscious. Which left him helpless to whatever means of containment w

"Alfie, can you help me next?" Dick sounded a little helpless.
"Do I have to tie your shoelaces too, master Dick?" Alfred said stoically.
"Very funny, Alfie. Will you please help me now?"
"Sometimes I wonder where you would all be right now, if I was not here to help you." Alfred said turning to Dick to help him.
"Uhm, I don't want to know I think." Was all that Dick said.
Then he turned to Damian, "Why don't you try to make some friends today instead of making them cry, little D."
He didn't look forward to another talk with Damian's principal.
Damian just grumbled.
"Class, today we're going on a fieldtrip." Mr. Williams said.
The other kids looked at the teacher expectantly, so Damian followed their example.

My vision finally began to blur as the door slowly opened. I soon became alert. A little figure slowly entered the room. With the curtains opened it was easier to tell the little figure was Damian in his finlet PJ’s with a hood attached to the shirt (curtsy of Alfred), with the light of the moon I could see the tears rolling down his face. I knew what to do after all this was the sixth time this month this has happened. I picked Damian up and walked over to my bed, as I sat down he instantly curled and pressed his face against my body. I realised was hugging the teddy bear I “secretly” put in his room. I rubbed his head and hugged him as the tears went down his face...”The nightmare again?” I asked although I knew the answer. He simply nodded and hugged the teddy bear tighter. The old fireplace mantle was buried under dust and ash that might have found better salvation in the broken cave beneath the proud manor. Damian decided that it would be the first thing to tackle. Sweeping ashes and debris into a three-fourths broken dustpan that had been left in a corner of the library; he simply tried not to breath.
Sweep a bit, breathe a bit, and repeat.
He kept the pattern up, simply because a pattern meant order.
This place needed order.
True, the long line of cleaning supplies he had pulled together and set down beside the fireplace were all soldiers from when war was outside the home, but they didn't leave anything for him to grasp at. A wisp of fading detergent he couldn't remember. So, he took the moldy water from a never-drained bathtub and tore an old jacket of his father's apart for a hand full of rags before having the moth-eaten cloth dance over the dirt and grime. It was a crude musical in his mind as he attempted to get his mind to communicate to the bo

He looked up when Tim entered the kitchen.
"Hey Dami, are you okay?"
Why did everybody all of a sudden care so much about him?
"Fine." Damian grumbled again.
Alfred walked to door, checked the hallways and closed it.
"What are you doing, Alfred?" Tim asked
"Making sure Master Dick is not here."
Damian looked up again,
"It's his birthday today, so please remember to be home in time. We will have some guests."
"Sure thing, Alfie. " Tim said, grabbing his backpack. He waved to Damian with a mock smile "See you later Damian." and exited the kitchen. Damian watched him go with a scowl.
"We shall be leaving soon too, Master Damian. Are you finished?"
Damian looked at his unfinished cereal and pushed the bowl away.
"Yes, I am finished Pennyworth."

Damian sighted. Since it was only his third day of school he didn't have a project to work on so he probably would be stuck again with some stupid assignment of which he didn't see the point.
And indeed it didn't take Mr. William's long to come up to his table with a piece of paper in his hand.
"I have a different assignment for you, Damian."
Damian rolled his eyes, but Mr. William's just ignored it.
"I'd like you make a card for your father, since it's his birthday tomorrow.."
"Grayson's not my father!" Damian snapped, but instantly he regretted it. Dick had been more of a father to him lately, then anybody ever had.
"He's my brother, I guess." he added , his voice a little less sharp.
"Brother then. Here I have some pencils and a card for you. I would like to see it when you're done."

He woke up to all of them going off at once. No, he did not have dozens of alarm clocks set up around his apartment. It was the communicators. Blue eyes opened, revealing reddening whites and slanted eyebrows. The same blue eyes turned towards the clock on the wall.
His Night patrol had ended just an hour ago and when he went to clear the drowsiness from his eyes, he found that his mask was still on. Whoops!
Well, all the better for answering the call from the other heroes. All of the communicators were ringing.
Richard wanted to sleep. Dick wanted the day off. Officer Grayson wanted caffeine. Robin wanted to smash the communicators. Nightwing wanted to make a joke and painstakingly pull himself out of bed to answer the calls. Red X wanted to set rabid raccoons free into the callers' homes and Batman gave the largest mental Batglare he could muster. The Target was in there somewhere as well, but he just muttered gibberish.

A Father looked down at his children and smiled with great pride.
" What would you regret when you saw that I'd died?"
The oldest bird was the first to reply,
" Not keeping my promise,
And letting you down.
I'll eventually make it up to you somehow".
The third son was unsure what to do,
He knew he was thankful but the words just wouldn't come through.
"I'm sorry", is what he first managed to say.
"For blaming you for all of my pain".
The youngest didn't need to think twice about this,
He knew what he wanted and he knew what it meant.
"Only not having you here,
That's all that I need and all that I fear".
The Father hugged his three sons,
And tears formed in his eyes,
He found it much easier to tell them Good-bye.
But then he realized once the hugging was done,
That they actually were missing someone.
The second oldest son,
The runt of them all,
Sat alone in a corner, ignoring it all.
The other three sons lifted their beaks at him,
But the Father was curious,

Seeing HimThe first time Batman had ever seen Richard Grayson was, contrary to popular belief, not at the circus. It had been a few days before, actually, at night in a dismally gray alleyway.Seeing Him3 years ago in General Fiction More Like This
It had been a cold February night, but there wasn't much snow left on the ground. John Grayson had apparently wanted to grab a late night bite to eat, and his eager eight-year-old son had tagged along, insisting on doing nearly everything his father did like many boys at that age. Most of the night had passed uneventfully; the Joker was quiet, no large robberies, nobody from the rogue gallery had acted up. For Batman, it was almost peaceful.
He had been on a stakeout on a rooftop when he noticed the large man and his tinyit was bordering ridiculous how small Richard Grayson wasson enter the alley, probably a shortcut to their home.
Only, Batman thought, these people must either be very new to Gotham or only be visiting, because anybody who actually lived in Gotham (or anywhere near Gotham) knew
