CONTEST! - What Summer Means to You (CLOSED) Hi Everyone!CONTEST! - What Summer Means to You (CLOSED)1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Our last contest seemed to be a great success, so we've decide to hold another one!
The theme this time is... What Summer Means to You!
As this is a broad theme, you can pretty much do anything you enjoy about summer, but if you're stuck for ideas, here's a few ideas to get you going:
Summer flowers (eg. a sunflower)
A beach scene
Friends hanging out together
Summer fruits (eg. watermelon, cherries etc.)
As our group is based around colour, we encourage you to make your entries as colourful as possible! For the full terms and conditions, see below...
There are prizes up for grabs for the top three best creations:
3 llamas (from PinkRoseBud, DaFurryOne, abluelotus)
3 watches (from PinkRoseBud, DaFurryOne, and abluelotus)
:bulletyellow: 9 faves (3 each from PinkRoseBud, DaFurryOne, and abluelotus)
Another Week Has Passed...Wow, these weeks just go by so quickly anymore. Sometimes I wonder if I'm hurrying them along and not living them to their very most. This year was supposed to be about change and growth, and I feel I have worked a lot on the growth, maybe not as much on the change. My problem is that I have a million ideas in my head a minute and I just don't know how to relax anymore. I wish I had some kind of "manager of my life" telling me "no" when I plan too much. Because that's often what I do. I want to spend more time with my family this year, but it seems like I'm planning away all of my free time! I need to push myself back to the one personal project per month thing as well as limiting the amount of pictures I edit, now I just have to work on saying "no." I am quite serious when I say that "saying no" was one of my new year's resolutions this year. Perhaps, my reluctance to say no is because I know how it feels to be rejected. I'd be lying ifAnother Week Has Passed...3 months ago in Personal More Like This

Updates + Under 30 Favorites...what?!So, I closed out my gallery show on Friday with the reception. The whole thing was such a lovely experience, and I really was so excited to hear from people that they enjoyed my show! Unfortunately, the reception was quite rainy and it prevented a lot of people from coming. I wish some more people that I didn't personally already know might have showed up But anyways, I'll have some nice gallery views up in the next week or so, and I'll eventually finish submitting Taylor's images as well. I even have a few Sasha pictures to submit soon!Updates + Under 30 Favorites...what?!11 months ago in Personal More Like This
And now for the feature for today, an under 30 feature!

out to be harder than I thought, but I like having one just for
photography. I see a lot of works from more experienced photographers
there and have learned more about it that way (:. Anyway, these are
features of unknown works or artists with my Watchers and Friends
sprinkled in .
The consideration of the works also includes looking at how many groups
they're in and how many views/faves that type of work usually get, so
some may have 100 faves but that's low for that category. Lots of fun!
Enjoy them! <3 I'm also thinking of doing something exclusive for #30; what do you think it should be? :3
My 1st watchers' feature!!!I want to say a huge "Thank you!" to all those who follow my work and support me!My 1st watchers' feature!!!3 months ago in Personal More Like This
This is a feature of some of my watchers' works! I chose deviants randomly, since I couldn't feature everyone (maybe next time), however all of you mean so so so much to me, since dA is the first portal I ever shared my work on!
Thank you once again!

How to win at deviantART: The categories gameThe categories game refers to the switching or misplacement of deviations into less competitive or algorithm preferred submission categories in order to gain a ranking advantage in dA's popularity algorithm, generally as a means of appearing more frequently on front page and subsequently gaining greater exposure. How to win at deviantART: The categories game1 year ago in Editorials More Like This
The categories game arises from the inherent category biases under dA's "fair exposure" policy. The goal of the policy is to "maximize the display of the most popular deviations in a variety of topics with Fair Exposure, the community is exposed to a varied cross-section of deviantART. " What this boils down to is that certain categories have inherent ranking advantages and others inherent ranking disadvantages on front page. For more information on dA's fair exposure policy and how it leads to the categories game, consult my last journal on "How to win at deviantART: Exposed: http://roseonthegrey.deviantart.com/journal/How-to-win-at-deviantART-Exposed-289765235"

PE Feedback: How to Give a CritiqueHOW TO GIVE A CRITIQUEPE Feedback: How to Give a Critique11 months ago in Personal More Like This
It's a great thing that you want to critique other deviant's works and help them improve their skills through your constructive feedback. By critiquing fellow deviant's works, you are developing your critical thought and vision and thus, developing yourself as an artist. However, critiquing is not all about pointing out what others did wrong. As `ChewedKandi has pointed out in 'How To: Critiquing Artwork' "a critique is giving your opinion in a constructive manner about a subject - be it a piece a music, a piece of art, the meal you've just ate and so on."
That's the main point of this article: to share a few pointers on how to give a quality critique while providing links to a compilation of useful guides that focus on this very same topic.
Introduction: Let's start!
First things first! You've come across a piece of art that caught your attention and

“What i like about photographs is that they capture a moment that’s gone forever, impossible to reproduce.”
This week I spied an awesome topic in *Fuzzypiggy's journal and knew instantly that it was what I would talk about for edition twenty eight. "Underground train system bosses are set to ban all photos under new proposals that have angered photographers.." You can read the full article for yourself here but I would love to get some discussion going amongst us all as to whether or not the proposed ban would effect you. I'm personally quite pleased that the latest articles report a U-turn in the proposals so it doesn't look
