Yep, I'm Doin' It AgainYou know, I swore I wasn't going to rant on this shit again, but after last night, I have to. In fact, you can slap me now for letting this shit get on my nerves.Yep, I'm Doin' It Again1 week ago in Personal More Like This
As someone who gets her kicks out of blood, gore, violence, demons, and other creepy shit, (and I mean REALLY gets her kicks out of it) I do not appreciate how horror has become nothing but fap material for fangirls/boys. Why on earth would you want to take something that's meant to scare you and turn it into sexy-anime-kawaii-sugoi-bishie-adorbs-ness? I can see it if you're trying to get over a fear of something, and you make it less scary so it won't bother you anymore, but that's a whole other thing.
The event that spawned this rant is when, last night, while I was trying to get sleepy enough to actually go to bed, I was browsing the Creepypasta wiki for some of the underrated but much scarier pastas. I figured I'd give it a chance, you know? I clicked on one that was always a favorite of mine, and guess what? Th

Got any more tips, or tutorials you can find? Please tell me soon! I might make an article if I get enough tips. Every contribution is appreciated and will be credited
If you want your art to be found through search, it's more important than ever to use the right category and keywords. So my question is, do you have any tips for your fellow deviants on how to pick the right category and keywords?
Please comment and tell me all you know, and I'll make a list here with all of your tips (I will probably summarise them to like a short headline and add a link to your original comment - you will also be credited, of course).
I'm looking for any tips on how to make sure you have the category, and how to pick good keywords, basic or advanced, in general or in specific situations (say, for stock in particular).

Time for a bit of real talk.I figure this is as good a time as any to let some of you know a tiny bit about me.Time for a bit of real talk.8 months ago in Personal More Like This
I believe in honesty. I believe in respect. I sincerely think that these two things are probably the most important to partake in and ponder over. Honesty and respect are what build good relationships, even better friendships, and more miscellaneous connections that are pretty mutually beneficial. To me, when someone shows thorough lack of respect or honesty when faced with it, things get a bit silly. Honesty and respect are rooted in communication, and without communication, we fall.
I like to think of myself as an honest and relatively respectful person. We all have flaws, and I'm not an exception to that.
I keep my friends close. I keep them very close, closer than my family. When one of my friends is having problems, I stop what I'm doing, I listen, and I offer my honest, yet respectful, opinions. I don't criticise them harshly, and I don't let outside people sway my judgment or feelings

Well the prices you gave me had a distance from 60 to 500 points, it was kinda hard to merge that into one... So i averaged it out to 155. But considering that different weapons have different levels of details etc, I'll introduce you the system I figured out:
Pay as much as you think I deserve for what you got
It works like this:
You tell me which kind of weapon you want and which colours/ styles/ whatever
I will draw your commission
When I upload it, I will include the time I needed to do it in the description. [breaks etc not included, just the time I really worked on it.]
You will decide and pay what you personally think I deserve to be paid for the weapon you got.
However, since I'm t

It is so hard to get your work published these days and thank god Kevin
Eastman understands that. So having put together some special issues of

DeviantART pin-ups or a gallery...
Instead we'll do an entire issue of Heavy Metal from the DeviantART community. Yup, 100 pages of dA goodness wrapped in slick glossy paper. We're going to aim for an issue as soon as possible next year. The page rates are $75 per page (all in including lettering), yes it is really low and that
PE: Story Planning Week!Greetings everyone and welcome to another fun-packed week at projecteducate! This week has been teamed back up with CRLiterature and will be focussing on story planning!PE: Story Planning Week!9 months ago in Literature Features More Like This
What do we mean by “story planning”?
Planning a story sounds like an easy task- even at primary school level you are taught that a story must have a beginning, a middle and an end. However there are plenty of important elements that build a story; a lot of prep work that can actually improve the quality of your novel writing in the long run. This can cover almost anything- from world building, character development, creating past history and plot mapping etc. There is a huge range of elements that can turn your idea into a strong well-structured novel.
Are you going to tell me how to write a novel?
Not exactly. We can’t tell you how to approach your novel and how to write it from chapter 1 through to the end. We’re not giv

A couple of years ago I met a boy called S. He was kind, quiet and made me coffee every morning at an office we both despised for what it represented. I fell head over heels for his quiet charm, his music, his soothing voice: who he was. Except I didn't really know who he really was. Slowly, over the course of the relationship, he began to point out things he didn't like about me. He didn't like the way I overused certain phrases, the way I spoke, the way I sang, and he didn't want to listen to me talk about my past because it burdened him, and he didn't like that...basically all the little things that made me, ME would have to change. This is where I made the most critical mistake.
I changed for him.
I changed who I was to please S. And do you know what? The more I changed to suit his needs, the more demands he put on

5 Ways to Avoid Being DiminishedThere's a discussion brewing in comics about artists being more diminished as of late--that readers, reviewers, and publishers are focusing too much on writers rather than the artists who draw the book. I agree it's happening, but I'm not sure it's worth sounding an alarm over. I never felt diminished, but maybe I'm part of the exception. Maybe it's because I'm an artist and a writer.5 Ways to Avoid Being Diminished1 month ago in Personal More Like This
Either way, I do have a few thoughts on what artists can do to pull themselves out from under the rug.
1. DON'T DRAW LIKE A COG.
If you conform to a "house style", then you're at higher risk of being treated like an interchangeable cog in the comics machine. Yes, you're more likely to get consistent work, but you won't stand out as much. Therefor you'll be sought after less by big name writers, you're less likely to make a lasting impression on reviewers and readers, and you'll have a harder time getting raises (12 others draw like you and for less money).
I also suggests inking yourself if it helps. Penc
stop making excuses!i heard many people tell me that they want to make comics, they want to write them they want to draw them... but when i ask them why they don't have samples ready, it is always a barrage of excuses.stop making excuses!7 months ago in Personal More Like This

you go here, you see this video... and you ask yourselves, do you want it hard enough.
this man is a storyteller at heart. his cmic is an intense one, really cool and i recommend it it is available for preorder, a voice in the dark. it is out in november. i don't usually promote stuf, rarely even my own, but i want to promote this because this man deserves it!
so stop looking for excuses, stop trying to find reasons why it cant be done, start working on ways to get it done.

In case you were wondering what the deal is with why certain cases of 'theft' aren't taken seriously. Pretty much sums it all up with evidence.
Also, most of us know that realitysquared isn't exactly on everyone's 'top 10' list of admins on the internet... Most of the people who have dealt with that particular admin seem to always get the short end of the stick in most cases. Even I am not too fond of them... Just sayin'.
The short story: The reason why 90% of the reports for theft aren't really fixed is because apparently "alterations, edits, traces, and references are becoming regarded as acceptable by dA" -- meaning if someone does any of these things your report will probably be partially ignored if not completely.
Your best bet would be to contact the person directly through a note and ask them to rem
