The Cheetah female called Suna (Acinonyx jubatus, Gepard štíhlý, Status: Vulnerable) from ZOO Ústí nad Labem, the Czech Republic.

The International Cheetah Day Challenge (ICDC) is the day when you, supporters of saving the endangered cheetah, use art to raise awareness about this dying species and maybe even raise money for the cause! The idea behind the challenge is that deviantART's front page will be totally filled with cheetah-themed art for at least one day, and through this people will look into what's going on. Tadadada-daaa! :la:

These are the two 18-month old cheetah brothers. Fritzi is the yawning one and the right one is Hannibal.
Have you known that male cheetahs are sometimes found in groups in the wild? They're mostly brothers but also other male cheetahs might join them. These cheetah groups are usually small having two or three cheetahs but even bigger has been seen with more than 10 cheetahs!

Lets celebrate the International Cheetah Day :D
If you care about these magnificent felines you should support the Cheetah Conservation Fund!
If you like cheetahs, have a look at this folder containing mainly high quality cheetah photos: [link] more cheetah photos will be posted during the day ;)

It's International Cheetah Day! And this is my contribution to it.

This boy here is called Shaka, he was born in the Allwetterzoo Münster last year. His mother wasn't able to care for him well enough, so he was partly hand-raised. A very curious lad.

If you want to support this beautiful but endangered species go take a look at the Cheetah Conservation Fund

Ever seen a cheetah running in slow motion? [link] It's like visual poetry. And you can see how hard the cameraman had to work to keep the cheetah in the frame. :XD:

This is my submission for the International Cheetah Day Challenge!
(Though I treat every day like it's Cheetah Day. 13 hours of sleep, woo!)

Cheetahs are some of the most amazing animals on the planet. I had the honor of seeing one lead her cub through the trees in the wild. If I have kids, I want them to be able to experience that too.

If you'd like to learn more about what cheetahs face and how you can help, visit the Cheetah Conservation Fund. Then honor them with a well-deserved nap.

I read the journal above and I thought that using art to help save the cheetah, by raising awareness about it being endangered, was a really great idea.
It is not that many days ago that I read about it, so since I didnt have much time I put every other WIP I had aside, and started on this piece right away.

As I have never drawn a cheetah before, I started by studying their anatomy and proportions, so I browsed through quite a few images. During that I came across this beautiful picture, which inspired me to use the colors I used and the plane background: [link]

I wanted my cheetah to really show off the cheetahs features, so I gave her a slim body, thick chest, a thin neck and lowered her shoulders a bit.

Constructive critique is always appreciated :)

..if you would like to feel my claws.
People like to look into each other eyes and of course they like to look into the animals eyes but that could be the last thing you might do. These cats have very beautiful eyes and it's sometimes not easy to ignore them but you shouldn't forget that you are threatening them by staring into the eyes and you should avoid it if you aren't 100% sure that you are in safety.

Lets celebrate the International Cheetah Day with a cheetah photo spam :D
