HEY YOU OVER THERE,
CAN YOU SEE ME?
IM THE ONE WITH THE SHORT HAIR!
WAVE IF YOU CAN SEE ME.

I tilt my head,
and stare in confusion.
I see something out of the corner of my eye.
there is a girl over there,
with bright red hair.

COME OVER HEAR IF YOU CAN SEE ME.
I WANT TO TELL YOU A SECRET LITTLE ONE.
PLEASE DROP THAT ROPE.
YOU ARE TO PRITTY TO CHOKE.
CAN YOU SEE ME?

I drop the thing that was in my hands,
and get to my knees.
I wave my hand up high,
'help me miss' please.'

I can see her clearly now,
she looks a little like me.
but her hair is short and bright and red,
there is a spider pattern on the side.
she looks so confident,
I wish I was her.

COME SIT WITH ME DEMI I NEED TO TELL YOU SOMETHING,
ONE THING FROM ME TO YOU.

so I walk over to her and she whispers something in my ear.
'THINGS ARE NEVER HOW THEY SEEM'
she smiles and says that she has to go,
but im not upset that she is gone,
no.
that woman made me feel a lot better.
she set me free.
the little thing she whispered to me,
was that that woman was me.
today I have made my self better. I have found all the pieces of my life and put them back together again. I feel so happy and free. please to all you dudes out there, listen to this poem and realise that they are better ways of dealing with things. all you need is time, help and the good side of you. if you cant find the good side then look real deep. there she is. now embrace her, you are free my friends :happybounnce:

"And I tried hard to be proud of my service
but all I could feel was shame and racism could no longer mask the occupation.
These were people.
There were human beings.
I've since been plagued by guilt anytime I see an elderly man,
like the one who couldn't walk and we rolled onto a stretcher, told the Iraqi police to take him away.
I feel guilt anytime
I see a mother with her children like the one who cried hysterically and screamed
that we were worse than Saddam as we forced her from her home.
I feel guilt anytime I see a young girl like the one I grabbed by the arm and dragged into the street.

We were told we were fighting terrorists, but the real terrorist was me and the real terrorism is this occupation.
Racism within the military has long been an important tool to justify the destruction and occupation of another country.
It has long been used to justify the killing, subjugation, and torture of another people.
Racism is a vital weapon deployed by this government.
It is a more important weapon than a rifle, a tank, a bomber or a battleship.
It is more destructive than an artillery shell, or a bunker buster, or a tomahawk missile.
While all of those weapons are created and owned by this government, they are harmless without people willing to use them.

Those who send us to war do not have to pull a trigger or lob a mortar round.
They do not have to fight the war.
They merely have to sell the war.
They need a public who is willing to send their soldiers into harm's way and they need soldiers who are willing to kill or be killed without question.
They can spend millions on a single bomb, but that bomb only becomes a weapon when the ranks in the military are willing to follow orders to use it.
They can send every last soldier anywhere on earth, but there will only be a war if soldiers are willing to fight,
and the ruling class:
the billionaires who profit from human suffering care only about expanding their wealth, controlling the world economy,
understand that their power lies only in their ability to convince us that war, oppression, and exploitation is in our interests.
They understand that their wealth is dependent on their ability to convince the working class to die to control the market of another country.
And convincing us to kill and die is based on their ability to make us think that we are somehow superior.
Soldiers, sailors, marines, airmen, have nothing to gain from this occupation.

The vast majority of people living in the US have nothing to gain from this occupation.
In fact, not only do we have nothing to gain, but we suffer more because of it.
We lose limbs, endure trauma, and give our lives.
Our families have to watch flag draped coffins lowered into the earth.
Millions in this country without healthcare, jobs, or access to education must watch this government squander over $450 million a day on this occupation.
Poor and working people in this country are sent to kill poor and working people in another country to make the rich richer,
and without racism soldiers would realize that they have more in common with the Iraqi people than they do with the billionaires who send us to war

I threw families onto the street in Iraq only to come home and find families thrown onto the street in this country in this tragic,
tragic and unneccesary forclosure crisis;
only to wake up and realize that our real enemies are not in some distant land.
But not people whose names we don't know, and cultures we don't understand.
The enemy is people we know very well and people we can identify.
The enemy is a system that wages war when it's profitable.
The enemy is the CEOs who lay us off our jobs when it's profitable;
it's the insurance companies who deny us health care when it's profitable;
it's the banks who take away our homes when it's profitable.
Our enemies are not 5000 miles away, they are right here at home.
If we organize and fight with our sisters and brothers, we can stop this war, we can stop this government, and we can create a better world"

I want to make something perfectly clear. In no way should anyone support, condone, or tolerate bullying. I assume we've all read the Amanda Todd story. This is an extreme example of the drastic effect bullying can have on a young persons' life.

That being said, I would like to make a request from all of you out there on dA, Tumblr, Facebook, etc.:

If you see bullying, please, for the love of god, report it. Better yet, why don't you try to comfort the victim. It's really incredible what just a few small words can mean to a tortured soul.

Oh, and one more thing: This deviation is far from "Brilliant" or "Smart". It's really nothing special.

Edit: Wow, 1500 views in two days? Thank you for taking an interest in this situation. And special thanks to all the people that faved. This Deviation may be no good, but thanks for that support too!

I wrote/drew it using coloured pencils, scanned it, then edited it in Abode PhotoShop for a neon effect.
I drew this after what happened between me and my parents (read more about that at [link]). The two people I thought I could rely on for support...turn on me, without even giving me a chance to explain myself properly.
After that, I realised how sick I was...
I'm sick of everyone I care about suddenly caring a little less about me because of one tiny, insignificant fact that I can't even help.
I'm sick of crying myself to sleep because of the daily abuse I receive from those closest to me.
I'm sick of feeling so goddam ISOLATED from everyone, just because of my sexual orientation.
I'm just sick of it all.

EDIT: xD This is my first polar bear and I had no background on a lot of the anatomical errors I made so I apologize but I know my errors! Haha ^-^;

*Also, for those who see this deviation any time before New Years of 2013- January 1, 2013- well know that if you submit your very own awareness art of polar bears during this month of December, then you are in for a chance at a month-long feature of your awareness work! So hurry for this chance!*

There are only 20,000-25,000 of these bears left in the wild...

And even fewer numbers as time passes

The Polar Ice Caps have been melting faster than anyone's anticipated in the past decade alone. This threatens many species of animals that live in the poles. Exactly how fast are they melting? Click to find out

One of the unfortunate list of animals who's existence is threatened is the Polar Bear. Although many might not give a second thought when looking at these animals, as formidable and threatening they may seem on the small scale compared to us, there numbers grow small in the big picture as their homelands wash away into the sea...

It might be hard to imagine a world without a particular species but this popular bear known for its white coloration and impressive size might just be one of those animals who centuries or even decades later, might not be around for future generations to see...

Main Threats
:bulletred: The melting ice caps have posed a threat to polar bears for many years now. Since this is a huge issue not many of us can directly contribute to fixing, it's also something that poses as a potential problem not easily corrected in the time needed to save the dying animals who are directly affected by them.

How You can Help
:bulletgreen: Going green is the easiest way for many- and most- people! From flipping the light switches off when you're not using them to conserving water when brushing your teeth and making sure to not let it just run while not in use- helping can be as easy as that! Because it's the unnatural resources we use that ultimately burn all the fossil fuels causing global warming!
:bulletgreen: There are countless organizations that help with animals like the Polar Bear! Whether you're old enough to work in the field or not, it's always great to learn more about them!

Picture Symbolism & Description:
Well haha I definitely spent a while making this and I do quite like the outcome though I'm not fully satisfied at hte final execution of the background and such but overall the concept I believe turned out the way I liked it to! The back part of the bear is meant to symbolize a sort of 'melting away' as its right foot has a chunk of it missing because I purposely made its hindquarters composed of well, glaciers in a sense. The front of the bear is meant to represent what we see and also what's slowly sapping out of the animal itself as a species- it's life. As for the 'stepping out' of the frame. Well, let's just say their fate is in our hands and they're doing their best at calling out for us and it is now our choice at what we can and will do to help.
