In a Little Girl's MindThere sits the girl with the things in her eyes
Monsters, destruction, and sweet butterflies
Hopscotch and daisies, surrounded by screams
Beautiful dresses now torn at the seams
Crayons and paintbrushes, villains and grins
Young, gladsome innocence, hatred and sins
Little red houses on roads left to fade
Gorgeous moonlight shining off of the blade
Blood pouring out as she cries her own name
Knowing she's forced to take each bit of blame
She could have stopped it and left it behind
All of these things in her troubled young mind
She could have saved them if she dared to try
Rather, though, she left herself there to die.
Now, others watch as she sits on the ground
Keeping their distance and letting her drown
In her own worries and things she won't tell
Waiting for her mind to kill her as well…

Thousand of kilometers apart, Sheriff (sheriffdesignstudio) and myself, (AlexandraSophie), met on deviantArt.
He lived in Sri Lanka, and me in France.
He spoke only English, and me only French.
We were from different continent, culture, religion...
But love was stronger than anything!
It was already almost 3 years ago that we exchanged our first comment,
He found my profile with this photo:
I could never have imagined, when I took this photo, so randomly the day of
his birthday but one year before we met (definitely a sign!)
as I was sitting in my backyard, playing with the camera with not any real intention,
that it would make me meet the perfectest prince charming,
who is now going to be the dad of a little baby, actually in a warm preparation in my tummy!
We fell in love at the first second we spoke to each others, and needed only a few days to make it official,
it was the July 4th, 2008. He just turned 17, and I was about to turn 16.

The Art of Llama TradingI had been pondering about doing this type of journal for a bit of time since we changed our comment rules recently, and the complaints about people not returning llamas has continued. Sadly, we can't exactly keep track of over 20,000 members and keep our sanity. We already have llamastats for our actual members, but people do not need to be members to comment on our comments section. The Art of Llama Trading4 years ago in Personal More Like This
So, here are some tips to help you look for those who obviously do not return their llamas. Keep in mind, these are tips and does not absolutely guarantee llama returns. Before You Give a Llama:You can check out their actual given/received badge information. Simply use this URL and replace 'username' with the person's deviantart profile name: http://username.deviantart.com/badges/

Ookami (A deified wolf in Japanese Mythology)There are some animals and creatures in Japanese mythology. Almost of them are servants of gods. For example, foxes are servants of Inari-shin, who is a god of harvest.Ookami (A deified wolf in Japanese Mythology)3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Only two creatures took part in a category of gods -that is to say, wolves and snakes-.
Chichibu had been the most active area of a faith to wolves.
Long time ago, Yamato-Takeru-no-Mikoto [日本武尊] (who is one of heroes in Japanese mythology) went on an expedition. But when he went through in the deep forest of Chichibu [秩父] mountains, it was in a dense fog and he lost his way. Then, one white wolf appeared in front of him. The white wolf walked a head of him and guided to the outside of the forest. He escaped the deep forest at last.
Yamato-Takeru-no-Mikoto greatly appreciated a help of a white wolf. He constructed a shrine. The wolf which helped him was joined in a group of gods. The god of the wolf was called "Ooguchi-no-Magami [大口真神]". (It means "a g
Aditi's (lovetodeviate) Resource ListAditi (lovetodeviate) was a great (brilliant, amazing, talented, much-loved, etc. etc.) literature GM here at dA a while back. She recently deactivated her account (her own choice, and one that I respect) which meant her journals were gone, and along with them her famous literature resource list. I asked her if there was a back-up floating around and she obligingly emailed me the latest one. So here it is, reproduced for your viewing pleasure.Aditi's (lovetodeviate) Resource List5 years ago in Personal More Like This
Just to be clear I had absolutely nothing to do with this; all thanks must go to Aditi. Unfortunately you can't leave a message on a deactivated page. However, if you use this resource, I'm sure an appreciative tweet in the direction of blottingpaper wouldn't go astray.
I will do my best to maintain this list, so if anyone finds any high quality resources that they feel should be added here, send me a note and I'll do so.

Two weeks easily passed by as every bunny in the brigade finally finished packing up their belongings. Some of those who conveniently finished early had been waiting for further announcements, and some of those who rushed last minute thankfully made it in time. A few hours earlier, you received instructions from some of the Overcards to gather up with all the packed boxes at the F-rank lounge. It wasn't long before a huge mountain of piled up boxes filled more than half of the space in the area and left the rest of the brigade members cramming for their own standing spot. This isn't going to go well, obviously. After realizing how much 'more than expected' the quantities of the boxes were, you were then told to carry the smaller and lighter boxes along with you and leave th
BHBI have to say, though, I think Fuhrer-Glasses kind of had it comming. The thing is, I also used to be a BHB admin. Now, I don't do the kind of things the BHB (usually erroneously) were accused of. It would be my hope that I wouldn't have also found myself being told I needed an attitude adjustment, especially given I would often have discussions with Fuhrer-Glasses over my disagreement of his methods.
I don't know what, if anything, the other admins actually did. I realise I'm not neccesarily in posession of all the facts.
Given that, I try to have faith that when

So you all saw how upset the internet was about SOPA and PIPA. We showed enough feeling over them that they were taken back by their sponsors.
But did you know that a similar thing has already been signed by the USA without even telling the citizens?
Meet ACTA, the parent of SOPA.
This bit of international legislature has many similarities with SOPA, Including control of internet users and a la k of online privacy. Only, because it's a trade agreement, officials didn't seem to think it was necessary to get a feel for the opinions of the people this agreement would actually be affecting. The United States has been working on this baby since 2006, and has ALREADY SIGNED this agreement. I bet you didn't know that. Here's what it's all about.
Poland only signed this agreement today and there are protests in the streets. We should follow their example! Write letters to your representatives! Make phonecalls! Hold a sign and yell at people! Do

InbreedingIf I hear another don't inbreed, it's unhealthy I am going to slap someone.Inbreeding9 months ago in Personal More Like This
This is based on what I have learned and seen. You don't have to agree; however, this is a somewhat persuasive piece. Please do not read if you're going to get really mad.
Why is it unhealthy? Why does it cause illness? Why do you think that? I wish I could say I have received one educated answer to these, but I have not.
What is inbreeding?
"The mating of closely-related individuals, as cousins, sire-daughter, brother-sister, or self-fertilized plants, which tends to increase the number of individuals that are homozygous for a trait and therefore increases the appearance of recessive traits." -Definition by Dictionary.com
Rules of Inbreeding
It increases homozygosity.
It brings out what already exists that may be hidden in prior individuals.
It does not create anything.

'For exposure' - a warning to artistsI ran into this Twitter page a few days ago. It's a collection of real comments that artists get all the time asking them to work for free, or, as these people often prefer to say, "for exposure".'For exposure' - a warning to artists3 years ago in Personal More Like This
People like this are usually trying to guilt-trip artists into taking on massive projects for no pay, claiming it'll be good advertisement or that they'll get paid once the project becomes a success. The truth is, the chances of getting picked up by a major studio are extremely small. The so-called free advertisement the artist may or may not end up getting is usually not worth the effort.
Just to give you a taste of the disrespect for an artist's time and energy that some people have, here's a choice quote:
"Need Animator-I have a story that's 4 seasons long, 10 episodes each. looking for maximum quality. No pay. I will warn that I am very picky"
Does this person even realize the amount of work that goes into animation? Depending on the
Is Reference Bad?I feel like I've addressed this before at some point, in some other journal, but I find myself either discussing this with people a lot, or coming across people who on their work proudly claim to have "used no reference."Is Reference Bad?4 years ago in Personal More Like This
The biggest problem, and misconception, regarding references is that people feel like it's cheating or that it somehow cheapens their work. While I can understand the sense of accomplishment coming from using no reference to finish a painting or drawing, people who consistently do it are only hurting themselves in the long run. So in short, no, reference isn't bad.
Artists have been using reference since the days of the old masters. They would reference life, whether it be landscapes, objects on a table, or models standing in a studio. They would even reference their own sketches or other people's work in order create convincing paintings.
For some reason, a lot of people today seem to think that in order to be a good artist, they have to be able to do things without

Parody vs Pastiche and other Humorous ExamplesJust for fun I thought I'd do a rundown of the most common forms of humor, their definitions, and examples. This is not a complete list by any means, but they are a list of many forms of humor and literature discourse which often get confused of mixed up.Parody vs Pastiche and other Humorous Examples2 years ago in Personal More Like This
An imitative work created to mock, comment on or trivialize an original work, its subject, author, style, or some other target, by means of satiric or ironic imitation.
Example: The movie "Airplane" is a parody of 1970's disaster movies. Many of Weird Al's music videos are parodies of other more famous music videos.
A work of visual art, literature, or music that imitates the style or character of the work of one or more other artists. Unlike parody, pastiche celebrates, rather than mocks, the work it imitates.
Example: The movie "Super 8" is a pastiche of 1980's adventure films, specifically imitating the style of Stephen Spielberg's early career,
How tentaculas are madePeople keep asking about Love and Tentacles, but I'm sorry to say that comic is as good as dead. I might draw a picture once in a while because Frida can be fun to draw, but I don't even think about LaT most of the time, unlike my other comics which enter my head daily. How tentaculas are made3 years ago in Personal More Like This
But people are apparently dying to know if Tom and Frida ever had kids, and if it could even be done. So I'll give you and explanation on that.
Tentaculas have reproductive tentacles around their waist (the thin pink ones that gets thick when they get aroused). Males and females rub them against each other and release semen and eggs into water (in these modern times its usually a bathtub unless they're hippies). They are left to float around until the fertilized eggs hatch and the tiny young eats the un-fertilized eggs. Then they move on to swallowing each other, until only one is left. Sounds unpleasant, but that is why tentaculas in general are very healthy and handicaps are almost unheard of unless they get inj
