Time Is The Cure
Right hand of destruction
Left hand of creation
It's a never ending cycle
A fatal revival caught in a downward spiral
I tear down reality’s mask
As I build up a truth to give hope a chance
The veiled darkness decays
The guiding light fades
I let go of an old pain
As new tears wash it away
The sun always rises
The moon always sets
The rain subsides
The storm is put to rest
Clouds confide / Memories detest
Skies collide / Cries confessed
Light shines / Dark regrets
Pain hides / Peace professed
A new day awaits
An old night forgotten
Tomorrow I shall awake
To cradle what remains unbroken
I can't erase my mistakes
But I can't let them define my fate
There's always control
There's always faith to hold
Opposites are locked together
I am the sinner; I am the confessor
With time- comes change
Agony and serenity dawn a n

Rain Of Thunder
I took the gift of light for granted-
Assuming I would always see
But when my world darkened-
My fears took the best of me
And I would give anything
Just to see a spark or a glow
But my faith was also fading
Withering away like my hope
The only sight I had
Was beyond the walls in my mind
But they were just figments from the past
A false savior that I could only hide behind
The shadows were becoming my mask
It was shielding me from living my life
The skies rumbled ominously / Like cries echoing sorrowfully
I felt rain falling endlessly / Like infinite liquid apologies
Reality shed the blackness / The roars fiercely pierced
My eyes ignited the darkness / The heavens suddenly burst
What once was lost
Can also be found
For effects without a cause
Nothing would ever be returned
Our paths will once again cross
For destiny is bound
The lowest of the low-
I have seen

What is this long-lost memory inside?
Where oceans turn; what have we left behind
With star-burned wings out above the sky.
The sleeping sons are lovingly left to lie...
A thousand tears you've cried for all,
Now its time for you to fall!
Will you open up the door,
To the future we ignore?
Are you simply lying broken,
From the memory awoken;
Are you simply living lies,
Bitter taste with ropes you tie...
And the world will soon forget.
Fill my heart with this regret?
For the victims written in stone.
Unspoken sin you now atone...
Yeah I've seen this world where we livin' in pain,
Wrap my body round with chain.
Now we both know we be broken;
Give this man his smokin' token.
Held up guns with both his hands;
Not a boy he's cause he's a man.
Order comes by a suit and hand.
Will you flee or will you stand?
This is a memory of our war,
Of all the things that we can't ignore.
And staying blind to the cries of pain...
Will lonely ashes be what remai

Dripping with blame
Drowning from hate
I felt your anger
I held my pieces together
I always wait for the right moment
To finally break down
I need the pain to flow perfect
To let it all out
I'm reaching for my tainted core / I won't let you corrupt me anymore
You will not be a part of me / This is not how it's going to be
I always wait for the oncoming storm
That's the only time
Endure it all until the promised calm
Just to call it mine
I am myself again
It's gone with the rain
I am my own protection
I can rise above the destruction

The Misadventures of ChenbeardA humorous adventure filled with accents, jokes and every single reference we can possible get away with! The Misadventures of Chenbeard7 months ago in Short Stories More Like This
Story One: He’s a Pirate After All…
…and so it came to pass that the once great pirate captain, Chenbeard the Mighty, found himself adrift upon the lonely currents of the ocean. Having been exiled from his crew, mostly from drinking too much of the rum and stealing underwear, the captain found his fate taking a rather sad turn. He had been knocked unconscious, bound and gagged, then tossed unceremoniously into one of the many dinghies that adorned the sides of the Sangue Padre.
Ordinarily, an exiled captain would find himself tossed into swirling currents of the sea. It was not uncommon for many of them to lose their lives in this fashion, but those within the crew that remained loyal to him, voted instead for a more humane end to his career.
Thus we begin the tale of Chenbeard the pirate, once a great man and now a mere hobo of the seve

The Real WritersThe Real Writers:The Real Writers10 months ago in Free Verse More Like This
There are those who sit with their laptops and tablets,
Clothed in a scarf and an artistic hat of some sort.
They ponder; leaving a stack of books beside them,
Sipping their decaf as though they are literature personified.
What works do they prepare, other than blatant copies,
Perhaps a half-baked romance designed to woo a lady.
So convinced are they, of their own aptitude;
They are blinded by the beams of their burgeoning ego.
For the writer is not the man who is tapping away at keys,
He is not the man fervently reading with lensless glasses.
He is not the hipster debating ancient literature.
For he is a monster, wearing human skin.
He is the deranged madman, eccentric, uncanny.
He is the one who sits catatonic;
An entire world of fantasy playing in his mind.
He has gone through millions of scenes,
Thousands of scenarios, hundreds of plots
And dozens of characters.
He is not the man you expect him to be,
For a true writer is utterly WEIRD.

No matter the years that pass me by,
It seems I am forever trapped.
For when it comes to deceiving myself,
I'm afraid I'm rather apt.
In the end the truth which I sought to avoid, is now knocking at my door...
A rabid rat that chews at me; one I can't ignore.
And though I might have grown this body, from the lonely years I've seen.
I'm afraid I can only chase the shadow, of my dearest Angeline.

I will never live up to any other expectations
I will only just reach the place in life that's destined
Never again will I be a victim of impossible outcomes
Never again will I allow my self-respect to be disgraced and overcome
I am a prisoner no more
Discrimination became the martyr
I had to put an end to this war
I will not be walked on like I had been before
The future of a fearless life is what I now strive for
The source of my resolve has been built into my core
I believe what's right / To live my life
I'll reach for the light / And shine so bright
There's no limit to the sky / This smile never felt so fine
I never thought it'd be mine / So I'll take it as a sign
Time heals all wounds
It may get dark but the sun will rise soon
Hearts will fall sick and spirits will feel blue
But after the storm our pride will become immune

This is what I will always be / The vanquisher of your agony
A day like today
You'll be okay

Doubts will ignite

This is a different level of fear
It's wounding my truth and morality
It's strong enough to bring me here
On the edge of life- peering over to serenity
It's not impossible to grasp
But it's typical to assume
The last breath is the fact
That after death- peace will follow soon
Countless flashing memories
Ready to be set free
From this skin of...treachery
My scars peel off
Erased from my sight
The remains become soft
So this is what...innocence feels like
Destiny is somehow connected
Fate deems to be natural
The circle of the two is perfected
The beginning to the end is...peaceful
I offer and accept my own form of mercy
Before I miss out on forgiving the vulnerable side of me
Splitting and fusing fragments of calming memories
I would like to believe my life was somehow worthy

Faces Of Mine
A smile once so true
It changed direction over time
I knew it was there because of you
But it was just belief based from a lie
Hope cannot be granted
And then stripped away
You have left my core tainted
With these wicked games that you play
May it be a lesson
Or turn it into fact and truth
Love won't be as important
As I use these scars as my proof
These eyes were once so hopeful
It was considered the rise after the fall
But my tears became unfaithful
As pain plunged out of my skull
No passion for the heart / No light for the dark
No love for the liars / No guilt for the defilers
No truth for the corrupted / No solace for the hatred
No burden for the betrayers / No shame for the usurpers
An innocent outlook on life
Once so pure and whole
But now it's twisted to survive
There is no caring anymore
Forced to adapt to cruelty
I injected ice into my veins
I changed my perception of reality
I will be the one nightmare you have made
Human nature is to blame

I prepared this year, as I always do: A chilled bottle of wine hidden out of sight and a pair of large candles; both of which would last the night.
I would then take a seat on the sparse wooden floor of my storage room and wait. Always I would end up waiting as the minutes ticked on by, for my companion was never early nor was she ever late. Indeed, she would only arrive precisely when she was meant to.
I peered into the shadows as time wore on by. The flickering light of the candles did little to aid my vision, filling it with the blissful pirouettes of the dancing shadows. I was always nervous during these times and indeed, I had reason to be. Most would have lived their lives without a spiritual encounter. Most should be glad to be a part of the boring world. For in a world without incid

I remember this tale, from a time of brutality; from whence I would have gladly murdered a soul. For the fragile seek to transcend their pain, but ever are they poisoned by it.
This man I remember had called himself ‘Mighty’ and I watched from the stands as he delivered his speech. “You are the fools!” he cried to the audience, “for even as you mock me, I am whole. Through tragedies I've suffered, through pain I persevered. I am a greater man and your words may never hurt me.”
Fool, is what I thought, for he seemed to take pride in this display. The crowd cheered him on, patting him on the back, but to me he lacked conviction. For I saw through the sham in his boast and I knew that his demons would haunt him again. This time a little earlier than needed.
“Yes my friends, I am a damaged man. I have been broken before and my spirit shattered,” he continued to ramble, as I drew close to him.

A demand to be recognised, yet soon to be silenced;

As I stand above this dying creature;
The flicker of life soon fading from their eyes.
I smile and whisper a word of parting,

We can get past this because true love actually exists.
