Why we like Warhammer 40,000So I get asked this question a lot, for some reason. You might go 'Oh my god, I can't believe how nerdy this is', but Here's why, as told by an anonymous member of /tg/.
"It is the scale and depth. Anything can happen, and it does, all day, every day, at 250% maximum awesome. It is the over-the-top-80's, super-gritty-90's, and depth-demanding-2K's all blended together into one multimedia story. It harkens to the classic tales of the Gothic Age, the epic fables of Northern Europe, the darkness and detached sentimentalism of WW1, the corrupt tales of the urban underworld, the mind-warping fantasies of Lovecraft, and all while maintaining a sense of dark humor and romantic heroism."
And that just about sums it up, really.
Stay awesome, everyone.
Into the Living Engine 1/XThe videograph began with a clattering and a rolling of the tape, the small black-and-white screen briefly showing a few numbers before cutting away to a vast, open plain, with a cloud of dust being kicked up by a brightly-coloured buggy, which soon came to the foreground and passed the camera. With a tinny voice full of vigor and pep narrating, and with a dramatic musical flourish of saxophones and trumpets sounding out, the videograph came to life.Into the Living Engine 1/X1 year ago in Short Stories More Like This

The videograph depicted a busy maintenance garage where sacks of letters were being loaded onto more buggies, with others being assembled repaired and being driven out.

The man stepped forward and looked at the former guardsmen of the 7th Görlitz Light Infantry.
Janus Leech, self styled high Lord cleric of Blackharbor, slammed his staff of office on the patterned floor and began his sermon..”Today I read from the book of Saint Praxides my brothers and sisters....His Divine Majesty looked upon his loyal servants, saw the look of righteous fury in their eyes and saw that it was good...go forth and slay mine enemies” he intoned
He put away the sacred tome and searched the faces of the eager guardsmen....
“Do the Emperors blessed work...Go forth and destroy in the name of his chosen son, Marcellus Thaine!”
There was a murmur of ascent from the assembled....
All was going to plan just as the Cardinal had told him it would but now came the hardest part..
“Go forth with your Urgash brethren and bring light unto Arkangel, for it is no

Corporal Gado and Zormak, his Urgashi counterpart, couldn't believe their luck. Having been out scouting into enemy territory the last thing they expected to find was this picturesque farm hidden away in the hills.
Both he and Zormak had watched the farm for awhile and when they saw no threat had calmly walked in through the front door.
The family within had at first been frightened but thanks to Gado's unassuming manner and wide smile had calmed down somewhat.
Gado looked at the family...a couple with a gaggle of youngsters milling about.
The youngest, a pretty little girl, was fascinated by Zormaks mask. Zormak ever the happy sort, was lifting it and then quickly snapping it back down..
“Peeki-Buu” Zormak chuckled.
The girl squealed in delight every time he did it.
“Nice place you have here” said Gado
The couple both nodded...more at ease now with their surprise visitors.
“Would you like some food or drink?

He looked around quickly and realized that he had been dreaming again....he was safe, he was strong...what was it his old Commander used to say?...ah yes...everything is rosey in the garden..Hah! precious little roseys, gardens or even old commanders for that matter!
Thaine chuckled at his small joke. Gallows humor...quite dark...gallows....hmmm...bodies swinging in the breeze....what a soothing sound it made...
He roused himself from his reverie and looked over at his immaculate combat armor. It was quite a change from the normal drab garb he was used to wearing but one had to inspire those who followed you and what better than a shining semi-metallic figure.....some would say heroic but soon many more would say deadly.
Well it was nearly 'T' hour...T for tribulation...Thaine had of course chose it himself.
He quickly donned his wondrous mixture of combat armor and me

Blackharbor (originally called Se'rath) was named and founded by Marcellus Thaine.
Thaine was the second in command of the 7th Görlitz Light Infantry........an expeditionary Imperial Guard regiment.
It was sent to try and pacify the warring factions of Arkangel but mostly to root out and destroy suspected Chaos arch-enemy soldiers and cultists.
Due to either damage from a Warp storm or activity from the arch-enemy (still unknown which) their troopship the already damaged Acta Sanctorum was destroyed leaving them no offworld contact.
General Damus, Thaines immediate superior, was killed soon after and Thaine took control of the operation.
Prosecuting a war of attrition against the arch-enemy and its cohorts, the enemy was finally routed and surrounded.
Due to low ammo and the high casualty rate, Thaine offered the enemy the choice of an unconditional surrender or death...to his surprise the arch-enemy warri

Major Lucius Greene, second in command of the 'Wolves of Thaine' paced around the command
tent. He was still tired from the forced march but tireder still from those dreams... strange
dreams..most nights they came now....dreams of the mighty God-Emperor resplendent in blood
red armour...pointing to him and telling him to slay in his name.
The dreams had at first troubled him and he sought out one of the numerous 'Blood Priests'.
The priest said ecstatically that it was a most wondrous blessing from the Blood Emperor!
Greene had simply nodded but couldn't shake the nagging doubts and the feeling of wrongness.
He quickly snapped out of his reverie because time was of the essence. It had been over 30
minutes since he had sent the Blood Priest, Kolash, down to the settlement to give the
ultimatum to them.
Now it was time to see what the day would bring...
He walked out of the command tent and was immediately greeted by the rythmic slamming of

Kren Mochta, Cardinal of Blackharbor, looked out towards the assembled priests of the 'Blood Emperor'
The words always brought a secret smile to his lips. The very thought that once loyal and fervent servants of the accursed Corpse God could be swayed to the worship of Khorne..
Of course the Imperials didn't know they were becoming Khornate...the fools thought the mighty Khorne was an avatar of the Emperor...subservient and an instrument of his will!
Desperate people will believe almost anything...show them a few parlour tricks and mess with their dreams....it was all so easy....
So worship the Emperor....worship his avatar...worship both....blur the lines.....
Mochta was suffused with pride how his ideas had turned so many and blurred everything....black and white had become grey and all would be eventually red....blood red.
Breaking the mind of the leading Imperial ecclesiarch, Janus Leach, had been a massive victory...converts are so ma
Cyberbullying and Your DeviationsThe term "cyberbullying" was first coined and defined by Canadian educator and anti-bullying activist Bill Belsey, as "the use of information and communication technologies to support deliberate, repeated, and hostile behavior by an individual or group that is intended to harm others."Cyberbullying and Your Deviations3 years ago in Personal More Like This
While the actions which make up cyberbullying can vary depending on who you are talking with or what website you are on at the time, as far as we here at deviantART are concerned the act of cyberbullying involves a range of behavior from hostile and aggressive communications, to threats, sexual remarks, hate speech, ganging up on victims by making them the subject of ridicule or humiliation.
The practice of cyberbullying is also not limited to children, when perpetrated by adults toward adults these same behaviors are sometimes referred to as cyberstalking or cyberharassment but regardless of what name you attach to it, cyberbullying has grown into an increasing problem since the behavior was first ident

As soon as she passed through the Rock of Kuthain once more, Heavyn promptly had the X-blade connect with the others.
"HEAVYN!" shouted a chorus of voices in her head, relief resounding through that one word.
Wincing at the mental shout, Heavyn quickly shook her head and replied, "Hey, guys, sorry I didn't contact you earlier. Did I miss anything?"
"Besides Nasuada being furious at you for leaving and everyone else getting worried about you? Nope," Riku replied.
As soon as he finished, Sora broke in, "Where have you been? We've all tried contacting you multiple times, but each time the X-blade wouldn't patch us through, saying it couldn't even get through to you!"
"We're at a place called Vroengard," answered the X-blade.
"Vroengard?" came Kairi's voice.
Heavyn answered, "It was the home of the Dragon Riders before Galbatorix came on the scene."
"What are you doing there, of all places?"
"This was where the X-blade brought me. I

Siege of Aquila: The Lion StalksDusk crept in, its fingers strangling Arkangel’s sun from the heavens as it lit up with sporadic flickers of man-made light: Basilisks of the Dominion sent streaks of death arcing, screaming across the darkening sky unto the defending Alutians. Blinding las-fire whizzed with stinging cracks all over the battlefield, particularly to the southeast of the fort, where the red lines obscured all else in a hail that was equal parts desperation and contempt.Siege of Aquila: The Lion Stalks1 year ago in Settings More Like This
About a dozen lines of hastily dug trenches were all that stood before the massive chink in the fort’s armour: the Breach, a fitting name for a wound that had never, will never heal. Half of them were already flying Dominion banners. The Alutians’ luck was being bled white as black and red-clad troopers advanced systematically and inexorably forward. Though each defender had pledged to take as many lives with his own, the ratio had been rather equal so far; the Dominion was gaining ground, and fast
