Fantastic Stock and Where to Find It - Feature 23I've been making a collection of some of the brilliant stock artistsFantastic Stock and Where to Find It - Feature 236 months ago in Art Features More Like This
works that I have come across. It started off as stock I can't provide
myself so I look for other peoples so I can suggest them. The way I
choose is quite odd, when I see a stock image I have an instant image in
my head of what I could do or create out of that piece of stock. The
image also has to be crystal clear and easily altered.
Anyway, Check them out, I'm sure you'll agree, just click on their deviation.Texture :

PE Interview: Stocker, Piratelotus-stock!:iconPirateLotus-stock: ^PirateLotus-Stock is the account of Erin, Piraty Stock Mistress! As part of our Stock & Resources Project Educate week, we scuttled her ship and tied her to the mast til she answered our questions!PE Interview: Stocker, Piratelotus-stock!1 year ago in Resources More Like This
What were your first artistic influences, and did they have a hand in the development of your resources?
My dad majored in art history, and back when he was in school in the dark ages, they had hardback textbooks, so he actually kept them. I used to look at them, especially his Rembrandt book. Rembrandt is still my favorite painter. I don't think that consciously influences my stock, but maybe on a more sub-conscious level...I don't much like modern themes; I tend to want to do stuff like pirates and Renaissance costumes when I shoot model stock. Olden timey stuff.![]()
Whats one of the most rewarding aspects for you as a resource provider?
Probably the same thing that it is for most stockers: seeing the amazing things people do w

Why you feature stolen work?!?!Lately there seem to have been a few myths flying around in particular with regards to how we as Community Volunteers, give Daily Deviations. Many people seem to think that we sit at our desks in dark little rooms and let out evil laughter whilst we purposefully feature stolen work. The dark rooms and laughter - well I can't say yes or no on that one! But I can promise you it's not our intent to give exposure to people who have stolen work. I recently featured a piece of work that turned out to be stolen. However I went into extensive conversations with the artist before I featured it, and with added metadata and dates, it's difficult to know where to draw the line. I've given people the benefit of the doubt before - and it's worked out nicely as their work has been legitimate. Below are some comments I have seen being thrown around the past few days - and hopefully an attempt to bust the myth. Why you feature stolen work?!?!6 months ago in Community Relations More Like This

Project Educate Stock & Resources DD CriteriaStock & Resources Daily Deviations. What We look for, and what you should look for as well!Project Educate Stock & Resources DD Criteria1 year ago in Resources More Like This
Its a regular question, and something that the other Community Volunteers get asked about as well. So during Project Educate Stock & Resources week I'm going to try and lay out some of the reasons behind our choices.
Stock & Resources Daily Deviations, and how they are judged by the Community.
Dan has already touched on this touchy subject in his "Potential" Article here - The Potential of Stock
There is something fundamentally different about stock & resources DD's compared to all the other DD's from all the other galleries.
Stock & Resources are NOT finished artworks to be viewed as an end product.
We can't stress this enough!!!
The Stock Artist/Provider/Creator has not submitted this work becasue they think its absolutely perfect and they want to show it off, they subm

Becoming a Verified Safe Stock Resource ProviderEarlier we brought up the importance of providing valid and safe resources as stock providers. We are the front lines, so to speak, on ensuring the quality and validity of our resources. We mentioned in our last blog (which you can read below) about a way to become verified safe stock providers. There was a lot of positive feedback on the idea. The question was how to prevent those who would abuse a stamp from using it.Becoming a Verified Safe Stock Resource Provider5 months ago in Personal More Like This
~hyenacub-stock suggested creating an alternate group that only certain members can join as a method for preventing the "posers." *EveLivesey suggested the name "Safe Stock" for the project. So, by combining the two ideas, we now have a sister group called #Safe-Stock-Resources. I've spent some time this evening fleshing out the group page, and I believe that it's a good start.
#Safe-Stock-Resources can be that marker, the seal of approval, on great and trustworthy stock resources. If you would like to become a part of it, let me know, and I will send yo

Texture Your World ContestTell us the story of your world in textures!Texture Your World Contest4 months ago in Resources More Like This
We are surrounded 24 hours a day by objects that have texture, they may be smooth or bobbly, old or new, bold, bright, shiny or dull. You might see a texture every day and never notice it until you start looking. Do you sit at a desk that's textured, or pass an interesting tree on the way to work or school?
We want you, in the form of a triptych (thats 3 images forming a larger image see example here - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triptych ) to tell us the story of your textured world. Each individual texture should stand on its own, both as a useful resource and as a cohesive part of the whole story. What story you tell through your texture triptych is up to you - but they must be textures that tell a story of your world in some way.
There are 3 categories for this contest, each of which you can submit to twice.

Arthur RackhamArthur Rackham was born on the 19th of September 1867 in London and died of cancer at the age of 71 in Limpsfield, Surrey. He's considered to be one of the most recognisable artists of the Golden Age of Illustration in Europe, along with John Bauer and Theodor Kittelsen.Arthur Rackham2 months ago in Traditional More Like This
He was born in a big family - it's enough to mention that he had 11 siblings, but surely plenty of you knows that it wasn't quite unusual in the XIX century and earlier. We know that in his youth, Rackham's health was rather poor - hence he travelled to Australia with his two aunts to improve his condition.
After he returned, he began studying at the Lambeth School of Art. In 1892 he started working as a r

PE Daily Deviations- Presentation of your workHello all!PE Daily Deviations- Presentation of your work9 months ago in Projects More Like This
Well we’ve had a fascinating week so far; a week which hopefully has provided some insight not only to the process of DD selection but helped you understand what we look for in DDs as CVs. As we draw to the end of this week, I bring you an article which will whet your Saturday with thoughts that don’t just apply to the DD feature, but something which should be a consideration to everything you submit to dA. I am talking about deviation presentation.
Why is Presentation important?
Art isn’t always about just being “creative”. There are techniques and skills which develop over time which contribute to the quality of the work you produce and alongside this comes a developed understanding of good presentation.
Good presentation could be anything from cropping a photograph, to spell checking your literature. These are common sense things that in the rush of wanting to show off your creativity can sometimes be
Project Educate: Stock & Resources, Final WordThank You.Project Educate: Stock & Resources, Final Word1 year ago in Resources More Like This
Thanks for being part of an amazing week everyone! We appreciate all the support and love we’ve received from our articles.
Our mission was to ‘re-educate’ on some issues and to serve a reminder to folks about guidelines that need to be followed! Hopefully you guys now have a clearer understanding of the issues mentioned.
Let’s hope so anyway!
We also hope you enjoyed our interviews with some amazing artists and stockers! we had fun doing those!
We wrote a few special articles because Project Educate allows us to get even closer with you guys and reach a wider audience. The Potential Article was to show you guys what’s so great about stock! and to help open your mind and raise awareness of what stock is really about and why stock is essential to so many artists. We also highlighted other essential topics like, atmosphere and lighting, adequately crediting your resources, keywords, categories, and miscats.
FAQ #217 - Learn It Love ItWhat are "Stock and Resources" and can I use them in my submissions?FAQ #217 - Learn It Love It3 months ago in Personal More Like This
Stock images or program resources are materials created with the express intent that they may be used by other artists in their own artwork. Use of these materials are subject to the artist's license, which may or may not require the payment of fees and the documentation of sources used.
The use of such materials at deviantART is only permissible if you document your source material (attribution) and can provide a link, along with proof that you have satisfied the terms set in the artist's license. We strongly recommend that you credit your resource provider(s).
All artwork submitted to deviantART that uses third party source material must follow the license set by the provider. As the creator of the source material, the provider is able to set specific licenses for different materials and so you must check that you are following the license for each used material.

=PattiPix was too kind to suggest me for a DD and ^PirateLotus-Stock to feature it, and I greatly appreciate them both!
Most of the feedback has been great! Lots of faves and downloads, and several nice comments. However, it seems like there is always at least one person who has to say something contrary on DD's...
Please understand! This account is a STOCK account. I do not submit anything to this gallery that is not stock (deviantID's aside). That means that nothing in my gallery is meant to be seen as a work of art. My stock photos are not a finished work! If you want to see what Photgraphy I do dabble in, look at my main art account.

Though the shoot will not happen until it warms up a bit more out here and nature starts to get nice and green, probably the end of April or the beginning of May, we are planning a big co-op stock shoot with ^PirateLotus-Stock! It's going to be great fun.
But, with so much lead time on the shoot, that means we have more than enough time to plumb the depths of your desires when it comes to setting up the scenarios.
Here's the parameters we have to go off of. The shoot will be medieval themed. We have a couple recurve bows that we'll be using to hit on the hunters / hunting aspects. I don't anticipate being able to spend any of the shoot inside, so we're definitely going to explore making camp type stuff. We may have a medieval looking tent to play with, we may not. We have bits
