Hello, vanilleass here for some updates! As you may have noticed, the group is ungoing some changes! I'm currently working on the front page while Spashai is working the backgrounds for the Gallery. Other than that, I'll also be making a new journal skin for the group and removing some journal entries. The VIP Membership program will be stopped as it is barely used so anyone who still has a running membership will be given 1000 ED. The Trading /Offers/Breeding journal will be separated into three parts soon to better organize each part. Since it does get confusing. shadowthecat971 has been working on coming up with new Challenges for everyone to earn more ED! ^^ Lastly, I'll be removing the Project Unknown Event Journals as we dont need them anymore.
Onto events, this year we'll be holding two Halloween events (since I LOVE Halloween). One event will be a pet designing event where one has to design a

i have always been a huge fan of art books. in fact i would say that 99 percent of my bookshelves are filled with art books ranging from animation to fashion design and everything visual in between. it was partly why i am so excited to have produced my own book, Walking Your Octopus. one of my goals with this project was to create an art book that was also an art object and this vision guided every aspect of the book's production. as we all know ebooks are becoming more and more popular and i struggled with how my book which was a celebration of all things analog might fit into the digital space. fortunately my very creative friend eric, had the solution...Aereoscope.

Thomas and John Knoll: the brothers behind the magic
Back in 1987, Thomas Knoll was working on his Ph.D. thesis as part of his studies on image processing at the University of Michigan. He had bought a new Apple Mac Plus to help with the thesis, but was frustrated by the fact the computer wouldn't display greyscale images on the monochrome monitor. This issue wouldn't stop him and so he decided to write his own code in order to be able to see the images in his new computer.
His brother John was coincidentally working for ILM (Industrial Light and Magic) on image processing at the time and discovered Thomas' code during a holiday visit. Clearly impressed by his brother's achievements, both began collaborating on a bigger applic
Let me love you.Today I talked with a woman who's daughter I knew since we were kids. This girl was always introverted, really shy. And half the time I figured people didn't even notice she was there. But I noticed. We became this awkward sort of 'friends' our sophomore year of high school all the way up to graduation.Let me love you.1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Her mother told me today that she is still backwards and pretty awkward around people but she's getting better. I assured her that I tried to bring her daughter out of her shell, and she smiled and said to me, "Oh I know—she talked about you everyday after school. Kayla did this, Kayla said that. Kayla brought me into this prank…"
( Sidenote: We taped printed out pictures of kittens all over our history teachers classroom.)
I always figured she thought I was annoying and merely put up with me.
But now, all I can think is, "Wow—someone thought I was awesome enough to tell the closest people to them about. MEEEEE."
I am nothing special but this ma

looking back to about a year ago i had doodled a very rough sketch in my sketch book of a girl walking an octopus. and when i say rough i mean rough. the sketch itself was nothing more than a study of contrasting silhouettes. i was drawn to the play between a very rigid character and a squiggly one.
i had forgotten about that sketch until i heard about a steampunk t-shirt design for www.welovefine.com. i thought that this design might have a chance so i went ahead and finished it off. well it got alot of attention and i am happy to say that it won the competition. the shirt started to sell

Parody vs Pastiche and other Humorous ExamplesJust for fun I thought I'd do a rundown of the most common forms of humor, their definitions, and examples. This is not a complete list by any means, but they are a list of many forms of humor and literature discourse which often get confused of mixed up.Parody vs Pastiche and other Humorous Examples1 year ago in Personal More Like This
An imitative work created to mock, comment on or trivialize an original work, its subject, author, style, or some other target, by means of satiric or ironic imitation.
Example: The movie "Airplane" is a parody of 1970's disaster movies. Many of Weird Al's music videos are parodies of other more famous music videos.
A work of visual art, literature, or music that imitates the style or character of the work of one or more other artists. Unlike parody, pastiche celebrates, rather than mocks, the work it imitates.
Example: The movie "Super 8" is a pastiche of 1980's adventure films, specifically imitating the style of Stephen Spielberg's early career,
Educating OurselvesThis journal contains a lot of potentially buzz-work things that could result in arguments from people who don't take the time to read my message. For example I mention Anita Sarkeesian, but I don't want people to start arguing against her points of view because that's NOT what this journal is about. So please, read carefully before you respond to help avoid knee-jerk reactions since that's exactly what this journal is about trying to AVOID.Educating Ourselves8 months ago in Personal More Like This
Over the years I’ve had a pretty straightforward view on gun control. Guns are dangerous and need to be restricted and made more inaccessible to prevent future acts of gun violence. I’ve never genuinely believed in the idea of banning all guns because I do think people DO need to have ways to protect themselves.
However, I’ve recently been thinking more about a different aspect to the gun control debate and it’s broader implications to other troublesome politically charged areas of our (United States) cult

They aren't better than you.I don't soapbox often, but I feel the need to say something to all my fellow artists... because I've had to struggle with this, and I know many (if not all) of you do, too. They aren't better than you.1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Being on a site like this, with so much collaboration and so many artists of different styles and skills, can be both great and terrible for artists. Like myself, you probably have artists that you follow because they inspire you, because you 'wish you could draw as well as them'. It's impossible to draw without inspiration from something, and it's very hard to improve if you don't have examples for you to learn new techniques and ways to approach art.
But as easy as it is to find inspiration here, it's even easier to find discouragement.
I'm not surprised artists are statistically some of the most depressed people, for several reasons. The first is that, especially for those who do art for money, we have the issue of having so much stress placed on us because everything we do is going to be scrutinized and evaluate

Some of my favourites that didn't win were:
Dynamo-Panda with their interesting fact about the longest place name in the world: "Lake Chargoggagoggmanchauggagoggchaubunagungamaugg"
LovesWolves114 who inundated me with educational facts, the most intriguing one being: "Earth is the only planet not named after a god."
Lillypop90 who posted a pair of boobs
And the winner or should I say winners! As I couldn't decide between these two:
Craeter with the awesome fact that I knew at one point when I was at school but have since forgotten: "All of the planets in the solar system could fit in the distance between the earth and moon."
Kasumi-Akatsuki with their hilarious comment: "I eat broccoli because it reminds me of little trees and I feel like a giant. RAWR "

The great hall of E3. The first thing you see when you enter the South hall (E3 is fricking huge).
Nintendo's area! I hung around this area for most of the 3 days since well... I love Nintendo! I played more games here such as Splatoon, Yoshi's new Yarn game and countless others.
A photo of me playing my 3DS while I wait in line to play Hyrule Warriors.
Me at a Monster Hunter photo shoot x)
The huuuuuge Super Smash Bros Wii U screen where players would battle it out to win a legit gold SSB medal. I kept winning the training part, but never the final battle T__T Still, my boyfriend won two medals and gave me one lol.
This isn't me, but I took this photo of my boyfriend and my friend photo-bombing him when we attended the Xbox One conference. It was really cool experiencing the conference live!
I also met people like the well-known Triforce guy and the creator of Tetris! *___*
Discrimnation towards AtheistsIt's the 21st century.Discrimnation towards Atheists4 months ago in Personal More Like This
I thought by now people would be tolerable of Atheists and Agnostics.
There are many parts of the the world that Atheism is seen as evil. It's seen as if you have nothing going for you in life. Seriously. In Saudi Arabia, Atheists are considered to be "terrorists".
Oh, I'm sorry. People who don't believe in God are "unholy terrorists", yet those who actually do terrorize people (such as rape, murder, bombings and mass shootings) are not terrorists. Okay.
Now, we'll look at Atheism here in the United States. Religion is declining, while Atheism is on the rise. However, if you live in any of the states listed below, you are at serious risk of having the living shit beaten out of you if you're not religious:
If you happen to live in any of the states above, lemme tell you another thing: if you're Atheist, you are banned from holding publ

I never personally found the accurate coat to buy. I did find out that the jacket was originally sold by JC Penny, but they are no longer in production and I never found one for sale. The website I found it on was an overstock site and they were already sold out, and now even that page is down. My coat is NOT the accurate coat. I ended up making a lucky thrift-store find with a coat that was the right color and size for me, but had a strange flap on one shoulder and no straps on the cuffs. I ended up seam-ripping off the flap and re-sewing the shoulder, then hemming the cuffs and adding the wrist straps using the fabric from the shoulder straps.
