The Great OC Contest - Draw my OC's and win!THE CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED!The Great OC Contest - Draw my OC's and win!11 months ago in Personal More Like This
If you have already finished your entry, post it now! You have time up to midnight tonight, because tomorrow the jury (me, my sister and my father) will consult to choose the best ones and probably the results of the contest will be published.
Are you good at portraying people? Are you a fan of vampires? Do you like wolves or werewolves? Do you have a penchant for dragons and you like to draw? If you answered yes to at least one of these questions, you're in the contest for you!
Welcome to my first REAL contest on deviantart. (There was another, smaller, but that does not count ...).
This is a kind of statistical contest ... to the character that will be many times designed and therefore appreciated among my OC, surely will be granted to survive the final battle of the Way of Legends (or any battle).
But 'nuff said! I know you want to know the rules and priz
Fight for Young JusticeHey guys, long time no see.Fight for Young Justice1 year ago in Personal More Like This
I want it to be known that I am beyond upset at the loss of Young Justice, and for that reason I've decided to be one of many to fight for its return. There is a Facebook group called Squads of Young Justice that is using the divide and conquer method. There are six groups:
Alpha: Goes after CN through Facebook - sharing pictures, promoting pages, rallying troops - to make CN see us!
Beta: Also in social media, but through Twitter - tweeting at producers, at the stations, at suppliers.
Epsilon: Attack via Youtube. Make any type of video promoting the return of YJ.
Gamma: Research Squad - our version of Oracle. Idea is to keep the rest of the squads up to date on all YJ info that can be used for us. Such as stories on others fighting the fight, articles on YJ reviews and ratings, etc. Other tasks will be given as needed.
Delta: Ground Squad - responsible for spamming CN with the physical proof of our want for YJ's return. Be it hand written letters, art, post

The short answer, we are a group that suggest art for the ever so wanted Daily Deviation Award and feature art of all kinds. How does it work? Well we're glad you asked! Well there's a few ways this process works out.
You can either submit a piece of your own work that you feel deserves a DD
You can suggest the work of another artist/writer which you deem DD worthy
The administration can suggest work they find DD worthy
Once a piece is submitted, our incredible staff will evaluate the work. Part of the evaluation includes, but is not limited to the following criteria:
Is it a finished piece?
How is the composition of the piece?
Is it original?
How does it compare to past DD awarded pieces in its genre (We base this on the DD-Catalogue found here DD-Catalogue or DD-Catalogue)
If the piece is accepted by an admin, at the least one admin will suggest the piece to a GM (well they will soon be changing th

btw as much as Soulpsion might claim all the screenshots here are 'legally certified photoshop fakes' - they're not - we do not have reason to lie like she does(my live does not resolve around my internet presence, I don't have time for nonsense liek this) - if she calls us liars she can simply prove us so with revealing the 'true' comments on her page which she has hidden ^^ why hide them if not because they show exactly the same as our screenshots - Psion's lies? why don't you show us your so called legal certificate?

YOUNG JUSTICE: CANCELLATIONWith this online art community, we have a unique opportunity to connect with our kindred. We must avail ourselves of this experience, for it may never come again.YOUNG JUSTICE: CANCELLATION1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Yes, YOUNG JUSTICE fans, the sad news is now official. This very popular show will -- Reach-- its abrupt and premature end with the conclusion of Season Two. It is with a heavy heart that I confirm the reports. Of course, none of us was able to say anything about it since last year. It was a very fun ride. As for the reasons behind the cancellation, I can only say that it was beyond the control of WB Animation, and that the decision was made by the powers at Cartoon Network (bless 'em). On behalf of the producers, and the rest of our dedicated crew at YOUNG JUSTICE, I would like to express our deepest gratitude to all the loyal fans who supported us, who shared the dream with us, and who will continue to love the YOUNG JUSTICE universe
Justice League: The Flashpoint ParadoxOver the last few months I have been getting a lot of questions here on DA about what my next project would be and when it might be announced and released. Also, I am thrilled to say, that a lot of you awesome friends and fans have expressed the idea that following Young Justice, you would like to see more DC animation work from me. Well I am happy to reveal that the next project featuring my design work is the recently announced Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox, directed by the super talented Jay Oliva, and it will hit the streets on July 30th. I did the designs for this film last spring and summer (after production wrapped on YJ: Invasion) and we just finished post production on the project last month. I gotta say that thanks to all the tremendous talent involved in making this thing, it's looking pretty epic. I personally pushed my style into a slightly more exaggerated look for much of this film and I hope those of you who dug the look of Young Justice will get a kick out ofJustice League: The Flashpoint Paradox11 months ago in Personal More Like This
SDCC, Flashpoint and other stuff...It's been a while! I feel like I've been living under a rock but it just aint' so! To tell the truth, I'm crazy busy working on more DC animated movies that will hopefully charm, thrill, and entertain everyone and they mama, and they mama's mama, lol. Anyway, I wanted to take some time today to post an update regarding SDCC 2013 and the next movie in WBA's line of DC animated direct to DVD features, Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox! We worked our fingers to the bone on this one and we will be screening it for the first time ever at this years Comic Con, Friday July 19th in beautiful San Diego California!SDCC, Flashpoint and other stuff...8 months ago in Personal More Like This

Although it's been over a year since we wrapped production on YJ, with the dust settling on the finale it seems like a fitting time to express my gratitude to all the people I worked with on the show and all the fans who helped make the whole experience special. I'm WAY too lazy to list ALL the amazing people here (that's what IMDB is for guys ) so I'll just keep it quick.
Deepest gratitude of course goes to Sam Register, Brandon Vietti and Greg Weisman who brought me onto the project when development began in Spring of 2009. At that point it was just the four of us meeting to discuss design and direction while Brandon and Greg began crafting the overall story and history of this version of the DCU. Without these guys there obviously would not have been a YJ cartoon at all, and although we didn't always agree on everything, I can't imagine having worked on it with anyone else really.
I also want to give major props to our awesom
Legends of the Solari needs art!So I have been working on this RPG (old school game like Dungeons and Dragon, not computer RPG) for about 7 1/2 years now. I need art for it before I can put the beta up online. I have decided to post the list of art needed here and descriptions of what I need and let the DA community draw them. I will, of course, pay any of the artists whose work I use. I have money set aside just for that purpose. You will only be paid for the art if your art is chosen for the beta, so please ask me any questions you have before you begin working on a picture. Any art also used for the final print will receive additional payment to be negotiated when the art is chosen for the beta. Being chosen for the beta does not guarantee that your art will be chosen for the final print.Legends of the Solari needs art!1 year ago in Personal More Like This

EDIT: I revised my traditional commissions prices too, lowering them slightly as I did for digital commissions and simplifying them a bit to further shorten the journal.
That said, you have probably noticed I'm drawing a lot these days; I can't go to my workshop much with this freezing weather (I had a surgery at the end of last year, and cold is bad for my 10 cm long scar... I'm really a pirate now ), and this means that masks commissions are progressing slooooowly. I was supposed to finish a couple of them by then end of this month... sorry for who is patiently waiting, I'll catch up with my crafts commissions as soon it will stop raining at least (although I fear it could snow soon--I like snow but I hate winter... yeah, I know it doesn't make sense ^^' ).
I revised my digital commissions prices (lowering some of them a little) to simplify the journal, which was becoming too long.
Tutorial Tuesday: Commissioning Do and Don'tSo I'm back at it! The incredible amount of re-blogs and likes I've received the last few weeks on my tutorials have been overwhelming so I've returned with new tutorials!Tutorial Tuesday: Commissioning Do and Don't7 months ago in Personal More Like This
I have a list here of at least a dozen different things I want to teach all of you, (and I'm sure that list is going to grow.) But I thought today we'll ease into it with some of the dos and don'ts when getting a private commission from your favorite artist.
Now I should start off by saying that these are based off my own experiences. Every artist is different and they have policies, preferences, and procedures they prefer. So be sure to ask them how they do things so that everything goes smoothly. In my experience though, following these guidelines will significantly increase the chances that the artwork you commission will come out amazing. So here we go!
DO: Tell the artist what you want.
This is simple but the most important.

August, 2010, the last weekend before overtime started on our major AAA project. I was transferred from the previous rhythm/music video game onto the major blockbuster shooter just a month prior to their major crunch period. We were literally jumping from our last crunch into a new one with hardly any break. Though the timing made things a bit hectic, I soon learned it certainly was convenient.
The news had already traveled the pipeline. I didn't just depart from that last company; I was chased by an exploding fireball out the front door, diving for safety. The layoff's hit just minutes after I finalized the paperwork for the parking card at the new developer's campus, the HR representatives

Together with some others we could name a lot more.
How about you? anything like this ever happened to you?
Things you shouldn't say to an artist.
1 Can you do the artwork for this job for free? It will be a good promotional piece for you. Get you some word to mouth advertising.
2 Mom Look! That painting is just like that picture you downloaded from the internet and got framed for the living room.
3 Wow. You charge THAT much? You make it look so easy.
4 If you don't make it so detailed... Just scribble something down... Can I get it cheaper?
5 If you use that piece you already got and change it a little, can I get it cheaper? You already have done most of it.
6 I can use a Photoshop filter to do that exact same thing.
7 You are lucky... you don't have to work, you just have to sit and paint all day.
Had the Urge...…to write this because I'm getting repeated questions that are pretty much along the same lines and rather than direct each one to my FAQ, I have a different way to answer the question, which is basically:Had the Urge...1 year ago in Personal More Like This
"Why am I not getting anywhere in my art? What can I do to get better? No one is liking my work, how can I get more people to like my work so they can pay me?"
The real question you should be asking yourselves is:
"Why am I drawing?"
I mean, I take a look all the time at people who may not be skilled or whatever, and I'm sure they don't feel the best about their work (or they may), but they always have something to say that made them feel good while drawing it. Saw a sunset beach picture earlier that someone drew/painted and of course, it's not professional-looking at all. What ringed to me was the fact that in their comments, they said they "enjoyed it and was a relaxing piece". Not complaining about how the sand looks too crappy or the colors in the s

I quit my job.I had to. Being stuck in retail hell for years was getting to me. There's only so many times you can deal with disrespectful self-entitled customers daily, especially when you have personal goals and aspirations that have nothing to do with retail or the success of the business you're working so hard for. (with little acknowledgement.) It's not that I never put my heart into my job -- I even made some great friends there. It's just, when you see so many of your other friends, even family members doing seriously cool things with their talents... it eats at you like you're staring at your own death-clock.I quit my job.2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I haven't been one to take risks in the past, so the thought of cutting off my only source of income wasn't exactly on the forefront of my thoughts. But, I was given an opportunity with a soon-to-be startup studio that a bunch of friends of mine are already apart of. I came on board this project earlier this year, but only slightly part-time. On my days off from my retail job, I would p
omgI was trying out Krita (a free drawing software) brushes, and had the biggest surprise to see this:omg3 weeks ago in Personal More Like This
At first I was like "woah, this looks so much like my brush texture (that I really like and often use), this brush will be very useful!....w w-wait a minute."
These are the brushes I made available in a free psd brush pack a long time ago:
The "sponge-brush" in Krita is the EXACT same texture I made, but mirrored xD
It's a texture from a pattern I also made and mixed with other brushes from this pack. Here is the pattern for anyone who would be interested:
I do not blame them for this, I just found this funny and a bit flattering. My textures were made free to use, and Krita is also a free software, so I honestly do not mind at all :b
I was not expecting my brush pack to have been so much popular and used, I looked it up and my pack is now available on many sit
