No better living functioning evolving example of the new pattern in the creation, dissemination and education in the visual arts can be found than Imaginism Studios, the online brainchild of artists Bobby Chiu & Kei Acedera. Established in Toronto in 2005, the studio has specialized in pre-production character and concept design for film, TV, gaming, and publishing. As creators of some of the most wildly creative and whimsical images ever presented on deviantART, this artistic couple has built an international fan base independent of their c
If I Did Fursuit Head Base Commissions......How much would you be willing to pay?If I Did Fursuit Head Base Commissions...3 years ago in Personal More Like This
I'm not saying I'm opening them now, but just, if I DID, what would be a decent price range?
Remember, it can't be too cheap.
But does 30-55 sound good?
Also, if you want to be put on a "hold" list for a fursuit head/base/tail commission, let me know. I may not be able to get to it for a while, but if you're interested, and want to save up the money or put it aside for that, I could put you on a list and you'd be the first person to get their commission done when I open them.
Just a hold spot, for if you want to save up money for one, or just want a commission done by me.
Badges are still open 24/7 as usual, so those I can get finished in a matter of hours.
Thanks for your help, guys!

Last few weeks of college and it's only sinking in a little bit. It's probably not gonna hit me until the last few days, but so far I can say I will REALLY miss everybody. The college experience has been delightful and I look back on these fond memories, even the bad ones, like when CapitanoZippy made me lose my shit one day in February 2012 but I digress. *~Before joining DA I thought I'd never improve. No one believed in me, and I believed them.
I was born with rare eye problems and yet all I ever wanted to do was draw. I never got the
chance to show my art to many people, and when I got internet for the first time people weren't
kind to me about it. A friend inspired me to draw more and told me to join DA. I've been here for
many years and have had 3 accounts. I'd say I've been here since about 2005. Because the people here were so kind, I got better and better...
Thanks everyone, thanks DA. I don't know where I would be without you.~*
I just want to thank every single one of you for supporting me and my art. I don't draw because I have to or even for money. I draw because I need to and because it fills my heart with so much love and happiness. When I am sad I can draw a sad picture and it feels like
Good Riddance Michael BayI personally can't stand the guy. I was so happy when I first heard he was going to be directing the TF movies because his car chase and action scenes had been so good, but then when I heard about how he didn't want to do the movies and didn't like Transformers at all, and said he would do them his own way obviously with little regard to source material... I could tell these were absolutely not going to be the transformers movies that the fans wanted.Good Riddance Michael Bay11 months ago in Personal More Like This
Sure, the Bay movies were action and effects packed, and I enjoyed watching all of them although ROTF was just a horrible shitty movie and none were really good aside from visuals and action, but I know for a fact that if done well, a Transformers movie that was more like the original, maybe even actually set in the 80s for some extra laughs and fun, could have been just as successful but maybe even with okay critic reviews.
I pretty much hate the Transformers fan base that I used to love being a part of too, and that is 100% on Bay. He d

Heads will come with a moving jaw by defult unless you prefure static for a better expression. All of my heads are built on balaclava base for a closer fit and more comfortable wear. Nice airflow through the open mouth and eyes. I can do outdoor feet with nice thick rubber soles, even latex pawpads for a small additional cost. And yes, this latex is durable enough that it can be concidred "indoor" pawpads, but work juuuust fine outside. Believe me, I've given them quite a work

Sailor Moon: New Anime in 2013 (now w/video)This is not a rumor!Sailor Moon: New Anime in 2013 (now w/video)3 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
It was officially announced that there will be a BRAND NEW Sailormoon Anime in Summer 2013! The original Japanese VAs for Moon and Tuxy seem to be reprising their roles (based on the conversation in the event). We don't have much more detail, a letter from Naoko said she hopes we like the new series and she's happy to be making it. She said she's overwhelmed at the support the series still has and it makes her happy. She didn't think she could do something new but now she's happy she can bring them back!
They said the audience is intended to be the original fans of the show. It will be like a "powered up" of the original story, aimed at the good girls (and boys!) who grew up with the show. TOEI is doing it.
There was something in the announcement about it being released worldwide but we don't know the details. We do not know what this means as far as a possible English dub/sub. We don't yet know when/how this will reach a US market.
The new theme song is bein
artbook questions - again!hey wonderful followers. thanks again for all the help regarding the art theft from last week. i'll keep you posted on what happens!artbook questions - again!3 years ago in Personal More Like This
i'm thinking about that artbook i mentioned a few journal entries back. i have some ideas of how i want to handle the content, which includes a few exclusive pieces, tutorials/walkthroughs and probably a dvd showing my painting process. i want to make it happen! but one thing i've decided is to look for a publisher in the U.S. it would be great since that would make the book altogether more affordable for many of you - it's so expensive to ship from europe! so i wanted to ask if any of you guys could suggest any american publishers or knew any companies that make interesting artbooks that aren't too expensive/gigantic? any tips would be great. thank youuuuuu for reading!

Things I Miss About Last YearBecause spring is pretty much here in Nova Scotia.Things I Miss About Last Year3 years ago in Personal More Like This
I still believe that this year has been more draining on my person than last year, mostly because we did so much cool stuff last year in college than this year. The color of this year is grey. So here's a list of things that I miss from last year:
Everyone being in the first year class not stuck in front of computer all day long, playing Pokemon, going on A&W Hambahghar Adventures, Cartoon Club, The List of Inside Jokes, being able to buy the odd bottle of wine after a long day of work, random one-off adventures to Wal-Mart and Frenchies, Needs Adeventures, bowling, sushi, when The Big Lebowski and Ponies meant more to me, hours of relaxing watercolor painting during Capstone, when playing in a band didn't feel like work, Beard Day, the "beard-bead-curtain", Blue Beard, recording Shaolin Facepalm, Dulahan Night, smashing watermelons, inane and pointless conversations with everyone in class without getting too weird, the odd soccer/foot

Reached over 3000 views! To be fair to the general public, when I reach 9000 there'll be no jokes.
In between work my ass off in school and slacking off at the worst possible moments to do my own stuff, I'm a pretty busy guy, but I always find time to do art.
Today at NSCC we were visited by Ron Doucette from Copernicus, to talk about the animation business, and it's all very fascinating. They're in the process of several cartoons and our class had the pleasure of seeing one of them while it's still in production. I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised and the animation was top notch. Ron has previously work in shows like Olliver's Adventures, Johnny Test and Delilah & Julius among others.
Last Friday before the major Canadian Turkey Fest we were visited by

On pricing your artwork and creating a career...I am going to be speaking at an "Entrepreneurship In The Arts" program later today, and I've been organizing my thoughts. One subject that is certain to come up; "how do you arrive at a fair price for your original artwork?" I have some definite ideas regarding that question. On pricing your artwork and creating a career...3 years ago in Personal More Like This
I was always told that the accepted model for artists and artisans, when it comes to pricing, was double your costs for materials, figure out an hourly price (double that for your retail price if you plan to have wholesale/retail differentials), add it up and there's your item price. I think this model is pure bullshit.
I was also told "charge what the market will bear!" Again, vague bullshit. What if you live in a depressed area? What if you live in a third world country? What if you're at some artist's ally at a little convention and there is a kid sitting next to you selling her character sketches for $5 each?
Here is what I think. There are so many variables when it comes to pricing original art. Yo

This Past Weekend Was A BlurBut it was a fun one for sure! After a quick jam on Friday to pump us up we loaded Devin's truck with all of our gear and hit to road to Kentville for a show at 10:00 that night at the Traveller's Club. There we played with Vicious, Doom Machine and Enemy Designed. We have an amazing relationship with Vicious, who are an Iron Maiden style metal band. Each of us loves each others music and we can relate to them very well as people too. In fact we're so into each other both bands want to do a tour this summer called The Infectious Tour (portmanteau of Infectocide and Vicious). Whether or not it happens is to be seen but goddamn it I want it to happen! This Past Weekend Was A Blur3 years ago in Personal More Like This
After the gig we all went to a hotel room and basically got drunk (For me, Oland Beer, Jackie D and Malibu Pineapple) and talked inane conversations for three hours until we all passed out. I pretty much only got about two hours of sleep that night before I woke up terribly hungover and exhausted. After a two hour drive back home i went to
