A Brother's Betrayal: (Intro) Weakest LinkWeakest Link (TMNT)
Karai stood before the doorway to her father’s chambers. This wasn’t going to be easy. Ever since they arrived in New York, her father had shown nothing but dedication to his vendetta against his old enemy, Hamato Yoshi. A little too much dedication, as far as she was concerned. She understood his pain. Hamato Yoshi (or Splinter, as he was calling himself these days), had killed her mother when she was an infant, destroying their family forever. Her father never forgot that day and he wouldn’t let her forget it either, no matter how much she wished he would leave the past in the past. Killing Splinter would not bring her mother back, but the Shredder didn’t care. To him, loose ends were unacceptable. If destroying Splinter and his army of mutant turtles would bring her father back to her, so be it. All she had to do was get him to listen for a few minutes.
Taking a deep breath, Karai stepped into the chamber of her fa

Taking Up the Gauntlet
When April entered the sewer lair, she found Splinter meditating on the couch in the common room. At the sound of her footsteps he turned and looked up at her as she stood at the top of the stairs. A long, uncomfortable silence filled the room. The soft beeping and chirping of the arcade games only made the silence even louder. There were many questions Splinter wanted to ask her. He wanted to know what happened with the pigeon man, why she had come back alone, where his sons were and what they were doing, and so on. But from her dismal demeanor, her slumped shoulders and downcast eyes, he sensed that those questions would have to wait.
His furry white brows drew together in concern. "You seem tired."
She nodded her head listlessly, eyes focused on the space of floor between her feet.
Picking up his walking stick, he rose from the couch. "Come with me." He turned and walked toward the kitchen.
A Brother's Betrayal: Weakest Link (chapter 1)April’s heart pounded in her chest as she ran down the street, frantically looking for a place to hide. She knew it was hopeless, but she had to try if she was to survive. The thudding grew louder behind her, causing her to gasp in panic. She quickly ducked down the nearest alleyway in hopes of finding an escape route, but instead she found a dead end. Nothing but a solid brick wall stopping her in her tracks. Maybe there was still time to turn around and find another place, but it was too late. A menacing shadow loomed over her, engulfing her in darkness. There, towering over her with twitching vines, was the horrible Snakeweed!A Brother's Betrayal: Weakest Link (chapter 1)1 year ago in Sci-Fi More Like This
“Where do you think you’re going, little girl?” hissed the plant monster, backing April against the wall.
April scanned the alley for anything she could use to defend herself. Picking up a nearby brick, April prepared herself to chuck it at Snakeweed. “Get away from me, creep!”
Snakeweed ignored her threats and

It was about 7:35 pm when April heard a tapping noise by the fire escape.
She sat bolt upright at her desk, hands still poised over the keyboard of her laptop, holding her breath. Had she imagined it? No, there it was again. Someone was definitely tapping on the window by the fire escape.
Her mind and her heart began racing simultaneously. There were only three possible explanations she could think of for this situation. One was that a burglar was trying to break into the apartment. The second was that the alien robots she had escaped from a week ago had come for her. The third was that the foursome of giant talking turtles that had saved her from the alien robots had decided to pay her a visit. The only way she could find out which one of those three possible options was out there right now was to go to the window and see.
Very slowly, she leaned over in her chair, reached under the desk and picked up the only weapon she had; an aluminum baseball bat. She could fend off a burglar easi
A Brother's Betrayal: Weakest Link (chapter 2)“Man, I can’t believe you used Splinter’s nerve-pinch move on Raph,” said Donnie as April packed up her gear. “It’s like his only weakness. April chuckled. “Yeah, well I assumed you reached your teasing quota for the day. Raph can be a bit of a jerk at times.”
“Well, we are brothers. It’s one of the sibling commandments: Thou shalt not live one day without tormenting the other.”
“Almost makes me glad I’m an only child,” said April, shouldering her backpack. “Then again, that’s why I have you guys to help fill the void.”
Although the comment was harmless, Donnie couldn’t help but wish April would stop seeing him as a brother. The old teen magazines that he read would call this “Friend Zoning,” which meant that your crush sees you as nothing more than a close friend or sibling. It

The real pain lies in the long days and nights that drag by when you're alone. April O'Neil supposed that came with the package when your husband is anything but human, but that fact didn't make things any easier.
The young woman slid from the bed, hearing it lightly creak as she stood up and walked out of the room. She never realized how big the country home she and Donatello lived in was until she was left by herself. What normally would be filled with chatter, laughter and activity was now filled with an uncomfortable silence.
April found herself at the head of the stairs and she gazed down into the darkness. She took one step, feeling the wood beneath her feet shift and creak loud enough to wake the dead.
Soon, she was at the bottom and she gazed into the darkened living room. April glanced at the door that led to the kitchen and turned from it as she walked to the front door.
The house used to belong to April's aunt, but now it belonged to her and Donnie. The house had been left a

The cool breeze caressed Donatello’s skin like icy fingers. Autumn was approaching New York City and the snow would be falling soon. He didn’t know how he and his brothers would manage patrol with the winter approaching, but they could figure it out. They always did.
The mutant took a step, and for the first time in a long while was able to appreciate the silence while he was on patrol by himself. With the bustling city in the background, he had him and his thoughts to keep himself company.
Naturally, his mind shifted over to a certain red head in his life. April O’Neil seemed to always be on Donnie’s mind. Somehow he could be thinking one thing and it’d end up with her in the back of his subconscious. He could be inventing something or drawing out blue prints and suddenly her face is all he could see. It was frustrating, but deep down the mutant wouldn’t trade his thoughts for the world.
Donatello stopped where he was on the roof of a skyscraper, su
TMNT-SickTo Donatello, there was nothing worse than a cold. Nope. Nada. Zippo. It meant he couldn’t go on patrol. Meant even working on an invention would send him into a massive migraine. So all in all, he couldn’t do anything he loved. Splinter forced the mutant to either lay in his room or on the couch pretty much doing nothing until he got better. And when Donatello got sick, he was sick for a while. And he’d always have all the symptoms. Fever, chills, nausea, name it and he probably had it.
Laying on the couch, Donnie stared up at the ceiling of the lair bundled in blankets. His brothers were on patrol and Splinter was probably meditating in his room., which meant the mutant was all alone. Completely and utterly alone. And he hated it. Even trying to force himself to sit up hurt too much. So he just laid there pitifully.
“Hello? Anyone here?” A female voice rang from close by. Donatello
The Value of a Name -TMNT--April/Donnie FF-- Quickly, she rushed into her room with the little container in her hands; not even pausing for her host but muttering a rushed greeting to her bewildered and slightly dizzy aunt as she rocketed by and flew upstairs in a red and yellow flash. April closed the door behind her and slowly now, made her way to a tank on her desk. It was a rather large tank; filled with pretty river stones, bright and deep green aquatic plants covering up the filter and water heater, a slightly bobbing platform floating upon the rarely disturbed surface of the half filled tank and a grated top keeping a lamp from falling in and toasting the few tiny needle-like fish that darted here and there throughout the tank. This was her masterpiece. A creation that had taken a lot of time, thought, research and allowance. In fact, this expensive stroke of brilliance had cost so much, she even had to dip into her lunch money; she could still feel the uncomfortable pricks of hunger pains against the flesh of her tThe Value of a Name -TMNT--April/Donnie FF--11 months ago in Romance More Like This
TMNT-Operation: Pay BackLight footsteps could be heard shuffling down a main tunnel towards the turtle's lair. The mutants, now young men in their late twenties, stood on guard as the sound grew closer and closer.TMNT-Operation: Pay Back1 year ago in Humor More Like This
Upon realizing which tunnel it was coming from, they relaxed and waited for their visitor. A ten year old girl with dark red hair walked into view. Her feet dragged across the ground and her reddish brown and blue eyes were lowered to the floor. She dragged a back pack in behind her on the ground, hardly caring about the condition it would be in later.
The little girl was scooped up into the tight embrace of Michelangelo. The mutant spun her around and crushed her to him, snuggling his cheek against hers. Despite the fact that the girl was in a sad mood, she couldn't help but crack a smile and let out a laugh.
"Uncle Mikeeey!" She whined. "You're hurting my ribs again!"

Donatello groaned and turned over in his bed, trying to block out the sound.
Eyes snapping open, Donnie furrowed his eyebrows and stared tiredly at the top of his and Mikey's double-bunk, sighing loudly.
"What Mikey?" He croaked, placing an arm over his eyes.
"No." Donnie replied with annoyance. Turning on his stomach, he smashed the pillow over his head and snapped,
"Go to bed."
Mikey blinked, and stared at the empty space above him. Biting his lip, he looked around. Dark, dark dark, nothing but dark. Man he was bored. Wide awake actually. Sitting up and stretching, he bent over the side of the bed and stared at his brother, who was now half-asleep. Mikey smiled mischievously. Time to have a little fun. Grinning, Mikey swiftly locked his legs onto the side of the bed and lowered himself to Donnie's face level. Breathing quietly, he whispered,

Mikey's nunchaku landed by his foot. Mikey was several feet away. Before he could help his younger brother Shredder had taken him.
The day before...
"We need to split up," Leo instructed. "Raph you and Mikey--"
"I don't want Mikey, make Donnie take him!" Raph snapped.
"I don't want him either! Leo you take him," Donnie complained.
"If none of you want me then fine! I don't want you either!" Mikey snapped. He climbed down the fire escape.
"Mikey! Come back," Leo called. As he tried to chase him down. "Great see what you guys did!"
"Not like you wanted him either," Raph said, following behind Leo. "You were sending him with me."
"Let's go find Mikey," Leo said, leaving the ally way.
Leo, Raph, and Donnie searched all over the city for Mikey. They even called April in case he showed up there. They slipped into the ally way that was closet to their lair. Donnie dropped to the ground.
"We have been at this for hours! We are never going to find him

Mikey struggled. He was tied to a chair and his head was hurting. Shredder was standing over him. Their eyes met. Mikey looked into his captor's eyes. One eye was scarred. It creeped Mikey out just looking at him. There was an annoying blinking red light behind him.
"You know what this is?" Shredder asked pulling an object from behind his back.
"My…nunchaku," Mikey said. His blue eyes dulled as he saw his weapon in the hands of his enemy.
"That's right," Shredder said with a twisted smile. He stretched his arm out and quickly brought it back smacking Mikey with his own weapon. He gave Mikey a few more blows to the head with the weapon before using his clawed weapon on his hand to break the nunchaku in two.
Mikey's breathing was uneven, his head was sore. "S-stop," he said helplessly. Shredder gave a low laugh.
"Splinter must pay for what he has done!" With his claw-like blade he made a gash on Mikey's arm, causing him to whimper. After several more attack

But that was the thing about Donatello. When he was so wrapped up in something, he more often than not ended up hurt in some way. He may be intelligent and a man of science, but science doesn't always mean it gets along with fate or destiny. It was as though the mutant laughed in the face of fate. Like he could control it. Like he had forever to live and laugh at life because he was so intelligent he could easily outsmart the simplest of atoms.
And love did that to you, too. Make you forget how to be yourself. How to properly think. How to wake up and smell the probability and science in the morning, not just chance.

April exhaled exasperatedly, cutting her friend off as she crossed the street.
"Donnie, I've told you a hundred times—I'll be fine! It's not even dark yet. Besides, I'm only a block away now. There'd be no point to you guys leaving the Lair just to 'escort me' back."
"Well, it wouldn't be all of us, just…you know… me—"
"Donnie," April interrupted, and any attempt at making her voice sound stern failed when she was unable to control the grin that slid onto her face. "Stop. Worrying. I'll see you soon—be sure to tell Mikey to have some popcorn ready."
Donatello released a long-suffering sigh, knowing a pointless argument when he heard one.
"So are we really watching Spaces Heroes: The Movie?"
"Yes," April answered curtly. "It's Leo's turn to choose tonight's movie."
"Ugh. I know. Are you sure you couldn't somehow change his mind?" Donatello finished hopefully.

TMNT-SilenceIt had been a long day for April and all she wanted more than anything in the world was for some peace and quiet. She supposed it had been a bad idea going down to visit her turtle friends, since none of them seem to understand the concept of what ‘peace and quiet’ was. Well, except for Splinter, but still.TMNT-Silence1 year ago in Romance More Like This
But yet, there she was. Sitting in the turtles’ living room and listening to the never ending chatter of her most trusted friend, Donatello. He was going on about some new invention he was making and using an incredible discovery he had uncovered while digging around the local dump.
April’s head buzzed with the beginning of a headache. What was that about coding? To be honest, she had stopped listening to the turtle somewhere after ‘ectoplasmic egg beater.’ And even though she had been reduced to nodding and some “ugh huh”s now and then, he didn’t seem to lose the excitement or speed of his chatter. She felt bad, because normally
