A Brother's Betrayal: (Intro) Weakest LinkWeakest Link (TMNT)
Karai stood before the doorway to her father’s chambers. This wasn’t going to be easy. Ever since they arrived in New York, her father had shown nothing but dedication to his vendetta against his old enemy, Hamato Yoshi. A little too much dedication, as far as she was concerned. She understood his pain. Hamato Yoshi (or Splinter, as he was calling himself these days), had killed her mother when she was an infant, destroying their family forever. Her father never forgot that day and he wouldn’t let her forget it either, no matter how much she wished he would leave the past in the past. Killing Splinter would not bring her mother back, but the Shredder didn’t care. To him, loose ends were unacceptable. If destroying Splinter and his army of mutant turtles would bring her father back to her, so be it. All she had to do was get him to listen for a few minutes.
Taking a deep breath, Karai stepped into the chamber of her fa

Taking Up the Gauntlet
When April entered the sewer lair, she found Splinter meditating on the couch in the common room. At the sound of her footsteps he turned and looked up at her as she stood at the top of the stairs. A long, uncomfortable silence filled the room. The soft beeping and chirping of the arcade games only made the silence even louder. There were many questions Splinter wanted to ask her. He wanted to know what happened with the pigeon man, why she had come back alone, where his sons were and what they were doing, and so on. But from her dismal demeanor, her slumped shoulders and downcast eyes, he sensed that those questions would have to wait.
His furry white brows drew together in concern. "You seem tired."
She nodded her head listlessly, eyes focused on the space of floor between her feet.
Picking up his walking stick, he rose from the couch. "Come with me." He turned and walked toward the kitchen.
A Brother's Betrayal: Weakest Link (chapter 1)April’s heart pounded in her chest as she ran down the street, frantically looking for a place to hide. She knew it was hopeless, but she had to try if she was to survive. The thudding grew louder behind her, causing her to gasp in panic. She quickly ducked down the nearest alleyway in hopes of finding an escape route, but instead she found a dead end. Nothing but a solid brick wall stopping her in her tracks. Maybe there was still time to turn around and find another place, but it was too late. A menacing shadow loomed over her, engulfing her in darkness. There, towering over her with twitching vines, was the horrible Snakeweed!A Brother's Betrayal: Weakest Link (chapter 1)2 years ago in Sci-Fi More Like This
“Where do you think you’re going, little girl?” hissed the plant monster, backing April against the wall.
April scanned the alley for anything she could use to defend herself. Picking up a nearby brick, April prepared herself to chuck it at Snakeweed. “Get away from me, creep!”
Snakeweed ignored her threats and

Splinter never let his eyes wandered anywhere but the screen of the television, where his favorite soap opera was being aired, but his ears picked up more than just the sound of the TV. Even when barricaded from the rest of the lair, the garage still made more noise than they could tolerate, even worse when Raphael and Donatello were at it. The old rat sighed in defeat. Perhaps a lecture about courtesy for those two might be in order, yet Splinter suppressed that idea almost immediately. They were having a time of their lives, who was he to interrupt them? No, he wouldn't do that, not when he knows that they are inseparable...
Ten years ago...
Leo and Mikey were already in their shared bedroom, no doubt to try out a new game the youngest just invented, leaving a grumpy Raphael and a willing Donatello to help their master with the dishes. Splinter just shook his head as he observed his short-tempered son wip

It was about 7:35 pm when April heard a tapping noise by the fire escape.
She sat bolt upright at her desk, hands still poised over the keyboard of her laptop, holding her breath. Had she imagined it? No, there it was again. Someone was definitely tapping on the window by the fire escape.
Her mind and her heart began racing simultaneously. There were only three possible explanations she could think of for this situation. One was that a burglar was trying to break into the apartment. The second was that the alien robots she had escaped from a week ago had come for her. The third was that the foursome of giant talking turtles that had saved her from the alien robots had decided to pay her a visit. The only way she could find out which one of those three possible options was out there right now was to go to the window and see.
Very slowly, she leaned over in her chair, reached under the desk and picked up the only weapon she had; an aluminum baseball bat. She could fend off a burglar easi

Yoshi sat in his room savouring the quiet time while it lasted. With four young turtles to care for these moments of peace and serenity were rare and cherished. Not that he would change the circumstances he now found himself in. Despite the hardships, the physical mutation and the sense of overwhelming responsibility Yoshi found himself strangely contented with his life.
Thinking of his four young sons brought a smile to his furred face. It had been almost two years since the blessed day he and his young turtle tots had been exposed to the mutagen which had transformed him into a giant rat and given his sons human DNA.
Now his son’s minds were the equivalent of four/five year old humans though their bodies were still small. They were a handful, with energy levels off the scale with a never ending t

April chuckled. “Yeah, well I assumed you reached your teasing quota for the day. Raph can be a bit of a jerk at times.”
“Well, we are brothers. It’s one of the sibling commandments: Thou shalt not live one day without tormenting the other.”
“Almost makes me glad I’m an only child,” said April, shouldering her backpack. “Then again, that’s why I have you guys to help fill the void.”
Although the comment was harmless, Donnie couldn’t help but wish April would stop seeing him as a brother. The old teen magazines that he read would call this “Friend Zoning,” which meant that your crush sees you as nothing more than a close friend or sibling. It

Master Splinter sat in his make-shift living room watching over his four toddlers as he meditated. It would be a wonder to anyone how the rat could concentrate with the ruckus the little ones made. He finished his meditation and opened his eyes to see two of them, Raphael and Michelangelo, wrestling around on the floor. He observed the two carefully to be sure they were not fighting, but after hearing only a few seconds of their laughter, he was certain no harm was being done.
Just outside the action, Donatello was sitting cross-legged while he sucked on his thumb and held his purple blanket to his cheek, laughing and smiling through his tired eyes that burdened him to sleepiness.
Splinter glanced at Leonardo who sat quietly watching a cartoon on the television, eyes wide and mouth agape. The colorful images and goofy sounds made him oblivious to the commotion his two younger brothers were making.

Donatello groaned and turned over in his bed, trying to block out the sound.
Eyes snapping open, Donnie furrowed his eyebrows and stared tiredly at the top of his and Mikey's double-bunk, sighing loudly.
"What Mikey?" He croaked, placing an arm over his eyes.
"No." Donnie replied with annoyance. Turning on his stomach, he smashed the pillow over his head and snapped,
"Go to bed."
Mikey blinked, and stared at the empty space above him. Biting his lip, he looked around. Dark, dark dark, nothing but dark. Man he was bored. Wide awake actually. Sitting up and stretching, he bent over the side of the bed and stared at his brother, who was now half-asleep. Mikey smiled mischievously. Time to have a little fun. Grinning, Mikey swiftly locked his legs onto the side of the bed and lowered himself to Donnie's face level. Breathing quietly, he whispered,

Settling down he waited, legs bent in anticipation of his pounce. The head turned, his view finally blocked by the shell and he moved. Leg muscles uncoiled pushing him forward in a ball of orange fur to attack the smaller unsuspecting turtle.
Spike turned his lazy gaze on Klunk as the hyperactive cat landed on his shell, meowing loudly as he batted the protective shell. The Value of a Name -TMNT--April/Donnie FF-- Quickly, she rushed into her room with the little container in her hands; not even pausing for her host but muttering a rushed greeting to her bewildered and slightly dizzy aunt as she rocketed by and flew upstairs in a red and yellow flash. April closed the door behind her and slowly now, made her way to a tank on her desk. It was a rather large tank; filled with pretty river stones, bright and deep green aquatic plants covering up the filter and water heater, a slightly bobbing platform floating upon the rarely disturbed surface of the half filled tank and a grated top keeping a lamp from falling in and toasting the few tiny needle-like fish that darted here and there throughout the tank. This was her masterpiece. A creation that had taken a lot of time, thought, research and allowance. In fact, this expensive stroke of brilliance had cost so much, she even had to dip into her lunch money; she could still feel the uncomfortable pricks of hunger pains against the flesh of her tThe Value of a Name -TMNT--April/Donnie FF--2 years ago in Romance More Like This

"Not like you wanted him either," Raph said, following behind Leo. "You were sending him with me."
"Let's go find Mikey," Leo said, leaving the ally way.

The cool breeze caressed Donatello’s skin like icy fingers. Autumn was approaching New York City and the snow would be falling soon. He didn’t know how he and his brothers would manage patrol with the winter approaching, but they could figure it out. They always did.
The mutant took a step, and for the first time in a long while was able to appreciate the silence while he was on patrol by himself. With the bustling city in the background, he had him and his thoughts to keep himself company.
Naturally, his mind shifted over to a certain red head in his life. April O’Neil seemed to always be on Donnie’s mind. Somehow he could be thinking one thing and it’d end up with her in the back of his subconscious. He could be inventing something or drawing out blue prints and suddenly her face is all he could see. It was frustrating, but deep down the mutant wouldn’t trade his thoughts for the world.

He sat on one of the lair's steps, staring at his green skin, observing every line, bump, wrinkle, and all of the different colorations of freckles that came into his eyes' view; tracing each imperfection that made him undeniably a mutant turtle.
He knew that he and his brothers' were by far different from those who inhabited the city above them and it wasn't a total shocker to him when people would run away screaming once they saw the four of them come out from the shadows to help those in need.
That idea really hadn't bothered him so much.
But when he saw her on that fateful night, he hoped that this time around, it would be different. He expected her to be a bit fearful at first, sure, but the possibility of her genuinely being afraid kind of scared him.
He hoped that he could take such a blow to his pride if she rejected him, but, realistically, he didn't know what was to become of it all. All he knew at that particular moment was that he liked her.

Mikey struggled. He was tied to a chair and his head was hurting. Shredder was standing over him. Their eyes met. Mikey looked into his captor's eyes. One eye was scarred. It creeped Mikey out just looking at him. There was an annoying blinking red light behind him.
"You know what this is?" Shredder asked pulling an object from behind his back.
"My…nunchaku," Mikey said. His blue eyes dulled as he saw his weapon in the hands of his enemy.
"That's right," Shredder said with a twisted smile. He stretched his arm out and quickly brought it back smacking Mikey with his own weapon. He gave Mikey a few more blows to the head with the weapon before using his clawed weapon on his hand to break the nunchaku in two.
Mikey's breathing was uneven, his head was sore. "S-stop," he said helplessly. Shredder gave a low laugh.
"Splinter must pay for what he has done!" With his claw-like blade he made a gash on Mikey's arm, causing him to whimper. After several more attack

The ding of the oven shook April out of her thoughts and woke up her senses. The smell of vanilla wafted in the air and tickled her nose. The teenager smiled and inhaled the heavenly scent.
Putting a glove on, April opened the oven and took out the cake she had been slaving over for a few hours now. She let it cool, taking out frosting and a plate for the cake. Once it was cool enough, April set the cake onto the plate and began to decorate it.
Honestly, April wasn't much of a chef. She wasn't horrible at cooking, but left that to her dad and her aunt. But she was quite proud of herself for making the cake. Not only did it smell good, it looked good.

The dojo had always had this...scent to it that Magdalene Hamato couldn't quite figure out. It was musky with age and had a hint of something fresh, like jasmine. It reminded her of the inside of one of her friends' grandmothers home. Old and flowery. But unlike the old woman's home, the dojo didn't also smell like prunes. It had something appealing to it that her friend's grandmother's home didn't.
A hand was placed on her head and Maggie felt herself smile at the familiar warmth of the long, thing fingers against her scalp.
