This journal exists because the other one's getting old and i needed something to keep this interesting. Also, the amateurish journal skin i created years ago annoys me and since i'm an absolute N00b when it comes to CSS i thought it would be best to finally remove it.
The last nights i was biking through our town to do nightshift (i love doing that. Not a single soul around and you realise how quiet even the civilised parts of the world can get) and while letting my thoughts flow i was grabbed by some intense nostalgia for some reason. I remembered my childhood especially and....how ridiculously naive i used to be back then. The way i saw the world, all the things i had to learn and understand first (the very anatomy of „sarcasm" for example).
I remembered some cases that appear especially wondrous to me nowadays when i think about it so i thought it would be funny if i share some of them.

an introduction to my Anthro universe.. :PI got a question the other day, about what dog breed Sam and Saunders in their anthro form is supposed to be.an introduction to my Anthro universe.. :P3 years ago in Personal More Like This
I started answering the comment, but soon found out it would just end up being a looooong reply... And I thought, as I wrote, that maybe others would be interested in what breed they and their relatives are, as well as Spike's breed, some character origins, how the people (or anthro) in my little fictive universe views their fellow inhabitants, and a bit of history around this whole thing.
Therefore, I'm deciding on writing a journal entry about this.
The different breeds.
Saunders and Sam were originally, when I first created and designed them, supposed to be Golden Retrievers. Thus, they did in fact both have floppy, furry ears just like the Golden has. For some reason, I felt this made the characters look sad, so I changed - I think - Saunders' ears first to stand up just like a Terrier's ears. Sam's ears changed shortly after. I kept this change as I thought it ma

Why do we choose to live?
It’s a cruel fate when you really think about it,
we’re brought forth and put on this planet,
and must shuffle through life just like any other individual.
All the while, we go through life doing what we must,
whether we enjoy it or not.
Jobs, bills, and the day-to-day “rules” of our lives that must be obeyed,
as if we are just disposable tools that are only here to help life spin on.
We do our jobs, die and then are replaced by the next unsuspecting soul.
We are like any type of a geared watch or clock really,
(We are more pocket watches than any other kind of clock, in my opinion)
we are made and wound up so we may start and lead our own lives.
and sometimes our gears break and we stop ticking for a bit,
and for some of us we can just be easily fixed up again or rewound,
but some others are not so lucky and they feel as if

Protect yourself against fraudAlthough, as an active member of the community, it's nearly impossible to have missed this huge issue, I think it's very important to warn people for this.Protect yourself against fraud1 year ago in Deviant Events More Like This
What happened is a large case fraud in which apparently one user (under multiple names) scammed several members of DeviantArt community. Leaving some people as much as $3000 in debt!!! Money they, most likely, never see back.
Even though the user is banned by DeviantArt now, there's no reason why it won't happen again.
After all, the problem is caused by a loophole in PayPal's rules. So basically everybody that's using PayPal for its business (and that's a lot of us) is at risk.
People doing commissions
People selling adoptables
To understand where all of this comes from, it's first of all important to know what a PayPal chargeback actually is.
This video offers a proper explanation of what chargeback is, and what it should
New Mickey Mouse CartoonsHave any of you been watching these? Animator Paul Rudish (famous for Dexter's Laboratory and Samurai Jack) has been hired to do 19 animated shorts featuring Mickey Mouse and company. The cartoons are, naturally, very graphic and reminiscent of the 1930's "rubber limb" style, but with a modern twist. Here's a sample:New Mickey Mouse Cartoons2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Sorry fans from other countries, but apparently this is only for American viewership Although I am told that if you install something called ProxMate in your browser you can unblock them for your region...
As of this journal there are 4 of the 19 shorts currently available on YouTube under the names New York Weenie, Yodelberg, Croissant de Triomphe, and No Service.

XBOne... fixed. To everyone who says picking on Microsoft for their consumer unfriendly bullshit was "being unnecessarily mean," take a look at this. Don Mattrick just announced that Microsoft is back peddling with the XBOne, removing the disastrously awful features we've been bashing them for trying to inflict on us.XBOne... fixed.2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Last week at E3, the excitement, creativity and future of our industry was on display for a global audience.
For us, the future comes in the form of Xbox One, a system designed to be the best place to play games this year and for many years to come. As is our heritage with Xbox, we designed a system that could take full advantage of advances in technology in order to deliver a breakthrough in game play and entertainment. We imagined a new set of benefits such as easier roaming, family sharing, and new ways to try and buy games. We believe in the benefits of a connected, digital future.

Don't Panic: It's NaNoWriMo!“Perhaps I'm old and tired, but I always think that the chances of finding out what really is going on are so absurdly remote that the only thing to do is to say hang the sense of it and just keep yourself occupied.” ― Douglas Adams, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the GalaxyDon't Panic: It's NaNoWriMo!1 year ago in Deviant Events More Like This
Don't panic, it's a stressful time for a lot of writers, but that's why we write. NaNoWriMo is easily one of the more terrifying events which wants you to do a lot of writing. Some people choose to write an entire novel and some people choose to do otherwise. The fun thing about this event is a lot of people are doing it and a lot of people are just as scared of going in blind as you are. This is the month were your strengths, your quirks, and your mild attention span will be tested with the name of the game: National November Writing Month.

You Don't Deserve a DDYou might deserve a Nobel Prize (pluripotent stem cells omg). You Don't Deserve a DD3 years ago in Literature Features More Like This
You might deserve an Olympic gold medal.
But you're never, ever going to deserve a Daily Deviation.
neuropls what is this.
Dudes, a DD is a feature, not an award. There's no objective standard that goes 'here you deserve a big prize now.' Hell, it's not even about the artist being a talented young newbie or a curmudgeonly old fart.
It's about the art.
It's about bringing underexposed art to the forefront for a whole day—yeah, as far as features go this one is probably a bigger deal than being in a journal only twenty people click on, but at the end of the day it's still a feature. Nothing wrong with getting excited over it (or peeing yourself or wondering whom you managed to piss off), but it's not exactly resume material.
So now that we've gotten that out of the way…. There's the occasiona
The Dining Philosophers - a ProblemEpicurus muttered, "None of this affects me at all," excused himself, and slipped out the back door practically unnoticed. That left the table unbalanced. On one side were the ancient worlders: Plato and Aristotle, heads together in deep discussion, and Socrates, who appeared to be gently questioning Miletus while Sextus Empiricus studiously withheld judgement on the proceedings. The opposite end of the table was mostly held by the enlightenment gang, with Lao-Tze as the sole outlier, holding down the farthest end of the table as he watched the proceedings, imperturbably. Voltaire had given up on his hopes of getting Lao-Tze to appreciate his witticisms, and shifted his focus to Rousseau, who was trying to hide behind the equally imperturbable bulk of David Hume. Neitzsche was berating Hume, loudly, and making wickedly poetic assertions that made Spinoza occasionally put his head down and "facepalm" though he quickly converted the gesture to what appeared to be a thoughtful forehead-rubThe Dining Philosophers - a Problem3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Tired of the Video Game IndustryWith the PS4 on the way, the gaming industry is alive once again reminding us how dull and boring and... wrong... it is. Here's a quick summary of some of the things I'm sick to death of hearing about when it comes to video games.Tired of the Video Game Industry3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Polygones = Emotion
I'm sure you've all seen the jokes, but this one stems from David Cage, who gushed over the tech demo of an old man's face for the PS4, remarking about how the only way to get "true" emotion is by bridging the uncanny valley with high resolution models, hi-def textures, and realistic shaders. "True emotion" of course can't be found in books, TV, or cartoons because none of those things can depict the exquisite details of a wrinkled face in true HD glory. I'm sorry to say this, David Cage, but if I can get an emotional response out of 16-bit pixel sprites from Chrono Trigger, or a pictureless book... your logic is faulty.
I'm really getting tired of everything wanting to connect to everything else. I know
How to Stay Inspired and Focused on Your WritingLiterature Basics WeekHow to Stay Inspired and Focused on Your Writing1 year ago in Deviant Events More Like This
Our world is so full of noise and distraction. It’s no wonder “Walden” is a classic—Thoreau had time and quiet in which to write it! And plenty of inspiration from nature.
So how do we focus, as writers, on our craft? Even if it’s our passion, sometimes it takes a lot of effort to sit down and just write—especially if we struggle with attention or hyperactivity, whether diagnosed or not.
As someone who has studied both academic writing and reading in college and graduate school, and a veteran of National Poetry Writing Month for 7 years and National Novel Writing Month for one, I can attest that intentional writing, for fun or for a grade, is not easy to focus on, especially without a good writing environment.
So what to do? Many professional writers will tell you just one simple thing: write. James Patterson said, “The trick is making writing into a daily habit. Same time. Same place. Same hot beverage of choice.

The One True King of KingsIt’s amazing how a 60-year-old product of postwar nuclear paranoia can still be so important to people’s lives to this day. I have a lot to thank Godzilla for, so much to the point that, if I had a gun to my head, and had to declare a religion (ANY religion), I’d point at the Big Guy and say “That one.”The One True King of Kings1 year ago in Personal More Like This
That’s right. My god can beat up your god.
Anywho, it’s also amazing to see where Godzilla is now compared to…man, even 10 years ago. And ESPECIALLY 16 years ago. We’ve essentially seen this character tried to be taken down and twisted into something he’s not, and then rise from the beaten, bruised ashes only when a meek British director reminded everyone that we just need to step back and let him be Godzilla.
A favorite quote of mine, from the series, is the line from Godzilla and Mothra: Battle for the Earth (1992).
"This is beyond our present knowledge or understanding."
