"Ma, why are we doing this?"
"Because his mother and I are good friends and we want you both to be friends, too!"
BLU Scout and his mother were going to meet RED Scout and his mother.
"But Ma! We are enemys! We are supposed to hate and kill each other!"
"I don't care, hon'! You have holidays, so you won't kill each other! Oh look, I can see them already!"
Both mothers ran up to each other giving each other a friendly hug. Both Scout stared at each other.
Both mothers were talking about some girly stuff, like shopping. Both Scouts didn't talk really much.
"You're so dead!", both said suddenly at the same time.
And the torture began.
First of all they did the most awkward thing ever: they went shopping with their mothers. The Scouts were teasing each other.
"Hey, BLU retard! This pink shirt would fit to a girl like you!"
"Oh yeah? Then look at this skirt! It would fit you with that shirt, RED dumbass!"
"Look at this jacket for little girls! Because you are

A black haze hung over the base, thick rainclouds hiding the sunlight and pouring a heavy rain down on the land below it. The water furiously tapped the roof and windows. It pooled in large puddles on the dirt and filled the sewers, sending through each base the odour of sewage and rainwater. Storms happened on occasion on the war grounds, some worse than others. This was the worst storm that had been seen in a long while. The thunder shook the floors and windows, the lights flickered, and the roof creaked. All missions had been cancelled due to the nature of this storm, so both teams, RED and BLU, had a day to themselves for the first time in what seemed like forever. Despite this, both teams dreaded the aftermath of rain, knowing that when the storm finally cleared up, they would be battling in mud and puddles.
All was quiet on the RED base. Most of the mercenaries had decided to use the day to relax. It was like this in stormy weather. The mercenaries had come to like each other's c

"Not so cocky are you,Jeff?" The RED sniper said with a grin on his face as he places his foot on the shoulder of Jeff, BLU's sniper. Blood dripped from Jeff's nose as he refused to look, let alone acknowledge the RED sniper in front of him. After a minute he found the voice to reply. "Fuck you,Dale" Was all he replied. He had lost the fight, these two have been at eachother's throats for a few weeks now, only currently having the chance to beat the shit out of each other.
Ignoring Jeff's words, Dale watched a snake made it's way over to his chair. The man chuckled, and let the female reptilian crawl up his arm. "Well aren't you a cute,Shelia~" Dale purred as he started to rub his index finger under the snake's head. "I think I might fall asleep like this." Dale commented, chuckling wickedly as he watch Jeff bleed, and suffer infront of him.
Machines At Their FinestUnder this calm demeanour I am a murderer. My family however, doesn't see me as such.Machines At Their Finest3 years ago in Short Stories More Like This
My family are murderers. I too am a murderer.
True that it isn't often you'll find me disembowelling the enemy like the rest of them on the battlefield.
Not by hand anyway.
I am a handyman. A jack of all trades.
Its these trades that keep me alive.
On bloodless days my family ask me to fix broken things. Doesn't matter what it is, anything will do as long as my hands and mind are kept busy.
Perhaps this is why I'm not considered a killer?
I often wonder to myself, "what makes a murderer? The hands that use the weapon that kills? Or the hands that built the weapon that kills?"
What happens if both components of that phrase applies to myself?
Surely if either one makes a murderer, then both would make a monster?
While my family rush around the battlefield, dodging bullets, screaming, enraged, fighting for their lives, I'll be sitting. Waiting.
Waiting for that one sorry bastard to walk into

Despite it being in the middle of the night, Scout opted to fill the tub up with hot water so he and the Spycrab can catch up and wash themselves. The Spycrab sat on the top of Scout's knee and started things off, mostly with what he learned about his replacement that could help Scout in the future.
Scout listened as he washed himself with the bar of soap, nodding occasionally with what the cursed Spy was telling him. The new Spy's fear of crabs - mostly talking crabs- made the young RED laugh, not as hard as he did when learning that his nemesis was a virgin - like him- but it was still hilarious. The crab continued, talking about the mishap on the field; The Announcer's calls and colliding missiles from the Soldiers that resulted in half the field being wiped out. The two debated about what happened. They both agreed in the end that is was probably just a communication error, hopefully something that would be fixed and the injured mercenaries

" Hey, uh, Sniper?"
" Da hell are you doin' on top of the fridge, man?"
"'S called 'planking', ya little ankle biter."
Scout proceeded to get a glass of milk and Heavy's sandvich from the fridge, and was already seated at the table before it fully registered that his question hadn't been answered.
" Wait, what?"
Sniper gave a long, weary sigh similar to the one Scout's mom gave that one time he asked why her hair was suddenly ten times the size of her head in middle school. "Plankin', mate. It's an Aussie thing. Ya go up on somethin' strange an' lie down on it like ya were a piece of wood."
Scout stared at him like he'd grown a second head. " WHY?"
"BECAUSE, THAT'S WHY," Sniper snapped irritably.

The Scout groaned as he opened his eyes, only to shut them again when he made eye contract with the florescent lights from above. He let out a loud sigh, a little angry at himself for passing out from exhaustion in the RED Spy's arms. How embarrassing, and slightly gay. Kind of.
"Oh, you are...awake." said a nervous voice.
It didn't take Scout long to realize he was place halfway on a hospital bed with his legs dangling over the edge. Along with the excruciating pain when he felt cold metal prodding inside his bullet wound. Was he dreaming again? The sudden wave of pain answered his question quickly.
"AH SHIT!!" Scout screamed, about to sit up, only to have his shoulders grabbed and pulled back down on the bed.
"Calm down there, son." said a gruff, yet oddly soothing voice. Texan. Yep, that was the RED Engineer grabbing him and holding him in place.
The other hand on his leg, that belonged to the Medic. Now it was all clear. The

It began snowing again. Eventually forming into a snowstorm that kept both sides cooped inside till it cleared up. The Scout took the opportunity to begin his research through the book of paranormal studies. He locked himself in his room and sat on his bed, silently reading through the book, cover to cover. The Spycrab could only watch, feeling a bit helpless due to his form. Desperately, he wished he could help the Scout in some way - or that he at least knew something that would help lift his own curse. That wasn't going to happen anytime soon, but at least he kept the new BLU Spy away from the RED Scout. That was really the only bright side he could find.
The next few days were clear weather, allowing the teams to battle again. Leaving the Spycrab to only watch the fight from the window. At the end of the day, the Scout would return, shower quickly, then resume reading the book - Almost like clockwork.
The Scout eventually finished the book, only

You worked for Dedan, Guardian of Zone 1. He was nicer to you than his Elsen, but he was still an ass. Today, he had you cutting open cows and extracting the rocks from them. It was right after lunch, which you lost in the process of working. He was an okay boss, but he worked you 'till your hands were bone. "Dedan, I'm going home... I'd like to get this shit off of me before it dries." you grumbled. "Yeah, fine, whatever." he was obviously focusing and didn't want to be disturbed. You walked the Elsen filled streets, stopping and saying hi to Zacharie and the Batter on the way. It was dark by the time you got home. Because Zone 1 was filled with Elsen, you had no worries about murderers and rapists. The Elsen were extremely shy and timid, even around you. You unlocked the door to your apartment and walked in, to be greeted by a soft and gentle "Mrow!""Pablo... How do you k

Medic took a gasp as he respawned. It was never easy, but this time, he wanted to scream. But, he found himself unable, even though his mouth was open. He grabbed his throat, feeling a nasty scar, and whimpered. He found a corner of the respawn room, and curled up, not wanting to go back out onto the battlefeild. He pulled his knees up to his chin, closing his eyes and whimpering. He felt tears well up in his eyes, and did nothing to stop them from flowing.
He did not see the BLU Sniper as he respawned, clutching his head.
"Fuckin' brat... Damn, that hurt!" Sniper muttered, looking around for the Medic. He rushed over, kneeling down in front of the man.
"M-medic...? You okay...?"
He fell back when the Medic tackled him, burying his face in Sniper's shirt, still crying. Sniper held him, as the young man sobbed quietly.
"It's okay, Medic.... I'm right here, and I'll protect you..."
Alfons grunted as he respawned, reaching back and rubbing where Gerald's knife went. He

The BLU barracks were quieter than usual. Morale was down; everyone knew why, but until that night, no one had talked about it.
Demoman, Sniper and Scout sat around a small table, playing an unusually subdued game of cards. For a time, the only sounds were mumbled announcements for the purpose of the game and the clank of a bottle of scotch that Demoman was rapidly emptying.
"... finishin' it off pretty quick tonight, there," Scout remarked, sounding three seconds away from punching someone in the face even in the calm but melancholy room. His only reward for breaking the silence was a half-hearted grunt from the Scotsman.
"Not that that's any different from usual," Sniper said with a quiet chuckle. "Mind if I 'ave a drink?"
"Ye always ask for just one drink an' ya end up takin' two, ya bawbag. Aw, just take the rest of it," Demoman grumbled, though he couldn't help but grin a little as he shoved the bottle towards Sniper. He didn't mind giving it up. It wasn't like there was much left

Medic squirmed in the arms of the Spy behind him. He whimpered, scared and unsure of what to do. He wanted to scream, but he was scared the Spy would slit his throat.
"Ma Petit.... You are better in person, than what I expected. So small, so perfect..." He heard the Spy whsiper into his ear. Medic started stammering in German, too nervous and scared to form English sentences. The Spy just laughed, nuzzling the smaller man's neck. Medic was whimpering and shaking, rambling on in German. He felt the Spy nuzzling his neck again, and freaked out more. Suddenly, he saw a glint. Sniper! He wiggled more, then started screaming.
"Hilf! Hilf!" He started screaming for help, hoping someone was around to help him. Suddenly, a little blue dot appeared on his chest. He knew Sniper was trying to aim for the Spy. Medic froze, giving Sniper a chance to get the Spy, but the Spy was too quick. He ducked down behind Medic, his butterfly knife out in an instant and aimed for Medic's throat.

This time, this place
Too long, too late
Who was I to make you wait
I have loved you all along
And I miss you
Been far away for far too long
I keep dreaming you'll be with me
and you'll never go
Stop breathing if I don't see you anymore
On my knees, I'll ask
Last chance for one last dance
'Cause with you, I'd withstand
All of hell to hold your hand
I'd give it all, I'd give for us
Give anything but I won't give up
I wanted you to stay
I need to hear you say
That I love you
I have loved you all along
And I forgive you
For being away for far too long
So keep breathing
'Cause I'm not leaving you anymore
Hold onto me and never let me go

By the time you find this, you'll have figured out where I got off to, I’m sure. You’re probably trying not to talk about it, trying to forget I was ever there if you can, and reading a letter from me isn’t helping matters. I don’t blame you for that; you’ve got no reason to think kindly of me. But regardless of how you feel about it, you need to know why I left. This letter isn’t an excuse; it’s a warning.
I don’t know specifics about your situations, but when Miss Pauling came to me with that clipboard of hers I wasn’t in a position to turn her down. I’d done something bad. Lost my temper, see. And without some kind of divine intervention I was looking at a long stay in the state penitentiary. A few nights after that talk, Sniper was woken up in the middle of the night by loud banging on his trailer door. Groggily, he stumbled over to the door, and opened it, growling a bit. The person banging squeeked, and he realized it was the Medic.
"H-her Sniper.... Entschuldige.... I...." A loud explosion behind him made the man squeek and jump forward, nearly knocking the half-asleep Sniper over.
"What th' hell...?" The explosion came from their own base... Had the enemy infiltrated?
"H-her Soldier.... H-he suddenly started screaming at me, v-vaking me up.... I don't know vhy....."
Another explosion shook the base, and Medic darted past Sniper, crawling into the bed and hiding under the covers. Sniper could hear him whimpering. He sighed and closed the door, walking over and sitting on the bed.
"Medic... Are you okay, mate?" He asked, patting the lump in the bed that was the doctor. The lump shuffled, and a pair of blue eyes peered out at Sniper from under the blankets.

Over the next few battles, Sniper found himself looking out for the little Medic. He'd often catch sight of the German while hunting for REDs, and would find himself watching the man work. He'd often snipe just the REDs coming after the younger man, ignoring the rest of the team totally(they can take care of themselves, he often said). He found that Medic wasn't ever fully relaxed, not even when hidden from the REDs and attempting to rest.
One day, before battle, Sniper pulled Medic to the side.
"V-vat is... Wrong, Herr Sniper?"
"I saw you yesterday, during battle. You seem to not be able to rest during battle. I know that a good moment's rest will help you out, but you can never find that rest. Follow me, when the battle starts, okay?"
Medic nodded, and when the battle started, he trailed the Australian, to a small wooden tower. After climbing a few flights of stairs, they came to a small room, with a door that locked. After Medic stepped in, Sniper turned and shut the do

The celebration lasted the night. There was drinking, singing, and other forms of partying. Medic had his fair share of drinks, which amused much of the team, since the tiny man was quite talkative when he was drunk. Of course, no one could understand a word he said, but it still amused them.
At about midnight, Sniper felt a tug on his shirt. He turned, to find the little Medic, looking up at him. Sniper set down his drink, and turned to the German.
"Hey there, Medic... What's up?"
The smaller man fidgeted, before leaning against the Australian. Sniper could tell, that Medic wasn't as drunk as he was hours earlier, and it shocked him to see the German lean against him so willingly. Still, he couldn't help but wrap an arm around the young man.
"I... Vas zhinking about vhat you said earlier.... How you... Don't vant to lose me. Vhat did you mean by zhat, Herr Sniper?"

In the weeks that followed, Sniper and Medic got closer and closer. But, the RED Spy became more and more persistant, to the point where he targeted only Medic. Sniper would often lose sight of the young German, only to see him shuffling out of Respawn, often behind their Pyro(who seemed to grow quite fond of the little German, and would do its best to protect him when possible).
A knock on the door startled Sniper, who was busy taunting the enemy Pyro with body shots(he enjoyed teasing the enemy that way).
"Who's there?" He barked out, barely glancing over to the door.
"I-it's me, Herr Sniper..."
"What's the code word?" Another body shot, the Pyro freaking out and looking around for where they were coming from.
Sniper stood up and walked over to the door, unlocking it and opening it. Medic stood there, blood on his suit and a deep gash on his arm. He was shaking, and Sniper saw tears in his eyes.

The RED Engineer was getting rather annoyed at the RED Spy. The Frenchman was muttering about being cut, with a wild grin on his face. He REALLY didn't like the way the man was rambling on.
"He cut me! Th-that means.... THAT MEANS!"
His outburst caused the Texan to jump in surprise.
"That means what, pardner?"

The words were barely a whisper, but Engie heard them.
"I... Don't think that's what it means, Spah..." Engie backed off, letting the man put the jacket back on. He couldn't help but notice the man didn't wince, but looked blissful when moving the sliced-open shoulder.
