Of course, it had to be frogs. Serena stepped over them as best she could, but they were everywhere. It wasn't the kind of thing you expected to see in smallish town America. One or two, maybe. Any more than that and you're wading into witch burning territory.
Serena really didn't want to wade into witch burning territory.
“What seems to be the problem?” Serena asked, “Aside from the frogs.”
Mrs. Caprica wrung her hands---Serena had never actually seen anyone do that. Truth be told, she'd rather not see it again. The woman had probably been wound too tightly even before any of this happened.
“We just wanted a baby,” she said.
“And you tried to invoke...”
“Heqet,” she said, “She's Egyptian. Ancient Egyptian, I mean.”
“I know who she is,” Serena said, as gently as she could. The frogs were staring a little too intently.

Blood BrothersBrookie always holds my hand when we cross the street. She's never given a reason for it, she just does it. It's become this unspoken rule with us that whenever we cross the street together, she slips her hand in mine and I lace my fingers through hers and we walk hand-in-hand until we reach the other side and she drops her hand and we both wipe our palms on our jeans. Brookie's a little scared of crossing the street. Her poppa died in a car crash when we were six. He was a pedestrian. Brookie is my best friend going on sixteen years now, which is pretty impressive considering we're both sixteen. We don't have some cute little story about how we were born in the same hospital on the same day or about how our mothers were best friends long before they were pregnant with us and somehow passed on that bond while we were still in utero. No, Brookie and I met the same way ever

Collar looks like a rose, rose
Trying out another sweet pose, pose
Pour another cup of tea, tea

Trying to look a little bit cla-ss-yyyy...
Got a parasol to boot

Alright, that's okay, so I'm not a lolita,
Just another trashy popstar sucking down margaritas

Singing 'bout getting plastered
Using up people faster
So many tricks I've mastered

We were walking through the jungle. And came upon a vast clearing. 60 feet across. Fearing the dangers of the dark jungle, I decided to lead the team into the clearing to make our camp. We reached the center and began to pitch our tents. Mind you it was pitch black, but for our lanterns. Dead of night with barely a sliver of moon.
Never truly relaxed, I still felt a certain degree of reassurance. I felt this place would be safe. It wasn't until we got the fire going that I felt something watching us. I kept stealing glances into the murky darkness of the jungle that surrounded us. Under our chatter and the clatter of pots, I could hear a dark murmuring. As the meal came to a close, I put my back to the fire. When my colleagues asked why, I bluffed them. I told them my back was cold and I wished to warm it be

Robin was nervous as Chrom led her into his chambers. Only a few hours ago they were announced husband and wife. Everything was happening so quickly, but she knew that she couldn’t delay what would have to happen before they would be called back to the battlefield once more to protect the citizens of Ylisse. The tactician looked over at Chrom; she had grown to love Ylisse as much as he and she would die for the country to have its peace if necessary.
She could recall the event that happened after their wedding. Chrom had led Robin to a balcony where down below revealed the citizens all staring up at them with joyous expressions.
“Queen Robin!” They shouted with love, it stunned Robin. The title of queen had been bestowed upon her the moment she began walking down the aisle. Chrom put an arm around her waist, pulling her closer to him. A blush spread across her cheeks as he smiled handsomely to her.
“It seems they love you already.” The

I am death, of course,

Is it too much?
To run my fingers through your hair?

In a world where everyone has a unique ability, one that defines them and shapes their image towards others, to have no power is strange and frowned upon. In other words, those who are normal are seen as the freaks of society.
The majority of people realise their ability at age five, yet I was ten years old and still nothing. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't figure out my powers, if I had any at all. It was pure gold for the other children; they were vultures just waiting for an opportunity to make someone else inferior to them.
I had only just turned ten when it happened. I was enjoying my time alone during the morning break, even though humans are social I knew my place wasn't among them. As usual, the local kids had found my hiding place among the trees in the school grounds and decided it was about time for them to feel superior again. I froze as the footsteps slowly became louder and quicker, how many were they this time? There were too many

She had listened to this invitation sixteen times over, perhaps seventeen if she counted the instance in the bath, and still, she had no peace. The implications were quite astounding; an invitation, from the future Queen of the Earth herself, to travel across time and space itself, to join other senshi and form a large community, and, hopefully, it seems to her, to assure others that the Queen acknowledged their existence.
It's quite soothing, if she is to be honest with herself. Maybe that's why she's packing this very moment, why she chose to go, her suitcase consisting more of books and papers and ink than anything. She had r

Alfred sat on his bed quietly, watching the empty bed across from him. His school was a big strong and wealthy one so the dorm rooms were a fair size bigger than he had expected when he had first visited the campus. But now it felt so cramped and small. He avoided the room because every move he made seemed to bring him to something relating to his ex.
Ivan was rarely there but Alfred could always feel his presence. But today, he couldn't avoid him. He needed to confront him, whether he wanted to talk or not.
This proved to be troubling task because Ivan would usually get back after Alfred was asleep so the American had to fight his fatigue as he waited for the taller man to get back. The clock was pushing midnight by the time Ivan stepped in.
He looked around surprised to see the lights on but only glanced at Alfred before taking off his boots and crossing to the bathroom to brush his teeth. Alfred could see his back from his perch, the man's scarf trailing down between his shoulder bl
HiNaBN: Abridged VersionOnce upon a time, in a place where it actually snows in the winter, there lived a 24-year-old man-child named HANNA MOTHERFUCKIN' CROSS. Hanna rented a custodian closet in a shanty old apartment complex, which was good enough for him because he had terrible judgment on where to live and he was always alone anyway. When Talking To DragonsWhen in the presence of a dragon...When Talking To Dragons2 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
You must stay calm,
and let your fears wave away.
Like the gentle pull of the ocean.
They look down on you with slender eyes.
Judging your every breath.
As you shallowly take in your gasps,
like quick streams of water rushing down a steep hill.
When speaking to dragons...
You must be brave.
Act with confidence that your words speak well,
and go without vexation or indignation
For a wrong word could mean termination.
They will listen to what you have to say
with the ears of a thousand mocking birds.
Until of course you speak astray,
and the rest is left to their flaming breath
When listening to dragons...
You must behave.
Allow them their prudence and wisdom,
for dragons are the perfect beings.
And they know all.
Why do you wish, oh young one, to consult the dragons?
Is it because your lost is a world without paths?
A world so dark and without any maps?
Does the life you live serve you no happiness?
Is it your own kind to blame?

The banging on his door and persistent buzzing were sounds he was trained to respond to, even from amidst the deepest of dreams. He was halfway out of bed before he even realized he was awake. Jamming the door release, the door slid open, tumbling the rouser forward into his arms. Still half awake, his brain didn't know what to make of the opposing signals it was receiving--the alarm was familiar, but it was Karina who had fallen into the room.
"Sam, please, let me in," she urged, pressing him backwards into his quarters and hurriedly slapping at the door release button, the frightened body language not abating until the door was shut, and even then, only slightly.
By this point he was aware that there was no alarm sounding, he was not being roused from sleep for a sudden duty, but by his close friend. "Kari! Kari... what's going on?" He had to grab her shoulders to make her look at him instead of furtively around the room; there was fear written in her face he'd never seen before.
