why I've lost touch to this placeI don't quite know how it happened that exactly tonight the idea for creating a post like this crept up to me, and the longer I think of it I see no particular reason either. it's one of these things that rambles in the back of your mind for long enough, yet you're never too aware of it ... and all of the sudden it bursts out to the world, or it is willing to, and you are the one to choose if you want that to be.
now I've been on this website for long enough and it's either me or the website that changed in order for me to feel about it the way I do; even though I believe it is not quite the latter. I remember these times where I adored this website and it meant so much to me so I ended up spending ages browsing the width of galleries and art we have on here; now that hasn't changed, I'm still fascinated by some things that I find.
yet what something inside of me started to think is that this place has become yet another place that just scratches along the surface and doesn't dig deepe

A Note on Daily Deviation FeaturesAt ten features into my tenure as Community Volunteer for Abstract & Surreal Photography I am noticing a certain trend in response to abstract and surreal Daily Deviations. I shall address some of the recurring themes here, and hopefully answer some questions along the way. At this point I would like to mention that I am talking about a small and vocal minority, and I sincerely thank the overwhelming majority for supporting the featured artists and their work. You're what makes this site such a great community.A Note on Daily Deviation Features2 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
With that said, let's get to the troublesome themes I am coming across.
The "This is crap!" Argument
As an observer and a critic, you're entitled to think that something isn't very good. However, exclaiming as such on the comments of a piece of work that an artist has spent time and energy creating is not only counter-productive, but rude and insulting, especially if it's not followed up with some advice about how you think they could make their

"Is this Miss Halliburton?"
"Who on earth is calling me at this time of night?"
"Take a guess."
"I—what? Who is this?"
"Wow, you don't even recognize my voice. I'm offended."
"Is this some sort of prank call?"
"After all we went through."
"If you don't tell me who you are and why you're calling, I'm hanging up right now. It is too damn early for this."
"Then I'll just call again. Well, actually, don't hang up, I've only got fifty cents left."
"For God's sake, who the is this?"
"I already told you to guess, Ilex—I thought you were clever."
"Took you long enough."
"Simon, it is two in the morning. What is wrong with you?"
"Well, I've got six pounds of shit building up in my airways, I can't breathe without an oxygen tank and I'm an asshole."
"I already knew that. Now why are you calling me in the middle of the night—and did I hear you say you're at a payphone?"
"Yes, there's one on the bottom floor of the hospital."
"What are you doi
the good don't stayI blinked, shifted and cringed. My body was sore, my mind was cloudy and everything throbbed, especially my feet. I blinked a few more times. Goodness, my eyelids were heavy and my wrists itched—how scratchy the blanket upon my chest was! I took in a deep breath and tried to get past the blurriness.the good don't stay2 years ago in Personal More Like This
"It looks like we have a survivor. How are you feeling?"
Turning my head, I saw a white coat, and as my eyes drifted up, there was a stethoscope, assorted pens stuffed inside a pocket, a clean-shaven chin and grey eyes. I opened my mouth, but closed it again, because my tongue was dry and I really didn't feel like talking to anyone. Honestly, I was awful at dying. Everything was trying to do me in, even myself, but I just wouldn't.
And then shame filled me when what I had done truly sunk in:
I could have died.
I wiggled my fingers—I was alive.
"How am I feeling?" I rasped as my old temper was aroused by the absurdity of the doctor's question. "I feel fine. Absolutely goddamn dandy. N

Every piece takes a part of me with it.
If you don't like the bloody mess
my words leave behind,
I love this site, I love my followers.
But, I have never wanted to leave this site more then I do right now.
I can't take all this negative attention and controversy my writing brings to the surface.
Update: I'm not leaving, I just feel like I have to really watch what I say. And I shouldn't have to feel this way.
I shouldn't have to censor myself. And I wont, for anyone.

It's 1961, and to support herself and prepare for nursing school the subsequent fall, eighteen-year-old Holly Halliburton becomes a member of a very peculiar agency. They are called "The League of Bedside Sympathizers", or at least that is their official title, though nobody seems to know what it means nor where it originated. Her job? To provide solace and smooth the transition between life and death for hospital patients who have no living or reachable kin. Having successfully undergone four separate "transitions", serious, soft-spoken Holly feels as though she is prepared for anything the agency throws her way. That is, until she is thrust to the bedside of Simon Dalaigh, a melancholy, spirited and blunt young man dying from acute Cystic Fibrosis of the lungs. Their unusual circumstances eventually throw them together int

I'm just lying on my couch, today is looking pretty boring.
But I remember what the Mayans said 3,000 years ago,
Now I'm getting pretty worried, it's too soon for me to go.
But that's all right.
And that's ok.
The apocalypse is coming, just
It's the end of the world,
No, I've never fought a nerd,
But I'm a Nerdfighter today.
It's the end of the world,
And it's the end of John and Hank,
But when it comes to being awesome
We've got no one more to thank.
It's the end of the world,
and we're running out of luck,
But with the help of all you nerds
We've fought a lot of worldsuck.
It's the end of the world,
But I don't really mind.
For whatever time we're here
There's so much awesome left to find.
And that's all right.
And that's ok.
The apocalypse is coming, just
It's the end of the world,
I'm gonna really miss those Greens
With their giraffe mating videos
And Pizza John tees.
It's the end of the world

A bit of analsis pertaining Jack Frost, RotG.The Unsolicited Jack Frost Post of ProlixityA bit of analsis pertaining Jack Frost, RotG.2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I'm sorely tempted to dedicate this entire wall-o'-text-to-be to the character of Jack Frost; DuchessAliana would understand the necessity of doing something like that.
So, if you are reading this mess, I made this:
This ship, you guys.
But, anyway, first and foremost: the kids in that theater didn't realise the sheer wonderment and perfection of this film, which would explain the loud chatter and them repeating the characters dialogue throughout the 97 minutes.
And as understandable as that is, I did find myself sitting there trying not to turn around and point to the screen and yell "SHUT YOUR PIEHOLE I'M TRYING TO WATCH
JACK FROSTTHIS WORK OF ART, GOD DAMN IT" at them - see note at end.
But Rise of the Guardians was brilliant, and it just might be the kind of film you'll have to see more than once to grasp everything it is trying to say.
That being said, it leads me onto some

A couple of years ago I met a boy called S. He was kind, quiet and made me coffee every morning at an office we both despised for what it represented. I fell head over heels for his quiet charm, his music, his soothing voice: who he was. Except I didn't really know who he really was. Slowly, over the course of the relationship, he began to point out things he didn't like about me. He didn't like the way I overused certain phrases, the way I spoke, the way I sang, and he didn't want to listen to me talk about my past because it burdened him, and he didn't like that...basically all the little things that made me, ME would have to change. This is where I made the most critical mistake.
I changed for him.
I changed who I was to please S. And do you know what? The more I changed to suit his needs, the more demands he put on

I found someone that made my life colorful again. Someone that makes me want to live my life happily. We are a couple for two months now, but it already feels like years when we talk to each other. It's like I have found a soulmate. A person I can always relate to and a person always being there for me. With him, I feel like a princess, and like a little star.
I love you, Sascha.

His arms were wrapped round his stomach as though he was embracing himself or holding something inside him, though he never stopped walking. Holly followed him, being sure to stay several feet behind as she pulled along his oxygen tank.Holly followed him, being sure to stay several feet behind as she pulled along his oxygen tank. She worried desperately for his lungs, but knew he would refuse to put the cannula back on, so she simply went along behind him for twenty minutes or so until he suddenly veered off the road and made his way towards a small stone church. His strides were swift and as long as his legs, and soon he was walking among the moss-covered gravestones and monuments that littered the grounds. His eyes listed over the various names upon the plaques until he at stopped suddenly at one.
From me, to you. This week I've noticed a couple of people posting comments like "I will never be able to write like that" or "I wish I could write as well as you" and I wanted to quickly respond to them whilst its on my mind. From me, to you.1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Firstly, I am no expert writer. I suffer with issues of punctuation, grammar, spelling, editing, stubbornness and pride.
But secondly, please remember that I am 25 years old and I have poems that I wrote when I was ten. That means I've been writing fifteen years. I have an archive of about 700 pieces. It's a lot. And the more words you write, the more words you will have written that have the potential to be amazing. Simple maths!
BUT I know this might sound like just words, so... from me to you, here is a poem I wrote in 1997, at the age of ten. You may laugh, point, pretend that it's amazing, whatever you like, but just remember that everyone starts somewhere, and everyone progresses beyond that if they try.
GUESS WHAT.SOOO....Inky and I are drawing downstairs, and dad walks in after coming home from work. And he holds up a bag of ice cream (Yay! Autumn PoemThe season's name doesn't fit.Autumn Poem2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Only the trees understand
With their fiery colors lit.
Why Fall is at hand.
After the denim rain
The sky lights up in gold
One can barely refrain
To splash around in the cold.
Pumpkins guard front doors
Fat and happy,
In their orange-hued pores.
With juicy interior trapping.
Fires snap and dance making,
The smell of pine smoke.
The leaves shaking
From the wind's sharp poke.
This is when we all realize
This seasons name don't fit.
With sweater,gloves and pies,
There's no time to Fall or even sit.
Inspired by this one rainstorm we just had. Afterward, sun peeked through and the whole sky lit up yellow-gold. It was so pretty!!
