Project Educate: Fight Artist's/Writer's BlockArtist/Writer's block is the worst nightmare for writers and artists! Because of this, many artists and writers quit! Writer's/Artist's block is usually only temporary, but it can be long too! Here are some ways to fight writer's/artist's block!Project Educate: Fight Artist's/Writer's Block2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Find a place or situation that inspires you:
Yes, you've all probably heard this a lot of times, but it's true. Finding places that you like can inspire you to do more art/writing! That place doesn't have to be quiet, it can be a huge city bursting with life and sound! Places won't only inspire you, but so will situations. Taking a walk around your city or even you neighborhood can inspire you. Try going to special events that take places. See how people interact! Just like a place, these situations don't have to be happy or very community-like. Sometimes bad situations can inspire artist's/writer's to express their feelings through art or writing.
Pull up old ideas:
Artist's/Writer's usually throw the majorit

Good Guys (Males Only) CollabThe collab is now COMPLETE!:Good Guys (Males Only) Collab3 years ago in Personal More Like This
For this collab, we will be drawing all the Disney good guys (males) we can!
If this collab goes well, we'll do a Disney girls one, too.
Any good guy can only be in the collab once. In other words, if someone has already taken him, then you can't sign up for him.
When we're done, Zimeta will put together all the individual guys onto one big mural, much like our previous villains collaboration:
Traditional or digital mediums are fine.
Any pose is fine as long as it's not vulgar. Anything from jumping to sitting is just perfect.
Do not do your own version of a character. You MUST use the Disney design. You're allowed to draw them in your own style, though. In fact, we encourage you to use your own style over doing a carbon copy of a character.
We are not doing different versions of the same character. Fo
Making Art on Commission: Tips for ArtistsPretty much all artists are presented with offers to produce works of art on commission at points in their careers. Unfortunately, many have had what looked to be a golden opportunities turn into unmitigated nightmares. The following tips and pointers on expect when commissioned to do an artwork and how to approach commissions in general will not only help you avoid problems, but will help you identify situations when the best approach is to just say no.Making Art on Commission: Tips for Artists4 years ago in Personal More Like This
To begin with, working on commission, creating a work of art on spec from scratch for someone other than yourself, is totally different than selling a finished piece at a show, at a gallery, or out of your studio. Selling a completed work of art is an event; producing a work of art on commission for another party is a relationship. Never confuse the two.
From your end, the key to successfully working on commission is your ability to be flexible and communicate with whomever hires you. A commission relationship only succeeds when you re

Big thanks to VSConcepts, SaTaNiA, ginkgografix and TwiggyTeeluck for their help in making this blog!
Starting from the absolute basics, how would you describe what CSS is and what it can be used for on deviantART?
VSConcepts says, Well, CSS Stands for Cascading Style Sheet. CSS essentially takes existing HTML and dresses it up. CSS controls how the basic HTML can be displayed to the viewer, and thus enhances the experience on the web. On deviantART, we apply CSS to our personal journals, our group blogs, and news articles, and even use it in some custom widgets.

How To Photograph Your Paintings
In this article I want to discuss a common problem that some traditional artists have. That's photographing your paintings. Whether it be for selling prints or just getting your art noticed online the importance of having paintings look great is key. If your fortunate enough to have a scanner for smaller pieces then that's great! But if your working on large canvases or paper then you can run into issues. The most common problem artists have are Glare, Blur and Color. All of which will be discussed in this article.
Anyone who has worked with acrylics and oils knows what a problem this can be when your trying to take a picture of a painting. This is not as much a issues for a artist working with watercolors

Tutorial: do huge features really fast and easyA Journal „tutorial“ aka „save time and make your dA life easier“.Tutorial: do huge features really fast and easy3 years ago in Personal More Like This
I just couldn't watch my fellow deviants doing the features the most tiring and time consuming ways anymore, while there is much simpler and really fast way of dealing with big features, as big as the Journal limit allows if necessary, and I will share how. It's up to you if you wanna start using it too.
It's really nothing special, just an incredibly useful method I figured along the way, through my long featuring „career“. Also, maybe it will give motivation to more people to start making features, small or big, and help support their favorite artists, artists who deserve much more recognition and feedback, introduce unknown great artists and their art they found to others, etc.
The „tutorial“ is divided in 2 parts:
1. Featuring artwork collected though Polls/Journals made especially for that
2. Featuring artwork from your Favorites

10 Top Tips To Become A Better Artistby10 Top Tips To Become A Better Artist2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Tip 1: Learn the Importance of the Sketch
Sketching is one of those things that every artist MUST do and do often. Sketches don't have to be perfect, nor do you have to show them to anyone. They can be as rough or as scratchy as you like but the thing to keep in mind is it's readability. The purpose of a sketch is to quickly illustrate or develop an idea you have, to capture or study some form of reference so that it can be worked on at a latter date. Because of this, the sketch only needs to convey the right information to you and you alone (unless you are drawing an idea out for a client then the message needs to be crystal clear).
Tip 2: Draw, Draw and Draw Some More!
This is a similar tip to the first but what I mean by this is draw anything that comes to mind or visually interests you. Sketch on the bus, train, in bed and even on the toilet. Seriously! The

Thank you all for coming here this evening. I have a brief statement to make... Please bear with me...
In light of recent events in the news, I've decided to come forward -- and confess that-- I have used Performance Enhancers throughout my career-- in order to obtain an advantage. It was mostly my own choice, although-- my father did start me out at a very early age-- by passing on his talent to me. All along the way, in addition to lots of diligent study on my own-- I did enlist the opinion of others as far as my development, and I supplemented this growth with inspiration from various professional artists and filmmakers, the instruction by great teachers at the Hig

It was late, I was tired, I thought to myself Just flick through the gallery and see if something catches your eye. And this is what I found.
The words flow. There's no unnecessary description to get caught up on, the characters exist for their character alone - names are irrelevant - and the result is 450 words of crafted fiction.
This stood out for me because it achieves exactly what it sets out to do, and I appreciate writing that doesn't ramble on senselessly.
Wanna help stop illegal wildlife trade?Hello members! A very awesome photographer, HeWhoWalksWithTigers has taken a step to help save wild animals all over the world. I have copy and pasted the following from HeWhoWalksWithTigers journal:Wanna help stop illegal wildlife trade?3 years ago in Personal More Like This
"I've been talking about FREELAND quite a bit over the past year. After all, I've been happily helping them partly because of your help! However, FREELAND is currently in a predicament and could use the help of fellow wildlife photographers out there!
The illegal wildlife trade is estimated to have a value of billions of dollars every year, making it the third most lucrative international industry behind guns and drugs. However, despite this trade wiping out wildlife all over the world, efforts of law enforcement have yet to match those of the criminals that traffic wildlife. Simply put, the illegal wildlife trade is not taken seriously. As a result, law enforcement and customs personnel often do not have the training to identify wildlife and wildlife products that they co
