With the tendrils of dark shadows snaking their way up the walls and floor, light was Daniel's only saviour. His fingers struggling to stop shaking as he held on to the lantern made his surroundings dance in uneven patches of light. He tried not to look at the walls too much, once after inspecting them at close quarters he felt woozy from the stench of what felt unmistakably like blood and wasted three tinderboxes to try calm himself in a nearby room.
The horror of the castle, the desperation of not remembering his past and the deep and harsh fear of the creatures roaming the corridors made Daniel want to do nothing but hide and cower. He wished that he didn't need tinderboxes to light up a room. He
