I Love YouYou are always thereI Love You7 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
You give me strength
And for all of this
I must give you thanks
It should be
The other way around
I should be helping you
When you are down
So when the pain is too much to bear
and I cannot be there
Take this poem and read it through
And know that I will always love you!

The Tattoo Tattoos---permanent markings in different shapes, different sizes and all with differnet meanings. To some they express individuality, to others they're about groups of friends and youth. Tattoos sometimes have names: a person's mother, their lover, their dog. Some have pictures: roses, flowers, skulls, bones, dragons, ladies, you name it. All of them are permanent. The Tattoo7 years ago in Biography & Memoir More Like This
My tattoo is is of a different sort---self-inflicted---reminding me of a time when I was alone, and sickness was spreading though my mind. How desperate I was to move on, to shed this mortal would for one of everlasting peace. When I look down, I can almost see the drying blood on my wrist, smell the hospital and feel the charcoal being pumped into my stomach. I was so hurt, so alone, so afraid. But life went on, and I was still in it. The wounds of flesh, spirit and mind healed with time and help. All that is left is the tattoo t

chair against door,
she faces the mirror,
and turns ever so slowly,
watching her body's reflection in the glass,
and raises her arms and points her toes----
now a side view:
Thick of stomach
She'll run more,
six miles tonight,
bike, lunch and dinner,
and no snacking.
A glass of juice,
or an apple,
if she has to...
Someone's calling though the keyhole.
There's piano to practice,
homework to do.
She blocks the doorway with her body
and wipes her eyes.
She knows she's falling
and she wants to let them cathc her,
and hold her,
and save her---
they would do it for her, too.
But she's played on for too long now,
there's no turning back.
Hung head and empty mouth,
it's all about control,
and she knows who's boss.

In her little hand
And started to draw
As if by command.
I looked on with pleasure
But couldn't foresee
What the few simple lines
Were going to be.
What are you drawing?
I asked, by and by.
I'm making a picture
Of God in the sky.
But nobody knows
What God looks like, I sighed.
They will when I'm finished
She calmly replied.

Of my life
No walking, no speaking...
Just drawing in this black abyss,
No breathing, no sleeping
Waiting for your hand,
My only hope.
Waiting for your lips,
Sweet destiny wings.
Hoping for your love's rebirth,
To defeat Death's shadows
And make my life
A shining ray of Light.
The Beggar GirlEvery time we meet, little girl with your begging bowl,The Beggar Girl7 years ago in General Non-Fiction More Like This
Your smile is too eternal to know sorrow,
You look up at me, at the light red moon,
But my city has disappeared, soulless.
I want to go with you, little girl with your begging bowl
To your home, under the bridge, which expunges every shape,
To live from the life of radiant fantasies,
To be gay in the illusion of happiness.
Your world that is higher then the cathedral spire
Flashes past on the dirty water, but you know it by heart,
Your soul is so pure--far too pure
To share my sorrow.
If you die, little girl with the begging bowl,
Then the moon up there will no longer have an owner,
And my city, ah, my city
Will live on without a beacon.
The World Around UsBeyond the stars there are still other worlds; The World Around Us7 years ago in Articles & Interviews More Like This
There are other fields to test man's indomitable spirit.
Not devoid of life are those open spaces of heaven;
There are hundreds of other caravans in them as well.
Do not remain content with this sensible world;
Beyond it there are other gardens and nests as well.
If thou hast lost one nest, what then?
There are other places for sighing and wailing as well.
Thou art an eagle; thy business is to soar in the empyrean;
Thou hast other skies in which thou canst range as well.
Be not entangled in this world of days and nights;
Thou hast another time and space as well.
The RainI remember the rain. The Rain7 years ago in Articles & Interviews More Like This
Not much else.
Sitting on the porch crying
Because everybody else was,
And watching my tears
Blend with the rain
To form puddles
Which dripped into the street
And were splashed up by the cars
As they truned into the driveway
Ruining my new dress shoes
But I didn't care
Because they gave me blisters.
I couldn't help but wonder
If the rain could wash my tears
All the way to the ocean
And eventually to Japan.
I had tried to send a bottle there once
But found it the next day
So I didn't think my tears
Would make it either.
I threw a rock into the drainpipe
That used to be my favorite hiding spot
And it made a hollow sound
Which was how I felt inside
When everybody told me
How sorry they were
And patted my sopping hair.
I just sat out in the rain
Until they all left
Which wasn't long
Because no one wanted to stay.
I didn't wave good-bye,
I just stared into the rain,
The only thing in life
That seemed consistent
And that always has been.
As long as I remember him,

warming up the night.
Held closely in the evening,
wrapped in blanket tight.
Melodies are whispered,
soft and lulling tunes.
Windows looking out upon
the grass and sandy dunes.
Peace and comfort all their own
through their lives a vow unspoken.
Known only to the two of them
in dreams they are not broken.
Love's DawnShe walked along the shore,Love's Dawn9 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
searching the horizon in childish hope.
For some remnant of the past
to help her heart cope.
The storm began to break-
hair and gown blowing in the breeze.
She walked ever on, eyes empty
as she dropped to her knees.
The journey too great--the search with no end.
with all of her strength burried in the sand.
There she lay, defeated and broken,
when then her took her hand.
He lifted her gently--each broken piece--
and carried her on.
his touch upon her tender,
summoning the dawn.

in this world have died away--
still warmed by your embrace.
As if my very existance
is lit up by your face.
I love you as though the land was flooded,
but still, you give me breath.
As if by the closing of your eyes,
could in seconds bring my death.
I love you as though my world could fall,
but still I would not stumble.
As if my life rests in your hands,
though all the rest would crumble.
I love you as though all in this world
matters not, save for your eyes.
As if without them shining,
the sun would never rise.
I love you as though you love me,
with nothing in our way.
As if those eyes could carry me
forever, come what may.

As I rise from the sea, I see all the soldiers fall, burn, and scream for their moms or dad.

the way you kiss my brow.
The way I know you're thinking of me,
but never knowing how.
The way you gaze into my eyes,
your hand upon my cheek.
The way we cannot be apart,
not even through the week.
Sweet messesges, sweet sentiments,
your unfailing words, good night.
The way you reassure me still,
that all will be alright.
The lure of your lips, the smile in your eyes,
send shivers down my spine.
But mostly it is knowing,
and feeling you are mine.
Something no one else can touch,
my sweet mystery.
Something no one else can have,
your heart belongs to me.
And you would freely give it,
though I do not deserve.
And I would gladly give you mine,
with nothing in return.
For love is in the simple things,
and I simplist of all--
Will give you all the wonderous things,
because for you, I fall.
In love with all the things you are,
with everything you do.
In love with how you make me feel,
I am in love with you.
