For the Return to Ravnica set of Magic: The Gathering. This was an image update for an older card.

"Patience mage. Killing you now would be too easy."

Been taggin' some of these on Facebook and felt like making one for Magic, because Planeswalkers are all cool like that.

I didn't want to use both Elspeths, but wound up doing it anyway (Why don't we have an Urza planeswalker that I could have used!?) Oh well, I like how it turned out.

Made in.... paint?

Card art for the Innistrad set of Magic: The Gathering. The trickiest issue with this piece was that the magic was to be dark purple. Usually magic is portrayed as bright and glowing which makes it show up well but dark magic requires a light background to show up so it took some balancing before the value scheme worked. The character designs were wide open so it was fun creating them.

1 of 6 pieces I illustrated for Magic the Gathering's 2014 Duels of the Planeswalkers campaign
I really had fun with this one, even though she's a troublemaking red-head.

I saw this on the intrawebs over the weekend from Pax East and thought it was safe to load up.

This one was hands down the most fun to work on.

Cute Girl? Check
Fog? Check
Lots of fucking fire blasting you in the mug? Check

I hope you guys enjoy it and that my work keeps you coming back to the gallery, I appreciate all the great feedback so much.
All the best,
Brad

A vertical image for Magic?? Yes, sir. She will be one of two full art promo cards for the release of the M15 Core Set. The brief called for "a female elf shaman. Her costuming is that of a shaman - silk robes, feathered head-dress, magical staff." She also just had a conflict with a stone golem who now lies in ruins at her feet.

Illustrated for a card in the Modern Masters set of Magic: The Gathering. This was an update of an old card image that had to depict a mage character flicking a deadly red marble-thing at the viewer.
