For the Return to Ravnica set of Magic: The Gathering. This was an image update for an older card.

"Patience mage. Killing you now would be too easy."

Been taggin' some of these on Facebook and felt like making one for Magic, because Planeswalkers are all cool like that.

I didn't want to use both Elspeths, but wound up doing it anyway (Why don't we have an Urza planeswalker that I could have used!?) Oh well, I like how it turned out.

Made in.... paint?

Card art for the Innistrad set of Magic: The Gathering. The trickiest issue with this piece was that the magic was to be dark purple. Usually magic is portrayed as bright and glowing which makes it show up well but dark magic requires a light background to show up so it took some balancing before the value scheme worked. The character designs were wide open so it was fun creating them.

Illustrated for a card in the Modern Masters set of Magic: The Gathering. This was an update of an old card image that had to depict a mage character flicking a deadly red marble-thing at the viewer.
