It's really relevant to me right now, because suddenly people have been asking me about my canvases and cut outs... like people I know. I think it's because I posted this picture on my facebook. (which I hardly ever do because I'm like invisible with my friends and family when it comes to my art.)

And what the guy says in the video is true. People expect you to do free work because "Hell, it will only take you a few minutes."
Well no it doesn't. For one thing, I take my sweet ass time because I worry that if it looks bad, I'll see how limited my abilities really are. AND THEN MY FAMILY WILL CRITICIZE ME SAYING "SHE QUIT BEING A NURSE FOR THIS? PSSSHHHH" (I have some issues with family's judge-y eyes.) So yes, I think the emotional stress I would have

When the New Year's came around, I gave myself a bit of an ultimatum for my resolution. It was one of two things: "Follow my dreams or accept reality." Accepting reality would mean dropping the things that I love to do. Get a "real" job. And take care of business. I may be really realistic but I'm a stubborn ol' dream chaser. Reality?? Ain't nobody got time fo' that! All I want to see is my dream become a reality! Who wouldn't want their dream t

According to Adobe, these seemingly free downloads were/are available only for clients who had already purchased CS2 software:
For obtaining illegal copies of graphics software, that is.
What I mean?
Adobe is offering various software downloads for free - Photoshop CS2 among others!
Whoever wasn't able to afford them until now should take advantage.
You only need to register for free at the Adobe website. And probably need to set the programs to run in "Windows XP mode" if you're using a newer Windows.
I'm going to test a few of these right now! I have only Photoshop which I bought years ago, none of the others!

There are quite a few photographs on DeviantART that depict Jewellery and in particular Jewellery photography is popular within the Artisan Crafts and Still Life galleries. So here are some basic tips to capturing your Jewellery at its best whether you want to sell your products or just show them off..
I've recently used one of these to do some commercial photography and they work quite well. They're great for photographing small items on white backgrounds and having that clean, sharp commercial look. For those that haven't used them before, Lightboxes are translucent surfaces illuminated from behind which are designed to highlight the shape laid upon them in high contrast. Think about those boxes used to highlight X-rays in a hospital - just like that. They can be fairly decently priced and you can pick up bargains on places like Ebay. There's also a great article talking you through how to create your own. Check it out

The RAW Format
Not every camera has the option to use RAW, but many do and I highly suggest you use it! I shoot in RAW about 90% of the time. Shooting in RAW retains all the data on the sensor, and doesn't compress it, unlike JPEG. This kind of file is a lossless format.

So I just accidentally uploaded the video.... Here a proper journal about this. Oh god watching this, my voice is strange on video...OH WHO AM I KIDDING it's always been strange...
Click the drawing or click HERE:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yeZHFZ5ruIk&featurelcp to be taken to the video!
So I finally posted something on youtube! And it only took me, what? Almost a year? Yeah sounds about right...
But really the video is to help out anyone who has trouble with drawing the titans. It's just the faces, because if I did bodies too, well it would take up 30 minutes (or more) and I'm sure that is going over board.
It's done traditionally because I own a webcam and I should actually start using it. That and I miss using my mechanical pencil.
Also I'm sorry if they might not look exactly right (I'm a critic to myself ok?) it might be my 'style' trying to take over [hahaha].

What I really like about projecteducate is that the articles are not lectures taught in person. Because of this, I can sit in a car and type up my article while waiting on my sister to get done with her art class. Of course, I still have to put the article into Stash and work on coding when I get back into a wifi zone, but 75% of the work is done! Surely you guys are familiar with Laura (MadRoseKai). Perhaps not you new watchers n' all but most of you who have been watching my art these past years.
SHE IS IN TROUBLE. LIKE, HORRIBLE TROUBLE.
Do forgive me but at this point I have every right to say that her ever-so-bastardly father has THREATENED her now. See, the past year he has been cheating on Laura's mother, taking her money, putting her in debt, hurting her mother, and just breaking his family.
This morning he (and I quote) threatened Laura that he was going to "knock your teeth out", "shoot your dog!", and he had a belt laid out to hit her with.
Obviously, our beautiful police system doesn't believe in domestic/family/what-the-fuck-ever violence and they did not believe her when she CALLED THE COPS ABOUT IT. She had to lock herself in her room to b

I think everyone debates on this topic. Should I buy this set? What if it’s not enough? Maybe I don’t need all the colors? I personally debated with myself (LOL) for 1-2 months. History of Paleontology Art
Since the beginning of times, the way we see dinosaurs has been in constant evolution, with the discovery of new fossils and their study. Let's take a look at the history of this illlustration.
Fossils of gigantic animals have been discovered far before the 19th century, and in general used as proof of the existence of dragons and other mythical creatures.
The Giant Reptiles
The first remains of dinosaurs to be identified by science as remains of extinct animals have been classified as some kind of lizard. The Iguanodon and the Megalosaur have been described as giant lizards. Since the complete skeleton was unknown, the first reconstitutions in the 19th century gave them a shape similar to our present-day reptiles, just far larger in size.

Well, this is what was posted in a group journal I'm watching, Imma cutnpaste it:
You all remember SOPA? Meet its cousin. Now, CISPA has actually been around for a bit, but while this unfortunate Boston incident has had us occupied, CISPA was passed through the House of the American government. Why is this important? Why should you care? Well I'll tell you why. The 4th amendment is in danger. I'll remind you of the 4th.
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.
Take a peek at this.

The Radioactive Part of Photography
X-rays are part of the electromagnetic spectrum, which means it's light, just like visible light infra-red or radio waves.
Picture via wikipedia : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Light
X-rays are well known for their ability to pass through materials. This particularity is due to the energy level of this type of light. Lights with more energy pass more easily through materials. This energy is also related to the damage that this radiation can produce. UV light is dangerous for your skin, X-rays are known to be dangerous, and gamma rays are sometimes called "death rays".
If you want to know how to use X-rays, and learn a few things about the equipment, I'd recommend watching the video by Nick Veasey, as you will see work on artistic X-ray pictures (see links below).
X-rays have been used for art for quite some time. The on

First of all, I won't differentiate between "precious"* and "semi-precious" gemstones in this article. Here's why: The term "semi-precious gemstone" is an old and rather unscientific term. The terms "precious" and "semi-precious" can be very misleading, as they imply certain stones are more valuable than others, even when that's not the case. The distinction between the two terms was used to reflect a gem's rarity, quality and "beauty", and because there's simply no sure, objective way to tell which gems are "precious" and which aren't, you won't find them in this article.
So, I will simply talk of "gems" or "gemstones", or, if I'm feeling like this article needs some word diversity/really lazy, simply "stones".

Why a Microscope ?
Optic Microscopy is very similar to Macro Photography as both use visible light and magnification to take pictures of small objects. The difference is the magnification capacity of the microscope and the ability to light objects. The magnification capacity makes a huge difference when you look at objects
This very short presentation will not cover the large variety of techniques and technologies adapted to the observed samples. However, let me introduce you to some of the toys used by scientists.

This is the kind of equipment you have probably used at school, they are the cheapest and the most common. One of main their characteristic is their ability to make white or black background with light, this is very interesting for observation.

Last year you guys probably remember the really controversial SOPA and CISPA bills that were trying to be passed. If not, a quick review is basically they were ways to regulate and monitor the internet of private citizens. These aren't people who were suspected of doing anything wrong, they aren't people who had been involved in criminal activity and their computer might have evidence, these weren't people that the government had any business looking into their internet activity because they didn't have a warrant and had done nothing wrong.
Basically, the people that SOPA and CISPA targeted were you and me.
Private citizens with rights to privacy.
Both bills were beaten back with tremendous public outcry and politicians were hammered and called and people really put up a fight. However, for as much as we wanted to believe we'd won and sent the message, I think a lot of us knew it was only a matter of time before they tried again. Because lets be hones
Beauty of crystalsScience related Art WeekBeauty of crystals7 months ago in Deviant Events More Like This
What Is a Crystal ?
Crystal is the solid form of a substance in which the atoms or molecules are arranged in a definite, repeated patterns. The formation results in one of three ways: a liquid may cool or freeze into a solid; dissolved matter may precipitate out of a solution; or gases may condense into a solid form. The external shape of the crystal -- smooth, symmetrically arranged, flat surfaces -- reflects its atomic structure.
The most common crystal in photography is snow, but there are many other crystals around us and they can all be beautiful.
One of the surprising aspects of crystal is the variation of their size. One single crystal can measure a few nanometres or up to several meters, like in the famous cave of Naica. In the following pictures it is possible to observe that crystals can have the same shape at different scales.

you need art materials fast but the store's closed,
the materials you need are really expensive,
you just want a quick trial of the medium,
the material is not available in your vicinity and you'd have to order it online
you need something cheap, quick and easy for Halloween!
I've got a 'Halloween' section for each one, which tells you how they can be of use during the season of scares. Without further ado, here they are!

Let’s talk about pencils, the handy tool that every artist uses. The pencil can seem pretty basic at first glance, just a mundane everyday object. But the pencil can create magic:
There are a variety of brands of pencils that you can use for art and a variety of kinds. Let’s quickly look at some examples:
Graphite Pencils: This is your humble every day pencil. It is useful for sketches and full scale black and white work. There are many brands ranging from cheap to expensive. Art graphite pencils vary in hardness. The best way to think of hardness is how easily the graphite smudges or applies to the paper. F is the lightest and the hardest lead (the graphite filling of a pencil) and 9B is the softest and darkest lead
