Hello and welcome to my second tutorial. I made this one especially for Thomas today.
Here are some pictures on "How to use Worbla's"
But first: What is Worbla's?
Worbla's Finest Art is a thermoplastic that's ultra cosplayer-friendly. It cuts easily with a knife or a pair of scissors.
Chie- jacket making tutorialSorry I cannot use my camera to record this. It would be a lot simpler but sadly my camera has decided to go to camera heaven.Chie- jacket making tutorial2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Making this jacket was fairly easy and took me just the weekend to make. I needed something to do while I was listening to lectures for class lol.
First just let me say that the pattern I am showing was drafted by me. I have a basic jacket pattern that I cut up, added seam allowance, decided between side panels, ect.. That is why it looks all marked up lol. A pattern I would recommend to use for this is Butterick B5400. The jacket that is in blue is a good because it has the collar. I am pretty sure the fabric for the Jacket I used is a Gabardine. I went for something that had a bit of stretch in it because Chie's jacket is a bit tight fitting.
The front - Is pretty self explanatory. I did curve in the si
So...You Want To Be A (cosplay) Photographer?Ladies and Gentlemen, due to an overwhelming response of "Yes" on one of my latest polls (I think it was something like 35-3 in favor), I'm going to write this journal about my experiences when it comes to photography, and, in all honesty, a majority of it will be aimed at cosplay photography given that that is what I have done the most of since I decided to get a bit more serious about photography. I also feel like it is very important to say that I'm not at all, in any way, saying that this is the "right" way of doing things. What I write about in this journal, and what I say are my own opinions, formed from 4 years and multiple conventions/outside shoots worth of experience. You all are more than welcome to agree or disagree with me, and I invite you to share your thoughts in the comments section, as well as ask me any questions you might have (PLEASE keep it respectful, folks).So...You Want To Be A (cosplay) Photographer?2 years ago in Personal More Like This

Tutorial: How to straighten a wigOkay, I promised to translate the tutorials I wrote some time ago and today I'm starting with "How to straighten a wig". Please notice English is not my native language, so you might run into spelling, grammar or punctuation mistakes. I'm really sorry and hope you're able to understand it anyways. If you are able to understand German you can go to my Animexx weblog and read it there :3 Unfortunately dA doesn't support embedding my pics into the text so I had to put them directly over/under the text. Sorry for that!
I'm just showing you what works for me, so this is a "you can try this" and not a "this is the only way you can do it".
As you might know wigs are made out of plastic fibers. Plastic is a heat bendable material, so this is the essence of the both methods I will show you. Styling your wig with heat will also work for curling it, making spikes and so on. Please be careful whenev

you need PVC, cutter, colorlake, hot air gun or an oven.
so at first I made pattern and copy them on the PVC
after that you cut them out with the cutter (I swear make some breaks because your hands hurts a lot after that)
then put the part in to the oven and hold them for 20sec.
when you take them out of the oven you have 10sec to bring the in the right form
Commissions will be opened on 28th SeptemberHello everypony!Commissions will be opened on 28th September1 year ago in Personal More Like This
My commissions will be reopened on 28th September 9:00am (time zone UTC+01:00) and stay opened for 24 hours. There is no such thing as first come-first served so you don't need to rush and note me exactly at 6:00 am to be first as I will choose commissions from all sent after 24 hours of opening. But order of realization will be based on the time the request was sent. One request may be more than one pony.
I don't know yet how long the list will be, all depends on number of requests and characters but I may accept more than previously.
What will be taken into consideration:
- Queen Chrysalis
- Princess Luna season two
- fillies (regular and Royal such as filly Cadence, Chrysalis, Luna...)
- regular 15" or 18/19" mares
- alicorn body mares
- simple accessories such as socks, saddles, CMC capes, very easy clothes and so (ask me if you are not sure about this)
I won't be accepting complex dresses/outfits (eg Gala dresses, Coronation dress, etc).
Cosplay Tutorial: Molding and casting your piecesThis tutorial is based on how to use Smooth-on's Oomoo- and Smooth-cast series materials for cosplay purposes. There is little special too about using fiberglass instead of smooth-cast. Hope you enjoy!Cosplay Tutorial: Molding and casting your pieces2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Ok. Lets get started!
"I need five identically same looking parts like in that center of the picture for my cosplay but making them one by one would take LOTS of time. What to do?"
If you have the right materials then the answer is simple: "Make one sharp prototype of that piece then mold it and cast it."
Here are the materials you need:
- Modelling paste for making the prototype (or what ever material you like. It won't affect to the final product)
- Smooth-On's Oomoo 25 or 30 for making the mold (mold max 20-40 works too but it' need more skill to use. So i recommend Oomoo)
- Smooth-On's Smoothcast series for casting (i recommend smooth-cast 320 because it is easy to paint with spray paint)
(Smooth-On got lot of resellers in few countries. Here in Finland is Silcom.fi who sells their p

As said before: English is not my native language. I'm sorry for every mistake I made while writing. I'm just showing you what works for me. This is a "you can" tutorial and not "you must". I hope this gives you a basic idea on how I do it and helps you as well. I will not show you any brands of make-up I work with since they are different from country to country. I'm not a dermatologist or a professional make-up artist, so I can't give you tips for "problem skin" cases like acne and so on. Please consult a doctor and let them give you tips for what's best to use before buying something randomly
If you don't know what make-up to use out of the hilarious amount of available products in stores ask a vendor in the store of your choice. They will help you.
This tutorial will be the base for every upcoming make-up related tutorial I will post in the future.
First of all I clean my skin and apply vanishing crème. It's always good to do so
How to get started with Pixel ArtLately I have frequently been asked what programs I use for pixeling and/or animating and also in general how I go about it. Now I currently don't have the time to create a tutorial of my own but I figured until I will be able to do so I could at least give you some helpful tips and link you to some tutorials made by others. How to get started with Pixel Art3 years ago in Personal More Like This
About the programs I use
I do pretty much all the pixeling itself in Photoshop Elements 8.0 which sadly enough isn't free. But don't worry, in general photshop is even a little overpowered for pixel art, I simply use it because I am most used to it.
Technically you can even use Microsoft Paint for pixeling, after all the only two things you really need to be able to create pixel art is a pen tool and the ability to zoom in far enough. The only real disadvantage about Paint is the lack of transparency support so you can only create pixels with an opaque background.
However I can offer you a really great third optio
The Power of MagicIt's past 3am, and I can't sleep. The Power of Magic3 years ago in Personal More Like This
-------The Power of Magic-------
When I was a kid, one of the greatest things possible to witness was magic. To me, my dad was a magician, no doubt about it. He could make coins appear from pockets and behind ears. He could guess what card you or your friend chose. He could blow cigarette smoke from his ears.
Actually, that last one was due to having punctured ear drums, so wasn't really magic... but you get what I mean.
Of course, now that I'm older, I know all these tricks myself. They're the easiest ones in the book. I've learned them myself, and occasionally blow the minds of kids who are now at the age I once was when I was being amazed by this apparent 'magic'.
That experience, of seeing something you believe to be utterly impossible become possible, is amazing. It's the reason I love illusionists and magicians, and the reason I've spent most of this insomniatic evening watching videos of Dynamo the magician.
Eventually with shows of magic
British HumourToday, I wrote out a post of about 1,000 words or so about why people get offended by British humour, but shouldn't. I then deleted it. Why?British Humour3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Because I realised that in talking about the nature of British humour, and why we're able to happily joke about things like celebrity deaths, racism, sexism, tragedies like 9/11, wars etc. ... I'd end up having people getting upset because I've offended them.
I've saved myself the hassle of this by deleting the post.
All I will say is that, if you can't handle Shock Humour, then you should always be wary of watching any form of British comedy. It's part of our comedic culture.
Otherwise, just accept that you might be offended, and when you are....stop reading, close the video, or change the channel. It's that easy.
"Being offended is part of being in the real world."

Hello, welcome to Dolling 101! We'll be going over all the basics that every beginner doller should know. There's a lot, so let's get to it!
Lesson 1: Terminology/Vocabulary
What is a Doll?
It might help to begin this article by telling you what you're reading about! A doll, or as we call them on DeviantArt, Digital Dolls, are small graphics, usually pixel-art, of people and characters. People create these by taking a base body another person has made, and creating art on it - designing clothes and hair, and turning the blank template into whatever kind of character they can imagine.
I will go over dolls more in detail, but that's the very basic description. Please, read on!
What is a Base?
Bases! You're probably familiar with this term. That's right, those pixel line-arts of bald/naked people that

One of the questions I get a lot are "who do you buy ____ from?"
I always assumed that all sites were pretty equal,
but I recently have been, and still am, dealing with a dispute form a contact website,
they have broken their our rules but still refusing to refund the purchase,
and because of the way they worded the product paypal is refusing to step up.
I'm pretty burned,
and I know others have been screwed over,
or have had major problems from dealing with people online.
As well as people who have had amazing experiences.
Here is my list,

CPRWeird poll to have, huh?CPR3 years ago in Personal More Like This
There's an advert on UK television at the moment, sponsored by The British Heart Foundation, talking about chest compressions, and how people should do that if they haven't been trained in mouth-to-mouth.
The background research for the video was quite interesting:
A new poll conducted across the UK and involving 2,000 respondents showed nearly half were put off from performing CPR because of a lack of knowledge.
A fifth worried specifically about the thought of the kiss of life or about contracting an infectious disease.
Four in 10 people were worried about being sued if they did something wrong, even though the BHF argues no such case has ever succeeded in Britain.
"Thirty thousand people have a cardiac arrest in the UK every single year and half of those are witnessed, but in most cases no-one acts, no-one knows what to do, people panic."
This information got me thinking.
I had a basic First Aid course... over four years ago now. Chest compression CPR

PE - Welcome to Digital Dolls!Hey everyone! Welcome to Dolling week of Project Educate! I suppose I'll start it out with what the heck I'm even talking about.PE - Welcome to Digital Dolls!2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Digital dolls! A term coined by DeviantArt, but a very fitting term indeed! Dolls are basically small pixel-art (usually of people) typically created from a base-body (a naked, bald pixel-person) that another doller has made.
That was a mouth-full, huh? Just think of them as digital paper-dolls.
So what's this about a base-body? Bases are actually a huge part of the dolling experience. If you notice, in the three example dolls up there, the artist credits another artist for the 'base'. Almost every doll is like a collaboration between two artists, making dolling that much more fun! Some people choose to edit the base they use til it's barely recognizable, and some people prefer to leave them as they were!
So where can
