In today's English class, each group had to analyze the first sentence in Francis Bacon's essay, "Of Studies".
The sentence? "Studies serve for delight, for ornament, and for ability."
Apparently we had to analyze the first sentence for today, and there must be one representative to come forward and explain what their group thought about the sentence - then defend their explanation and persuade the entire class that they were right.
I was praying to any deity up there in the sky that I wouldn't be picked as the group's representative.
I thought wrong, and :iconKitsuMiro: persuaded me to be the group's representative.
One of the representatives was a classmate I was at odds with - a big, burly man with skin as brown as...mud? Well, yes, that was him, and with colored hair to boot. Brown skin AND brown hair? Talk about a 6-foot log.
He was going on and on about his point and doing his thing, until something he said piqued my curiosity.
