Last Samus piece for the time being, I'll be moving into more original stuff, I believe. This is intended as a desktop; the download is 1920 x 1080 for your (and my) convenience. Not going to post the line art for this one because, honestly, it's underwhelming. This was meant as a lighting/coloring exercise for myself.
Special thanks goes out to Goat from www.powergoat.com. A direct link to his metal Metroid medley: [link] Yeah. In case you didn't know, Samus is metal as ****. Be sure to check out his Castlevania stuff under "music" as well. Epic.
Also, 's cosplay helped me visualize exactly how the hell you can jam a woman into one of those power suits.
I've been wanting to work on another Samus fanart piece for a while, and finally found the time to whip something up!
When I played Metroid and Super Metroid, I always viewed Samus as a hardass. Someone with a no-BS, somewhat military-esque attitude. After the more recent titles in the series, I'm not sure Nintendo had that in mind for the character, but that's how I always viewed her growing up, and how I kinda wanted to portray her in this image.
I love the Metroid series. Of course my favorite boss is always Ridley, in any of the games. He's such an iconic opponent, and I really enjoy the running conflict that Samus has with him. I feel that besides the Metroids themselves, Ridley could be considered Samus' arch-nemesis. Anyway, in this image I wanted to draw Samus beating the crap out of Ridley. I also wanted to show her using her light whip in a unique way, since I feel it's a rather under utilized tool that she has. Of course, she only uses it when she's in her zero suit. Speaking of which, the internet seems obsessed with images of Samus' armor being blown off. I wonder why?
Yeah, you show that over grown space pterodactyl who's boss. <3
I always wanted to draw this but never able to cause I never thought I had to skill to give it justice. But one day, while I was practicing my sketches, I drew a great rough sketch of Samus and I was thinking I might be able to put this on photoshop and go nuts. 25 hours later...wollah! I hope you like it!
