First and foremost, what I would call the most important thing the Republican Party should learn from this is that you cannot infringe on the rights of citizens. If you try to take away the rights of women, of immigrants, of people with alternative lifestyles, you will continue to lose. This is the Twenty First century guys... things have changed, and you REALLY need to get with the times.
Second, it is very very evident that the American people no longer believe the old conservative line (or should I say lie?) about tax breaks for the wealthy creating jobs. You need to look no further than recent history, each time we have chosen a Republican and enacted these sorts of tax cuts, we have lost jobs

On Friday, in Jacksonville, Florida, Michael Dunn, a 45 year old man shot to death a 17 year old black teen over loud music. It seems that Jordan Davis was a passenger in a car with some friends, in a parking lot of a convenience store, and the teens were listening to loud music on the car stereo. When Mr. Dunn ordered them to turn down the music, they ignored his demands.
Apparently, this gave Mr Dunn all the excuse he needed, to begin firing randomly into the car. He fired at least 8 times, yet only hit Davis (or anyone else) twice. And after the shooting he fled the scene. Bys

In the wake of the tragedy in Newtown Conn. this past week, there's been a lot of stuff bandied about, and I have made no secret of my opinions about the subject. Personally, I fully favor a semi-automatic assault weapons ban, and a ban on high capacity magazines. I have met with a good deal of opposition on this, by people who make numerous claims and excuses and arguments that to me, simply don't wash.

Recently, we've all been hearing a lot about the Keystone XL Pipeline and "Tar Sands Oil". There has been much said and written concerning this, both pro and con. And with the recent pipeline spills, the subject seems to be heating up. But there is a question that, so far, I have not heard anyone asking, and most certainly have not heard anyone even trying to answer.
Now, granted, it's possible someone has asked this question, and it's even possible it's been answered, and I simply missed it, but I'd still like to know the answer, if there's anyone who can actually explain it...

There was nothing outside but rain. I stood by the window, counting the drops and wondering just how many fall in between two heartbeats. Clouds were looming over the city, leaving no trace of the blue sky. I knew it must still be out there, just as the Sun is as well, but at this moment, I felt nothing but the rain; saw nothing but the grey.
