..well, it's a long story. But they did get spat on, essientially, by someone who they thought of as a friend. Someone brought up that they both deserved a Mimic. I of course don't have the money for her, let alone two of her so I thought I'd do what I..do, and draw them instead. It took me awhile to get inspired though, unfortunately.
I tried to go away from the Hasbro style abit..gave them slender faces and smaller eyes with more lashes. Oddly enough I think I ended up drawing the legs more Hasbro style than I ever have. Anyways, I always wanted to draw Mimic but waited for the right time..I think this certainly was the right time.
Lets see.. Baby Starshine over at the MLP Arena wanted a sig/persona picture. She gave the colors, and general idea, I drew it. She wanted a "romantic" feel, so I added a sunset.. I need to study hair more though, I can't get curls to look correct, it's frustrating.
Okay so yeah, I overdid it for being just a sig picture she might not even use BUT I much enjoyed making it. I miss oekaki-ing until the wee hours of the morning. This reminded me of the fun I use to have. Most of the oekakis I used to go to are overrun with lamers though, oh well.. I have the applets on my computer now, I can just draw there.
Materials: optical mouse, Paint BBS 2.22 I believe
She doesn't have a name or anything, I had to take part in the MLPFair mascot contest again (just out of habit and tradition honestly, haha) The theme is music..so I made a Colorswirl pony that was influenced by The Yellow Submarine.
Man I hate that song, I dunno why I decided to go with it. I had to rush this and get it finished in two days, my arms hurt
Materials: pencil, microns, wacom, photoshop 6
Edit: Added details here and there, they were driving me crazy
Edit: I had to put my name over the middle of her to try and lessen theft. Someone from PonyIsland decided to use her on their page, so yeah. This is the MLP Fair's 2004 mascot and she is not to be used for ANYTHING of yours without permission from the Fair group. So please..
I drew this for a contest... I worked pretty hard on the lineart, I erased it alot.
The sparkly things are wings, her wings are made of constellations. Her symbol is the constellation Pegasus. (I thought it fit.) Her hair is supposed to represent Aurora Borealis (didn't do good with that. ), she transcends through space so I thought I'd put the "universe on her feet" so to speak. The wand..well, I dunno about that really.. I just think she needed an accessory.
Didn't want to upload this yet, but might as well.
Materials: Photoshop 6, tons of free time, optical mouse
This was done for Spotted Slug as an art trade thing, that of course I forgot about along the way.. Anyways I had alot of fun with this, I tried out some new stuff with watercolor. This is only my..second picture with tube watercolors, I think. I was reluctant with using the black lineart for this, but I think it turned out alot better than if I hadn't given any lineart at all. o.o It took me a VERY long time to get accurate colors on Photoshop, though. But I found I was just using the wrong filter on the scanner.
If you want some oddness though..I knew that Spotted had a good sense of humor, and her ponysona is distracted by things easily, so I added those flying slugs. Wouldn't you know, that she came up with this idea in a book she's writing (before I drew this picture)..and I had never seen or heard of butterfly slugs before. Odd coincidence. This picture now resides with Spotted.
Materials: watercolor paper (Blick Student type..I'm cheap), Reeves watercolors (the small tubes, also cheap), size 4 and size 4/0 brushes, faber castell pens, and my pigma micron 005
IF THE DEVIL DOESN'T LIKE IT, HE CAN SIT ON A TACK
I was given colors and some other minor details, and I came up with this. I wanted her to have somewhat of a "cloudy" look to her body, almost like she could disappear into the clouds. Hence the blue points.
The symbol is an angel, you can't really see it though.. If I draw her again maybe I should move the wings up higher.
THE LINEART ISN'T MINE. It was drawn by the talented Firehelix, I did not do the lineart. Again, I didn't draw the lineart.
But, I did do everything else. I was debating on uploading this since I didn't do the lineart..but finally decided to. This picture represents a terrible time in my art life. I was having an art block, one of the worst ones in years..infact I hadn't had one for years. Yes I do draw every damn day. But for weeks I wasn't drawing anything, nothing was turning out well.
Firehelix was having a coloring contest though, and so..since he has such nice thick lineart, it looked fun to color. So I thought I'd go ahead and do something halfassed for the hell of it. Couldn't get any lower really. So I put it in Photoshop..and eventually, out came this. I was quite ecstatic, I finally had accomplished something, and I'm never one to like anything about a picture of mine..but damn I love those clouds. They remind me of some cutesy japanese thing..Hello Kitty? I dunno. I had tried new, different techniques to color this with..and that's just what I needed. Haven't had any art problems since then, so this picture is meaningful to me.
I won third, beat out by two lovely traditionally colored pictures that I was glad to lose to. Digital is easy peasy compared to what they did. I know ~ManaJaq was one of the artists but the other name escapes me.. If I remember I'll link to her DA page as well. o.o
Materials: Photoshop 6, optical mouse, some much needed inspiration
Note: Remember, lineart isn't mine so only crit the coloring if you decide to critique.
