A 95 Year Old's Perspective on GaynessMy Great Grandma (at her 95th birthday party): "You know, these people who are gay, are they born that way, or do they become that way?"A 95 Year Old's Perspective on Gayness1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Great Aunt Cathy (Nurse): "Well, there's a lot of argument about that, but I believe, and many scientists agree, that they are born that way."
My Great Grandma: "So what's all the fuss about?"
This was my Great Grandma, who passed away a month ago. She dropped out of school young to support her family during the depression. She worked at an electronic's company, building compasses for spaceships. Her work went to the moon on the first moon lander, and can be seen in the Smithsonian Aerospace Museum. She supported her family of six kids along with her husband, and lived through almost a century. And this was her perspective on gayness.
Kinda makes you think, doesn't it?

Anyone know what color these animals are?First one is a fox:Anyone know what color these animals are?1 week ago in Personal More Like This
His black colors (nose, legs, tail) are dilluted to an amber like color? Im not sure, but im almost 100% sure this is a wild fox.
Next is this horse:
Her mom was bay, and the father was cremello. The horse is listed as buckskin, and it would have to be because of her parents, but can buckskins be this dark? xD
I love color genetics, they fascinate me!

This is very heart warming to see other artists inspired by my works. The greatest compliment is to see someone else mimic you and that certainly holds true. If I missed any one's piece inspired by me, just leave a link to it in the comments and I'll throw it up here. Check these out.

I'm in no position to teach anybody and suck at explaining things anyway, so it's probably better to point you at some other sources.

I started this journal because I had been dissatisfied with my art skills so since May 28, 2011, I've been on the hunt for material to help me out. PLEASE NOTE: This journal gets UPDATED! So check back every few months or so for anything new! And if you find something useful, please suggest it! If you have your own collection of resource links, please share them! And if you're browsing this list and encounter a site link that no longer works, let me know.
ANNOUNCEMENT! My journal is becoming too big. So soon in the future, I will be making a PART 2 to this journal. Some of these sections will be moved there, and the ones left behind will be expanded upon!!! Please continue to leave suggestions. Let me know what has helped you out. I would love to know.
So far I've found these sites helpful:

Yes it's true... Now I am going to spam you through bloggery as well! Albinized will be the place where I drop new stuff, post process steps and wips and possibly share some info about composition and technique picked up during my ongoing struggle to march through the swamps of mediocrity. So, keep a close eye because things are about to get hot! (ouch)
Character Design: An introductionCharacter Design: An introduction11 months ago in Art Features More Like This
Arvalis-2012 by `arvalis
What does 'Character Design' mean?
The character design is the process which comes after the characterisation and consists in defining the character through his/her physical appearance.
We need to consider a character as a little fictional creature, human or not, that aims to please its creator and the public as well.
While the basic characterization of this fictional creature (his tastes, his fears, his behaviors) may take a little mental effort, as it is a sort of list of emotions, facts and feelings that come and go in the life of a character, the process of visual realization of this creature may not be as simple. That's why many writers and characters creators prefer to rely on experienced hands.
Also many of the mental aspects of the character are not possible to gain by using 'static' visual medium. For 'static' I mean all the illustrations and drawings unable to tell a

ast week we published the video of Josh Wattles, $makepictures Fan Art Law panel from Comic-Con. An educative, passionate and very enlightening conversation soon followed in the comments section. You can participate in that conversation here.
This week the superstars of deviantART panel will provide unique insight and advice for artists on the rise in the deviantART community.
Being a member of the deviantART community might be the most important support system a young artists could ever hope to have. That being said, there is also the problem of finding a way to stand out when surrounde

Tutorials and techniquesQuite a lot of people keep asking me for tutorials and to be honest I see no point in creating yet another strip on how to paint skin/clothes/light/carrots/whatever. There are so many of them out there that it would be simply a waste of time to sit and basically copy what's already been told.Tutorials and techniques2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Instead, I've decided to make a compilation of different tutorials and charts that I personally use to learn how to paint.
The most important thing you need to learn even before starting to read a tutorial is that all walk-throughs are meant for you to understand how things work. My point is that after reading and later practicing a tutorial called 'how to paint a glass duck' you should be able to paint not only a glass duck but also anything else made of glass. You should concentrate on understanding the rules and patterns instead of trying to copy what you see on the image. Otherwise you'll end up knowing how to paint only a few things from only one perspective and one lightning pattern.

How to : Find Art ThievesPlease this journal, so that a lot of people can read it.How to : Find Art Thieves1 year ago in Art Features More Like This
I noticed that a lot of people don't know how to search for their photos on the internet, so here is a short tutorial. Unfortunately there isn't much you can do about art thieves, but i still think it is important to look out for them.
1. visit Google.com
2. Go to the page of the photo you want to search and click "show image"
3. Copy the Link and paste it into google.
4. This page should open, click "search by image".
5. Now you can browse trough the results.
6. The less results the happier you should be.
EDIT : You can also use websites like : tineye.com and iqdb.com
This was pointed out to me by some people, personally i have no experience with them, but i am sure that they work too.
Tutorials and techniques 2It's time to refresh the tutorial journal! Added some new ones and removed those which, after some time, I found a bit misleading.Tutorials and techniques 21 year ago in Art Features More Like This
Below you'll find a list of tutorials I personally think of as the best on dA. If I have any problems with painting something I usually take a look at one of those.
Is there anything you're having troubles with? Need help looking for a good tutorial? Or maybe you'd like to see a video walk-through of me painting something?
I'm open for suggestions for what kind of tutorial/walk-through you'd like to see from me. If you're interested in anything, post your suggestions in the comments!

A Pop Culture Interpretation of The Supernatural
Every culture around the world created gods and other mythical beings by mixing and matching fanged and taloned animal parts—e.g., enormous eagle heads on lions’ bodies—human beings have always seemed to need to believe there are powerful and usually quite vengeful supernatural beings lurking just beyond the candlelight.
Supernatural beings come to serve several purposes:
They kept people on the lighted path of truth and goodness, fearful of exploring beyond;
They were a reminder of the punishment we deser
Hunter x hunter 80What a depressing chapter, its so freaking sad, probably the sadest thing i had seen in anime lately, so sad, that Shingeki feels like a light comedy, because i was shocked, you arent prepared for hunter x hunter to be that cruel, some how in shingeki you are mentally prepared. Dont let the cartoony style fools you, this is an anime you need to check out.Hunter x hunter 807 months ago in Personal More Like This

So tried to update my bios to fix drivers and that killed my motherboard, damnnnnn.
So i said ummmm well i could get a new ipad by credit, so i sold my past one to my sister and an ipod touch just to cut the price by 40%, then noticed the home button wasnt working.
So another 15 days to get the change because they dont have more anymore.
I said damn, someone upstairs wants me to try pencils really really hard.
So here comes the wooden season.
Its hard because my eyes are like level 70 and my hands are level 20, so my hands dont match what i see, its going to be a long trip.
Wish me luck.
moving images, music and inspirationIt's sharing time!moving images, music and inspiration2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I've noticed that many deviations have different lyrics in the author's comments and people tend to get inspired by music. I must admit that it's quite similar with me. I often turn my mp3 player on loop with one or two songs only and paint. But in fact music isn't the biggest inspiration for me. The strongest urge to create wakes up in me after watching videos! I do not think only about movies here but also music videos and so popular fan AMVs made by many youtube users.
As I am a beta tester and dA gave me the wonderful option of sharing videos in my journal, I've decided to use it...because I can!
I'd also like to see all the videos that inspire you!
Post links to your favourite music videos that you like for both the music AND visual qualities.
Here are three of my top favourites. What do you think? What type of mood do you look for when seeking inspiration?
Links! Spam me with music video links!
