I come from a background of modeling and dance, I did modeling professionally and dabbled in ballet at a certain point in my life but an injury I incurred at a younger age stopped me from pursuing it. Modeling and ballet taught me about the efficiency of the human body and what "being in shape" actually meant. I am astounded to this day by the amount of "Hey Baby wanna chat" or "Do you like webcam sex" responses and notes that I get here on DA. I used to get offended but now I am just annoyed, not by the sexual advances but by the presumption that someone like me would be interested in someone or something like that. I recently went to a workshop hosted by the AIPP, the Australian Institute of Professional Photography. It focussed (no pun intended, for a change) on the use of off camera flash, and featured a couple of speakers and some hands on demonstrations throughout the day. Quite useful, and a good day.
Now with anything like that, there's a handful of sponsors who have a table or two to show and sell their wares. I have no real worries with that either. But it did make me aware of a trend that photographers seem to be subject to of late. We're for the most part getting more hung up on the gear than the technique! Most of us are becoming more and more locked in on the latest gadget than on the end product - the photo itself. There's a feeling of "I'll fix that in photoshop" and while I'm not against post-processing - hell, I do it myself - why don't we get it right IN THE CAMERA rather than spending more time in front of a screen later?

today i spent the whole day in front of my laptop, editing. i love my models and i thank every girl that accepts to shoot with me or wants me to photograph her . i remember the first time i sent a message to someone on facebook to ask if she allows me to photograph her . i don`t know where i would be right now if wouldn`t done that . if you want to photograph someone just ask. it doesn`t kill you . just don`t be shy . that way you`ll never see your dreams become reality ...but still, i want to photograph a professional model .i`d die to photograph tallulah morton in amalfi coast. haha, it would be amazing . but first i`ll get a tattoo and i`ll buy a new camera + lens. the tattoo after i get my scholarship and the camera after i clean thousands of tables at mcdonald`s in the states next summer. or somewhere else.
