From Resources to Fractal Art #1Hi deviants !From Resources to Fractal Art #13 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Welcome to my new series : "From Resources to Fractal Art".
What is really interesting in the fractal community, is the way deviants interact between each others to share their knowledge with tutorial or Parameters Pong (Sharing Parameters to tweak the main fractals).
Therefore, in this article I'm going to select a resource randomly and show you how to start from a tutorial to achieve a wonderful fractal.
This week, let's take a look at lindelokse tutorial : Apophysis 3D Blooms Tutorial
This tutorial is an evolution of her first tutorial about 2D blooms.
Since Chiara explained us how to create bloom a lot of deviants tweaked and had fun with this technique!
Here's a lil' sample of what you can find in this category !

PE Street Photography FAQSTREET PHOTOGRAPHY FAQPE Street Photography FAQ2 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
What is street photography?
Ha! You didn't read my previous journals, did you?
Street photography is "un-posed, un-staged photography which captures, explores or questions contemporary society and the relationships between individuals and their surroundings".
Street photography is an eye focused on the ordinary, on the every day life. Its interest is in capturing every day moments and situations that filtered through the sensitivity, vision, personality of the photographer are able to pass emotions and sensations to the viewer.
Moments can be of every kind: ironic, sad, melancholic, surreal, wry, tender, beautiful, poetic, destabilizing, documentary. They all show aspects of life.
You can read my take on it here: Street, children, is a state of mind
I feel awkward/shy/embarrassed
Ten Tips for Nature PhotographersThis article came about after a deviant specifically requested that we write ten clear, simple tips for Photographing Nature. Troubleshooting articles and information can be very useful, but sometimes breaking it down into manageable memorable chunks is so much easier. So without further ado please enjoy our Ten Tips for Nature Photographers!Ten Tips for Nature Photographers3 years ago in Art Features More Like This
1) Get into your environment
Yes, it's rhubarb. To be a true photographer, you must be at one with rhubarb.
When we talk about photographing Nature, we don't necessarily mean wide expansive rolling landscapes. Whilst they contain any number of elements that are nature focused and made up from natural resources - Nature Photography is about getting into your environment and getting up close and personal with these elements. So think of it like you are Photographing the components that make up that beautiful lan
Back to Basics Photography - Understanding RawdSLR cameras and most bridge cameras have the option to shoot in raw, but what exactly is it and what are the benefits? Let me attempt to explain.Back to Basics Photography - Understanding Raw3 years ago in Art Features More Like This
A camera raw file contains all the data that is captured when the shutter button is pressed whereas a JPEG is compressed and a lot of the data is lost. They are often called digital negatives as they serve the same purpose as the negatives in film photography; they are not ready to be used as the final image, but hold all the information and data needed to produce one. This all means that you are left with a higher image quality which also allows you to have more control and manipulate more parameters than a JPEG. All of the metadata is also still in tact, meaning that the original state can always be referred back to if needed.
So, surely you want to see the difference, right? Well you're in luck.
Top - straight out of camera (SOOC) raw. Bottom - basic adjustments done in LightRoom raw.

Big News!-Big News!2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Mrs. Paper Pony here.
I wanted to let you all know that we received some huge news today that already has and will continue to affect our business.
You see, I am a writer. I've been a writer since I was 15 years old. I've written a lot of book but none of them have managed to find me an agent...until now!
That's right! I am so proud to announce that I am now represented by Nikki Terpilowski of Holloway Literary for a young adult fantasy novel I wrote!
For those of you that want the short story, there it is! What this means for our shadowboxes is that it may take us longer to get to them because I am trying to balance a third job between my day job, papercrafting and writing!
For those of you that are interested in the longer journey, here you go:
I have written six books before the one that landed me an agent. I've been trying to break into the publishing world for over 10 years (I started writing when I was 15 and am now 26)
More about Blooms !!!As you have noticed I got some Blooms going recently and they become very very popular So it happens I'm in a spring mood and feel like being showered with flowers - time to shed the heavy skin clothing into light and fragrant. Got amazing comments on the blooms as well - from dreamy, in my dreams full of magic to I wish they grew in my garden, can you make some prints and even could you make the Blooms into 3d-sculpturesMore about Blooms !!!4 years ago in Personal More Like This
All ideas and suggestions are very welcome - on short time notice I did added some prints & also a brand new calendar (with Blooms only). You can always add it to your wish list (so you don't forget the blooms when Christmas comes) or you can get it even right now, still 10 solid months left, and afterwards you can get the singular month pages to use as prints (I do that - good price for 12 artworks).

Inspiration Station #1: Xyrus02It's been a long time since i wrote some news about what happen in fractal community. I don't feel the urge to wrote it because at that time, i don't think that dA is really give a damn care about fractal community. But, right now, a group of people, really draw my attention and made me realize that we, fractal community, is still one of the greatest community here in dA and in many other place. Breed Colour and Marking StandardsHi all! This is a basic foal design guideline for making sure your foals meet breed standards. This may also be used for creating imports if you are an admin of the group. To meet breed standards, your horse must fit these categories. Back to Basics Photography - CompositionLately I've seen quite a few photos that have potential, but need some work. Composition is one of the most important parts to taking any photo (and making any piece of art really) and so I thought I'd share a few basic rules and tips. The word composition simply means 'putting together' and so, with any piece of art, it's how the piece is put together. With a bit of practice while keeping these tips in mind, you can create a more impacting, pleasing to the eye piece of work that will draw the viewer in and keep them interesting.Back to Basics Photography - Composition3 years ago in Art Features More Like This
You could crop your images afterwards when you get them onto the computer, but it'd be lovely to have a great image right off the boot, right? By keeping in mind the things below, you'll be well on your way to taking better photos. And don't forget, it's always better to know the rules before you start break them A few tips before we start;
Look around using the viewfinder every time you take a picture.
Look at each element and how it impacts the overall co

Patty and Jorge's Amazing PongRecently, Patty - Undead-Academy and Jorge - batjorge reached the epic milestone of 1,000 entries in their Fractal Pong.Patty and Jorge's Amazing Pong11 months ago in Personal More Like This
In case you are unfamiliar with the term 'pong', it is an artistic collaboration between two fractalists. First one artist renders a work and passes the finished parameters to the second. The second artist renders a variation of the first work and passes the new parameters back to the first artist for their turn at tweaking. This process repeats. The artworks evolve over time and at the hands of each artist.
While pongs are not exclusive to fractals, the parameter-driven software lends itself well to this type of collaboration.
Patty & Jorge did not invent the idea of a pong but unless it can be proven otherwise, they have just finished the longest running pong in DeviantArt history.
:iconpongorama: is a group devoted to Pong Teams. We felt ourselves lucky to have Patty & Jorge join the group and let us host a
